Ha! I knew that was going to bug somebody. New doors and fences by numerical data ID, or grouped together by block type? Argh!
But yeah, the file is very Human-readable (once we add in some line breaks). So if people don't like the colours I choose for, say, granite or andesite (I spent a lot of time trying to figure those out) anyone can edit the file to change the HEX colour values for any block.

I think that option was turned off for some reason, though I could be remembering incorrectly. You can go in game and hit F3 to find your coordinates, then go in Minutor and open your map and mouse over the map until you find those coordinates and you'll know where you are on the map.

Would it be possible to have a version of Minutor that is able to read the colorpalette.json from JourneyMap?
That would be just the best, as JM already take the job of geting a single color for nearly all block/entities ingame, modded too.
Minutor would just have to read it as it does for his own json. (a small tweak would be required to read the level.dat to convert uid, used by JM, to id, used by Minutor)
I tried to take a look at it myself, in the source code, but it's C++, and I can,t even Hello World with that :/ (i'm just a novice webdev, mainly PHP)
In the past I had make a little tool to convert one into the other, using NEI Dump CSV and name comparison, but it was just a quick and VERY ugly workaround.

Does anyone know of a site, service, or program that will create maps from current rev (e.g. 0.14.0) MCPE maps?
Either that or perhaps a way to make sense of the MCPE files, themselves? Trying to find some stuff that was built far from the spawn point, and I can't seem to find my way back. Old story, I know... but visualizing the created world would go a long way toward solving the problem.
Since I use Windows I download the Windows, No installer version which is a .zip file containing the latest Minutor.exe.
I went to my Minutor folder under my .Minecraft folder (easier to navigate to my save folders that way) and created an "old minutor folder" and moved all the current files into that as a backup.
Then unzipped the minutor.zip to that minutor folder.
When I ran that copy of Minutor it either had or downloaded the latest definitions.
Currently they are:
1.8.8 for blocks
1.6.2 for dimensions
and 1.7.2 for biomes
and all are named "Vanilla".
If this isn't what you see try clicking on Help\Check for updates....
FYI those numbers represent the version of Minecraft the definitions were for.
The block definition for grass path probably not in the 1.8.8 block definition file.
You can read these definitions by exporting each of the packs from the View\Manage definitions....\ dialog.
They will be exported to .json files which can be edited and then added back to the program in the same dialog.

Hi. I wanna save some of my time, so I ask, before checking all the comments.
Does this application, support mods at all? Or will they be shown as pink blocks? Just curious.
You would probably have to create your own block definition file for the blocks added by the mods and then add that to Minutor. Minutor makes adding definition files fairly painless.
However, I'm not familiar with how to make a definition file.

Go to The File menu, select Open World. It should give you a list of worlds in your saves folder. I think it will only find worlds that are installed in the default folder location. If you have Minecraft installed elsewhere, or want to map a modded world, then use the File... Open command and navigate to the folder that contains the save file you want to view.

Someone already suggested zooming out farther and you said it's not possible. But here is my idea: If you want to zoom out that far that one pixel=one block on a HD screen isn't enough, the purpose is probably not to see every block. So Minutor could, maybe after a certain scroll distance that changes nothing
(for an idea how that would be, check the turning tool in image editing in the Google photos app, there it "snaps" to 0°, but not hardly, it's more like there is a big area between -1° and +1° that just corresponds to 0° all the way through)
go to 1 pixel=2 blocks, 1 pixel=4 blocks, 1px=8bl, 16, 32, etc. To display it, it could either only display all the blocks which coordinates are divisible by 2, 4, 8, etc. (still some information about single blocks, less calculating time) or display an average colour of all the 4, 16, etc. blocks in the pixel (probably smoother image, especially for buildings, probably better look on a big scale).
Also I would like a key for the height scroll bar, as someone else also already suggested. For example the up and down key could always go up and down and WASD always move on the map. I'd also like some way to go faster, maybe Ctrl+WASD.
Btw, I updated from 2.0.1 to 2.1 today and it's great! Nice new functions, new 1.8 and 1.9 blocks, now there are only 1.10 blocks missing. Would it help you if I sent you definition packs for new versions?
Frankly, I find/found it annoying that the Y axis scroll bar was reversed in the latest(?) revision. I am/was quite used to 255 being to the left and 0 being to the right.
Also I agree, there should be a permanent set of keys for the Y axis scroll bar.

Is there perhaps a typo on line 137 of mine18formatted.json?
This line?
What's wrong with it? I didn't edit ANY of the lines, just reordered them and added some tabs to indent variants.
If not that line, which one?

I'm having one issue with Minutor, The blocks and mapping work just fine, but I can't "Jump to Player" because it is greyed out.

Pardon if this is off-topic.
It appears Minutour is not intended for Minecraft PE files - true?
Is there something comparable that would be just as user-friendly?
Sorry for the interruption.
Read three posts above yours.
I doubt it's compatible with pocket edition files, I don't think they have the same format.

any chance for this to update? this is my main mapping tool since it first came out.
The author of Minutor IS updating the definition files for Minutor v2.0.1 when they need to be.
The easiest thing to do is download the latest copy of Minutor from his site:
http://seancode.com/minutor/
Since I use Windows I download the Windows, No installer version which is a .zip file containing the latest Minutor.exe.
I went to my Minutor folder under my .Minecraft folder (easier to navigate to my save folders that way) and created an "old minutor folder" and moved all the current files into that as a backup.
Then unzipped the minutor.zip to that minutor folder.
When I ran that copy of Minutor it either had or downloaded the latest definitions.

and all are named "Vanilla".

The block definition for grass path probably not in the 1.8.8 block definition file.
You can read these definitions by exporting each of the packs from the View\Manage definitions....\ dialog.
They will be exported to .json files which can be edited and then added back to the program in the same dialog.

I don't know for sure, but you MIGHT be able to compile the program source code under a 32 bit system and get it to run on your machine.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was made 64 bit to allow zooming on larger maps in full screen.
