It accomplishes the same things. Just in different ways. I wrote a ridiculously long post earlier that goes into the differences. Sifting isn't nearly as useful as it used to be.

Yes it does. I managed to crash a couple of times with it as well. You'll have to talk to LoveHoly to get it fixed up though, because I didn't write it.
I know you have an example json file for us to make our own recipes but is there a place we should put the json files for minecraft to load them? I haven't figured that out yet.

I'd suggest making it easier to get diamonds. And also ditching the whole "alchemy" idea.
If you don't want to waste the Black Slime idea, maybe make it so you can purify Magma Cream from Magma Cubes with water in order to get slimeballs? And maybe even make proper Slimes from that with a barrel? Mob Heads are ridiculously rare, and the Looting enchant requires diamonds.
for saplings i think seeds for them will be found but for the seeds as for seeds i have an idea for that too birds now fly over and occasionally drop them.

Spotted a typo in the getting started guide. In the paragraph that talks about doing a mob spawner it says "if you have enough would..." should be wood from context. nice work sir.
This may be a stupid question does Ex Nihilo 2 work on maps other than Skyblock? I really like the idea that I can make clay for modern or large brick buildings. If it does would you recommend playing with Ex Nihilo 2 in a normal survival world or does the mod make normal survival too easy?
I'm testing it on a dirt super flat bedrock + 4 dirt was trying for coarse dirt but stuffed up. Works fine. Also started it on a red stone ready but then realised that it does not rain on that super flat and the desert superflat. Oups. Also started it on a normal superflat and a normal world. Both by accident and both without any crashes. I'm working on a challenge map that's all granite up to the world limit with cobblestone slabs at the top. That would be perfect for this.
Not sure where I put my pristine sky block 2.0 map?
PS I have a fear of heights I love skyblock but I HATE skyblock. lol.
Lapis is a metaphoric transformation of marble with a dash of aluminium in the mix. Since chisel mod will require marble anyway then may I suggest that a soft calcite recipe containing pebbles, dust, bone meal & aluminium salts.Then add to water to make marble and lava contact should turn that into lapis.

Marble is used in the few other mods to make chalk. Technically marble is just compressed chalk and chalk and bone are both CaCo combinations.
What have you got planned for nickel? There is a process called nickel pig iron. Most low grade nickel is made in China now from nickel rich clay. The minecraft version would be gravel, 3 clay and five coal/charcoal. Cook in furnace to get pig nickel or more likely a nickel seed for your crystal growth jars. I presume they work a little like tinkers ore berries once running.
Nickel pig iron is in wikipedia. I suspect greenhouse gases are not a problem in skyblock.

Yes you can. Just like any other enchantable item, except you'll only ever get unbreaking.
