I'm pretty sure Minutor has no practical limit, I think it saves images line by line if I'm not mistaken. The limit could be hard drive space or it could just be taking a really long time on large maps. It's been a while since I tried it, but I recall it making some huge files, ones even Photoshop 64bit had trouble opening. On really huge world files, it's better to just limit the output to certain areas.

I thought I recognized your name in the Terraria Online forums as the author of the Terrafirma mod. I've been using Minutor since the Alpha days and it has really been helpful in locating ore, finding dungeons and so on.
I'm playing the FTB Direwolf20 1.6.4 modpack and Minutor recently helped me find a dungeon in which there happened to be a Portal Gun. And just now I found two more dungeons not far from my base - in fact they are at around Y=50 and are just off the NE corner of my outer wall. Hopefully one is a skeleton spawner as I need a renewable supply of arrows.
Has someone made a definition file for TerraFirmaCraft?
In fact, I think a very nice thing would be for Minutor to ba able to read the colorpalette.json file from JourneyMap, or someone to make a convert apps (I might look into something with PHP, would be nice and easy to get color into Minutor, as Journeymap dynamically get them from texturepack)

Thought I would pass on an issue that popped up with ver 1.6.3 the other day when I updated to latest JAVA 1.8.0_31 (32b) running on WIN 7.
After Java update installed, Minutor 1.6.3 no longer displayed cleared/searched areas. In other words the previous cleared/searched area displayed as if it had yet to be searched (greyed out)... att image (issue 1) indicates what it is now showing while att image 2 displays what it should be displaying - previously searched/cleared area (snapshot was taken from minutor 2.0.1 which I do not use do to functionality problems).IIRC, MC was open/running when the download/install was occurring.
Most unfortunate as version 1.6.3 worked like a rock until now.
If you still have that previous version of java installed, launch by shortcut with : G:\Fullpath to\Minutor.exe -vm C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe
Adjust your filepaths to match where your exe files are.
So is the newest version still only compatible with 64-bit OS, or it is now compatible with both 64 and 32-bit OS?
Really hoping there is a newer version for 32-bit OS by now.
I doubt there will be a 32 bit version any time, as it needs 64 bit in order to use the amount of memory it needs to show the map full screen. Try Unmined, it's still getting updated and has new features added all the time, though it handles color a bit differently, but you can customize that.

love this program, thx. is there a way of changing the color scheme? or maybe being able to see just certain things, i.e. just diamonds or iron? or maybe a combination of items? I'm kind of new to the minecraft world
There are files that can be modified, and I had one to just show dungeons, but it's been a while and since this isn't being updated anymore, I use Unmined now.

Just wondering when i try "save to png", it saves it as a .file and i cant open it, anyone have a fix?
You have to add the .png extension manually, it doesn't add it automatically. So in the save file dialog be sure to give it the name you want and then put the .png after the name.
Like: MyGreatMap.png
Or you can rename the file after it's done and add the extension, either way.

When I open a world in minutor it loads and I see the extent of the map I've traveled to but every block is listed as unknown.
I've been able to load my worlds perfectly before and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program but everything I see is still pink.
What problem do I have?
Something with the definition files, I think. Go to the view menu and select manage definitions. There should be at least three listings there for vanilla. I'm pretty sure these are built in to the program, if they are not there, then there is something wrong. There could also be add-on definitions that are causing the problem, try turning those off temporarily and see if that helps.

So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
As this program doesnt seem to be updated anymore, does anyone know of a definitions file which will allow this program to show the blocks added in 1.8? Dont like Unmined, its not as clear in some aspects.
Like some of you here, I love minutor but hate the fact that the 1.8 blocks aren't in there. So I created a new vanilla blocks definitions file that includes all the new 1.8 blocks.

Hey folks!
Like some of you here, I love minutor but hate the fact that the 1.8 blocks aren't in there. So I created a new vanilla blocks definitions file that includes all the new 1.8 blocks.
.JSON file here:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwZix5pmcinIWnkzbHB1YTllYmc
Install instructions here:
http://www.geekman.ca/2015/12/minutor-resource-pack-for-minecraft-18.html
Constructive feedback is welcome. Enjoy!
Looks like Geekmansworld did a nice job.
I considered doing this myself some time ago but I have little or no talent for art/color definitions.
I reformatted his .json file and placed everything in numerical order.
(I'm slightly OCD with regard to orderliness.)
My file, mine18formatted.json, can be downloaded here:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/bvr4m9vkxgqamf1/mine18formatted.json
BTW: I found the error in the file and it now loads properly.
On my PC I use Notepad++ as my default text editor. Try it, you might like it.
