Introduction
Hello Guys! This is my first major mod! It uses MCP.
So, this page had been created a while ago, then I finally updated it,then it got deleted without anyone telling me, and I still do not know why! Anyway, this mod will feature a complete playthrough and showcase of Arda in Minecraft, from the moment Eru Illuvatar said the word Eä to the Dagor Dagorath if possible. If not, it would go until the death of Aragorn Elessar.
Gameplay
The mod will add in all the phases of Arda. There will be four main phases. The Ainulindalë, The Years Of The Lamps, The Years Of The Trees, and The Years Of The Sun. Each phase will have a different map, and most may even have several, such as the Years Of The Sun having one for each age and the Years Of The Lamps having Arda as it first was, Arda with Utumno, and Arda being marred by Melkor. The Ages Of The Sun will be sub-phases. There will be two ways to play. One of them is questing mode, where the player must complete quests that follow the lore of Arda. The other mode is freeplay mode, where you can do whatever you desire.
The First and main mode is questing mode. Each phase/sub-phase will have a series of quests, and different characters the quests can be played as. Each character's quests(s) will differ greatly, even if they are leading up to the same event, such as the Dagor Nuin-Galath. Once all quests are completed for a phase/sub-phase, freeplay mode is unlocked for that phase/subphase. There will be an achievement for each quest.
Freeplay mode is a mode that is basically a lot like survival minecraft. You can explore, build, and unlock new achievements. There will be achievements for visiting new regions, slaying mobs, and doing other things included in the mod. For achievements, there will be two new tabs in the achievements menu that comes with vanilla Minecraft. You may have seen this in some other mods as well. There will be one tab for quests and one tab for Freeplay, although a separate menu may have to be added, as it might be difficult to implement some achievements in that format.
The mod will also have an in-game map. This will be able to be opened with a keystroke. The map will have several modes. Each mode will show a different version of the map, depending on what mode it is. The first modes to be added will be biome, territory, region, and basic.
There will be a phase in the mod that will not be classified as a phase. It is the time period that occurs from when Eru Illuvatar speaks the word Eä until the Valar sing the Ainulindale.
Man, my hands hurt from retyping this!
Versions
The mod will be worked on chronologically, so the third age and war of the ring won't come for a LONG time, but hey, most other mods don't have the earlier times, so good for us!
Beta 1- Eä: The first version of the mod. It will be released after all bugs have been fixed, so it will hopefully not have any bugs, as I want the FIRST release of the mod to be solid. This update will add in a new dimension called Eä, along with a very special telephone box that will be used to travel to Arda, as Arda is just Earth a long time ago. It will also add in a book, whose title is currently unknown, but will give access to all the mod's crafting recipes. This book can be opened whether or not it is in the inventory, so it doesn't have to take up inventory space. The so-called time machine will have different parts, and different recipes for each part, so that it uses most of Minecraft's resources, as I want Eä to be hard to get to. The parts can then be crafted together to make it. It will then take you inside, where an item called 'Voice Of Illuvatar' will be used to light it. The final appearance of Eä is unknown, as it is likely to change a lot. This will also add in Grond, Melkor's hammer, and a new block called 'Ash', which will be similar to snow.
To Be Added (Not 100% Accurate as of order, but up to the end of the years of the lamps.)
Beta ?- Almaren: (more info coming soon)
Beta ?- The Ainulindale: (more info coming soon)
Beta ?- Arda: The basic map of Arda with nothing but the planet, the cliffs of Arda, the great lake, the lamps of the Valar, and Almaren.
Beta ?- Utumno: The next map of Arda, with the Ered Engrin and Utumno.
Beta ?: Vista, Ilmen, Ekkaia, and Kúma. Also maybe the Girdle of Arda.
Beta ?: Belgaer and Enegaer

So as I understand, you guys want to see some progress. Well, here are some maps of Arda that I drew. All based on a detailed pencil drawing. These will be used in the mod, regardless of if they are changed at some point in time.

You could make this similar to the mod "The Legend of Notch: Reincarnation". Essentially, Sthullen made that mod and instead of having the map be randomly generated, he drew the map with WorldPainter and made it preset, so its always that map. Then added structures and NPCs and Quests and everything. Might work very well for this one. And it totally fits the theme. Because in the Tolkien universe, all that people do is basically just walking around, and more walking, and even more walking, and walking without any end. And probably some climbing, too. Okay well and sometimes there are fights of insanely huge armies. Anyways, please consider that idea for an attempt at the mod. Will make things easier because you dont actually have to change any world generator stuff.
Wow, thanks! My original intention was to have the map preset for the years of the Lamps, and have it plain until a certain point, where it would be randomly generated! But later, that is pretty much what I was gonna do. I'll definitely look into it soon! Luckily, I haven't started on world generation.
Speaking of things to do in Middle-Earth, I have planned for there to be much more than walking and climbing. There will be massive wars, gigantic quests, and something coming very soon are quests for the years of the lamps. Actually, that reminds me I gotta work on Eä first! I don't want to spoil the lmp quests just yet. Anyway, thanks so much for the help! You are the first person to try to suggest something for this mod! I'll definitely take your suggestion. Thanks again!
Man, that was the worst thanks ever! I was doing something else at the moment. Sorry. Well, i'll definitely look into your suggestion and probably use it too! Thanks again! (I mean it)
Btw the second part of the previous reply was a separate post.
Mike, do you think it would be viable to create such a large map as Arda in Worldpainter? Especially considering we have multiple maps for each phase. I have seen mods use map generation programs based on colors used in a map image file. If Worldpainter doesn't work perhaps I could do that.
Also, for other people that have been observing this page: Beta 1 may be a boss fight and a mob instead of a dimension. Maybe even two!
Note: This is not a suggestion. I am currently working on this mod.
If this page is to be removed, then please notify me before doing so. Thank You.
