It is the realization of a long time dream of mine to have an Zoo in minecraft.
I know, I know. There are a lot of mods out there in the world that add in animals for Minecraft already. You may be asking me right about now, "Wizard, what will be so different about KeeperCraft than any/all of these other mods?"
For starters, I want to build KeeperCraft into a community of like minded individuals. "Yeah, but you get a great community on other servers." Yes, you do.
Zoo Content:
KeeperCraft will be a mod specifically geared to making a Zoo, instead of adding random creatures and hostile mobs, focusing on animals that you can capture from the "wild" of Minecraftia, bring home to your zoo, and build exhibits for them, to display them for your friends.
The main focus of KeeperCraft will be unique animals I have never seen featured in mods before, or very rarely ever featured in other mods all in one place. Each animal will have custom made models and textures, hand crafted specifically for KeeperCraft.
Also, KeeperCraft will have custom items, blocks, tools, and more specifically made for making the most realistic Minecraftian Zoo that you can.
Wildlife:
Some of the animals already being modeled for KeeperCraft include: GIraffe, Bison, Gorilla, Hippo, Chimpanzee, Koala, Tapir, Camel, Badger, Bald Eagle, Moose, Yak, Wildebeast, puffin, narwhal, beluga, different seals and walrus. There is even a plan to add in some extinct animals in the future as an addon, such as Smilodon, Mammoth, Woolly Rhino, Terror Bird, and more.
The Team:
Right now, There is a small build team being assembled, but this is scoping out to become a fairly large project. We are always looking for more people who would be interested in becoming a part of this project. If you can model, make textures, or code, and are interested in joining this project, you can message me on Discord. My Discord is Wizard#8854 and we can talk.
The Community:
KeeperCraft has a discord server, so if you are interested in downloading the modpack and joining our awesome community and creating your own zoo, we would also love to have you. Message me at my Discord and we will go from there.
Release:
A Full release of the KeeperCraft mod itself is still in early development, and the release of the KeeperCraft mod has a tentative release date of summer 2019. Join our discord for more information and updates.
At the moment, we have a working mod that adds in an "Animal Trap" that allows you to capture animals in the wild. Its a simple crafting recipe requiring some iron, paper, a slimeball and a button. The mod also will add in a coin to use as a currency [useful for an item based economy on a server, or to use with a mod like Custom NPCs.] and an Experience item, which can be used as a custom currency to trade for unique items. We are also working on an Animal Encyclopedia which will keep track of all the animals you capture!
