MineKraft: Ultra brings traditional online rpg gameplay to Minecraft with a focus on expanding gameplay options for players who enjoy the combat and exploration parts of Minecraft while simultaneously encouraging teamwork between them and players who enjoy the crafting and building parts of the game. The modpack contains only 16 mods and aims to put a lot more 'survival' into the survival part of the game. You will encounter many new and powerful enemies and unlock spells and abilities that will help you defeat them. The combat is an unholy union of Minecraft, Hexen, Everquest, and Warcraft 3's hero system. You will probably die a lot more often than in regular Minecraft.

Philosophy and History
We've been working on this mod/modpack on and off since 1.8.9, and are taking another stab at going public with it (after a pretty poor previous attempt with a brand that was, in retrospect, far too offensive). This all started when we were upset they cancelled EQ Next and so we started work on turning Minecraft into the type of voxel-based online rpg we wanted to see. The whole goal is to really flesh out the adventure and combat parts of Minecraft by adding a class and level system that retains much of the rogue-lite feeling of Minecraft. You will see many of the things you would expect to see in any mmo: buffs, debuffs, dots, aoes, crowd-control, as well as utility systems like a graphical party system with xp share, resurrection methods so that the party doesn't have to break up on first death, and fast travel options. We have also introduced many new stats like Mana, Mana Regen, Magic Armor, Cooldown Reduction, +Magic Damage, and items that you can craft that will provide them. The holy trinity of damage, healing, and tanking is in full effect and ensures that grouping up with other players will be much easier than trying to go it alone.
We have been heavily inspired by games like Everquest 1, Hexen, a whole slew of Warcraft 3 custom games that we can't even recall the name of, and actually everything really started because we wanted the rope blocks from Better Than Wolves in a more modern verison of Minecraft so there's definitely a bit of inspiration from the MC community itself. We wanted to bring all the good parts of classic RPGs into Minecraft while retaining the feel of the survival experience and avoiding the introduction of pointless number grinds.
We have plans for at least 6 more classes at the moment, as well as introducing end game tier armors and weapons that are crafted through suitably end-game means. We also hope to further integrate with Minecolonies in the future, adding quest givers and other rpg tropes in keeping with the theme of MK Ultra.
At the moment this is the only way we are distributing the mod just to keep it simple and allow us to iterate as fast as possible. MK Ultra is not really a standalone mod, it has been built on top of several other mods and designed to work closely with a few others to give a complete experience. In the future we may distribute standalone versions when we aren't changing things so quickly.
MK: Ultra is really meant to be played with others, and you can play on the official dev server if you log into: server.minekraft-ultra.com
Just got done deploying the Ranger class. We wanted to make an offensive, medium armor character that excels in melee combat while still having some ranged capabilities and supporting ranged characters. The Ranger is the perfect dps to take into dark spaces.
Ability 1: Practiced Hunter - The ranger restores hunger and grants themself night vision for a short period.
Ability 2: Fairy Fire - The ranger throws a projectile that inflicts a small dot and highlights all foes in the area around the target.
Ability 3: Wild Toxin - The ranger buffs their weapons to decrease enemy attack speed and increase damage taken toggle with mana per hit.
Ability 4: Desperate Surge - The ranger subtracts hunger from themselves to gain damage absorption and health.
Ability 5: Slaying Edge - The ranger executes a short/melee range, high damage single target nuke. If it kills the target provide a damage boost to the party.
This is mainly a quality of life update: the durability on most of our armors has been upped significantly so that you will be able to use them for longer than about an hour of combat, many of the Wave Knight and Wet Wizard abilities now put out fire in the area around them when they are used, and pets and summons should no longer consider farm animals potential targets.
In addition we noticed that the events in Lycanites often leave far too much fire behind them so we added a new item to help you clean up:
The Fire Extinguisher Flask is made from a bucket of water surrounded by glass bottles and when used will put out all vanilla and modded fires in a 16 x 8 x 16 radius around the player.
If you are going to keep lycanites events on we recommend that you turn off mob griefing and the fire tick if you don't want your entire world consumed by fire.
