Provide new types of blocks and variations on existing blocks that fit with vanilla and allow you to create nicer builds.
Current Features:
Vertical Slabs
Vertical slabs are available in the following types:
Stone
Cobble
Stone brick
Brick
Nether brick
Sandstone/red sandstone
Quartz
Purpur block
All planks
When placed next to each other, they form double slabs, just like the vanilla slabs do.
***Works with any texture pack!***
Crafting:
Create a nice fence
Improve your castle walls
Good for gravestones too!
Wallpaper
Wallpaper is crafted from 2 colored wool placed vertically, ala carpet, which gives you 3 wallpaper blocks (I'm thinking of changing this recipe to paper and dye).
Wallpaper can be placed on any solid vertical surface.
Right now it only comes in the colors shown below, but I want to make it available for all dye colors. I'd also like to add the ability for the player to craft overlay patterns the way we do for banners, although wallpaper would only be able to have 1 overlay pattern.
Tables
Comes in the following types:
Oak, birch, spruce, jungle, acacia, dark oak
Stone
Iron
Gold
This is how you craft it.
*For the stone table, replace with stone slabs and stone blocks. For iron/gold, replace with iron/gold bars.
Future Plans:
Wallpaper pattern overlays
More varieties of slabs and vertical slabs
Hardened clay
Andesite, diorite, granite
Red nether brick
Endstone brick
Glass/colored glass
More types of walls
Hardened clay
Sandstone
Trapdoors for all wood types

This mod is currently in ALPHA version. Everything is still being tested. Please report any issues you find.
You should make it so glass with go into little holes in stairs, to make intricate window designs. This looks super cool already, and id love to use it when building. Also, make slabs be able to be placed in the center of a block, like a thicker glass pane.

I'm glad you like what I have so far.
But unfortunately, some of things you want are pretty challenging and a bit niche.
To place a vertical slab in the center of a block, it would either have to be 1/3 the width of the block and combine into a triple-slab, or it would not be able to have a double version at all. And honestly, it doesn't really seem like something that MC really needs. If you're really interested in careful placement, you should check out the Micro Blocks mod - it might have what you're looking for.
This is a first release alpha version. I've tested everything, and I haven't found any obvious issues, but there's always bound to be something I missed.
Give it a try, let me know how it works for you guys. And please don't upload the file anywhere else, for goodness sake.

This looks really promising. Something which should have been implemented into Minecraft a long time ago.
I've updated the download to version 1.1-alpha.
Changes:
-Added tables
-Moved everything to a custom inventory tab
-Improved the placement of vertical double slabs
-Fixed a UV error on vertical slabs
Hey there! I might just have a good suggestion for this mod!
so, smooth stone slabs have a top texture that almost makes it look like tiles
also, the top texture of sandstone looks very smooth and might be great to use for this mod.
maybe, you could add in blocks that have the those textures on all sides? I think this would be a great idea.
Also, if you need any help with this mod, I'd gladly be willing to help with textures and stuff, if needed.

A very good idea. Thanks for sharing.
