I read, youre planing to replace Sun Damage for Vampire Players with Potion Effects.
Can I suggest that you leave the option to activate it in the Config for I can Imagine People enjoing this additional challange.
It is a little too much for me without the Night Clock or the Coffin (I Think the Coffin should not be much more expensive than a Bed. Like a Bed with more Wood) but there are tousends of more expirienced players out there than I am. (I have yet to find my first Diamond Ore block. yes, havent got anything Diamond legit in Survival. Call me Noob)

Totally forgot to mention that we already implemented the changes. Here is how it works now:
"Changed
the sun damage system. There are now three types of impact of the sun:
Nausea, weakness and damage. When you are a lower level vampire you only
get the first effect, at high levels you get all of them. By consuming
the suncreen item you can lower the level of impact by one. The damage
is implemented as instant damage which is applied every 2 seconds and
you can stay 5 seconds in the sun until it starts."
Yoursuggestion of the config option sounds good, I think I will add an
option to enable instant death or high damage. I think, I will also make
the screen border turn yellow when you are in the sun.
What about Castles beeing generated (In the Vampire Biome?) with coffins, chests with blood bottles and good loot and vampire spawners in it.
Those Castles could be out of obsidian, netherbricks or just stonebricks.
There could be also one Castle where Dracula spawns.
Also, in those castles could be high level altars. This would be very useful for Players who struggle to figure out how to make the Altars for high levels.
Then, theres still an Idea about Garlic I suggested here. It could be useful for Players who dont want to be a Vampire, but want them in their game, to protect their Base. (bc NPC Vampires wouldn't be able to get close to it and vampire players would get nasty effects near it) I still have no good idea how the Player could get it. It should be farmable in my opinion.
Wasnt there a suggestion to make Zombies and Skeletons non-hostile and even tameable for/towards vampires? Not very sure, but if done right, it could be a good Idea. But probably a little OP.
As soon as Server Support and PVP gets added, the ability to bite, drink from and turn other Players is a definite Must!
If this isn't included in that update, its going to become your most suggested/requested ability. Im almost 100% sure.

I would prefer a seperate "Lycantrophy" Werewolf Mod. The Downside would be that this Mod would most likely be either incompatible or not balanced with this Mod.
I would like to Read your opinion on this.
I dont know if Im doing something wrong, but in the new Version, neither Vampires nor Hunters seem to Spawn at all. (No, Im not on Peaceful! Spiders, Zombies and Skeletons still spawn and Attack me!) Am I the only one having this Issue? Could it be because of another Mod?

Castles sound like a fun idea, I think wildbill22 is working on something similar for another mod, maybe he can work on that. I agree that the building of the altars is not that simple, maybe I can think of a way to explain it better.
The zombie etc. hostile/non-hostile/tamable thing is pretty difficult to balance. At the moment it is probably pretty annoying that everything attacks you (since you are night-active). But if they did not attack you it would be pretty boring as well since there were only hunters left. There are also a few other points to keep in mind: 1. You get pretty strong with higher levels, so it is not that hard to kill them (which on the other hand makes it even more boring to fight them) 2. Manipulation of vanilla mobs (making them non-hostile) might result in problems with other mods
With all that in mind I decided to keep them hostile until we got a precise idea. The only thing implemented in this area is the "Revive Fallen" skill which allows you to revive some fallen mobs which then fight for you.
My personal opinions on werewolves (I haven't talked with the other devs about that) is: Not in this mod. Here is why:
Werewolves are pretty cool are pretty cool, but I would like to focus on the vampire vs hunter conflict, beside other reasons to allow players on MP servers to stay near to the vanilla play style, but still be able to kill vampires. Also probably not everyone will like them in conjunction with vampires.
If someones else develops such a Werewolf Mod I would happily work on a connection to make them balanced and work good with each other. Otherwise they might come in the very far future, but I don't think so.
We could start working on the PVP element soon, here is a list of we have planned by now:
Some kind of garlic plant for weapons or stationary defense as you suggested.
Drinking from other players (giving them weakness/slowness and maybe "Sanguinare Vampiris", but not turning them instantly)
Weapons (Silver or so) to fight vampires better
Later: A Vampire Hunter leveling system similar to the vampire one with skills etc.
Regarding the spawn problem: In my test worlds vampires and hunters spawn just fine. Can you send me a list of mods (preferably with version number) you use, so I can try to reproduce and fix that issue? Thanks
Thank you for your extensive response and your suggestions
I do have a castle in a separate mod. It appears in a village, but only in a specific biome. We could add villages to the vampire biome. For the dark theme of that biome, we could use obsidian for some of the blocks and other dark colored blocks. The castle even has a few different rooms that would be good for dracula to appear in. Maybe even add a coffin instead of the bed that is now in one room

I know what you mean by fighting stuff getting boring when you are a high level. I think one thing that helps is to have a reward for fighting everything. Vanilla Minecraft does this with drops and XP.

Similar thing on the Werewolf Thing.
The Idea of Adding Werewolves wasnt mine. I just talked about multiple Suggestions Ive read and said my opinion about it: I would like to have Werewolves in my Game similar to the Vampires of this Mod, but in a seperate Mod. This Mod should not just add crappy Werewolves just to have the 0815 Vampire/Werewolf conflict that is clichée since Underworld. So basicly, we have both about the same Opinion about Werewoves.
I would Like if Players could get Sanguinare Vamiris from other Players. (And I did not mean to turn them Instantly like Animals. does anything happen to them?) But please dont add a Silver Ore. I dont like when Mods add custom Ores. Make the Weapons something like Holy Weapons. Maybe a Sword that is infested with Holy Water, or a Crucifix or just Bottles of Holy Water as Splash Potions. Maybe give the Altar of Cleansing a Use for non-Vampires. (As a Crafting-Table for Holy Items, for exemple)
Also, for Hunters, there should be a Reward for Protecting Villagers and killing Vampres. Maybe a Villager Trade that gives Emeralds for Fangs that gets more and more emeralds the more Villagers are Alive (niether dead nor vampires) in the Village.
Id like to know how that Level system would work. And how is a Hunter diffrent from a normal Human?

No, Not yet. Gonna do that today.

Strange... In Superflat, Creative, they Spawn. Inmy survival world, they dont.
Could it be the Biome? Arent Vampires and Hunters suposed to spawn in the Taiga? Are there Biomes they just dont spawn?

Theoretically they should spawn in all biomes except hell and end.
I changed something about the entitys, which probably should have killed all existing vampire mobs in existing worlds, but should not influence the spawn at all. But the spawn-algorithm is something that it did not quite understand yet.
Maybe you can walk some distance in your old world, maybe that helps, otherwise I have to begin to search the cause.
I thought about Sanguinare Vampiris or how the effect is called, and figured it doesnt make sense if the Player turns slowly into a Vampire, but transforms farmanimals and Villagers instantly... How does that make sense?
I suggest you to make the Transformation not be instantly but rather give them a short version (5 Minutes or something) of that effect, and then let them act diffrently. Like hiding during the day in Houses (Villagers), in Caves and under Trees (Farm Animals) to avoid Sun damage and attack non-Vampire versions of their own kind with a chance to infect them too and giving them the Effect. Also diffrent Drops. Vampire Pigs dont need to drop good Meat. Why dont let Mobs that got converted drop rotten flesh? It would also be cool if the Player could breed Vampire Farm Animals (like vampire-pigs) with blood in the bottle...
Just Ideas.
I also suggest you to improve the Textures of the Human Heart and the Pitchfork. Just Saying.
And as for playable Hunter Players, those Fangs vampires Drop should be important for those. As well as the Church should be.
So the Hunters are like the Church People that protect the innocent civillians (Villagers) from the Evil, and Vampires are the bloodthirsty Monsters that attack innocent Villagers, die in Sunlight and are vaunerable against Holy Items. So Vampires are the opposite of holy.
As for Wheapons, there are already Pitchforks and special Swords.
Why not special Armor and a ranged Wheapon like a Crossbow or something throwable? (Holy Water that hurts Vampires, Zombies, Pigmen, Endermen, blazes and Skeletons, but heals everything else? Including spiders and creepers...)
Or what about a special Axe or a Wheapon called "Wooden Stick" that is really effective against Vampires and has a Chance to 1shot them if they are sleeping in their coffins...
I already suggested Garlic... What about a Garlic Bomb as an attack wheapon for Hunters, that can be crafted out of Garlic?
Still, all of it, just Ideas.

For Bugs and Gliches.
After I deleted all the Worlds I was Playing on with the old Version installed and started a new world, Vampires and Hunters spawn again.
My Sanguinare just wore off a Second ago... I had a few Gliches while I had the Effect on. Sometimes, not always, I was unable to acces my furnace or my Craftingtable or open my chest. At a short Time, I coulnt even place Blocks or pick up Items.
One time, there was an entire chunk missing, and even multiple F3+A hitting didnt make the Chunk load, and BAM it was Nighttime. From one second to the next. All while the Sanguinare was on.
Gonna try my Vampire Powers...

I will answer to your (long) post later, since I don't have much time right now.
@reiring
The vampire bat hitbox should be one block, I implemented it and it worked in my dev environment, but it apparently does not in normal Minecraft. I will fix that, thanks for that hint. EDIT: Fixed in Version 0.5.1 (just released)
Thanks again for your detailed feedback, always nice to see
Regarding the bitten mobs. It is indeed strange that they are instantly turned. But there are a two points which currently prevent me from changing it, 1. it's somehow cool to (quickly) see the effect, since it looks pretty cool/funny. 2. I really don't like to play with vanilla mobs to much, since it can quickly lead to compatibility issues with other mods.
The drop replacement however should be easily implementable and sounds reasonable, so we will do that. And if I find a (mostly) fail safe way to manipulate the vanilla mobs AI, I will try to work on the other stuff as well.
The pitchfork should not be available in survival and only be used by angry villagers (which are not visually finished), when they wear it it looks alright.
The Human Hearth looks indeed pretty awful, maybe LRA_10 can create a better texture than mine.
The part about the hunter players sounds good, we will keep that in mind.
A armor which reduces the visibility of vampires to hunters npc is already in work. Regarding the other weapons: I will but them on our TODO list and we will see what we implement, when we got that far.
About the glitches:
I'm sorry that you had to restart the world, not really sure why it did not work.
The issues about the Sanguinare Effect are also pretty strange, I will take a look at that. Did they stop after the effect wore off?
Edit:
Just released version 0.5.1 which fixes a few issues including the bat hitbox one

@TheBeastCH
I will answer to your (long) post later, since I don't have much time right now.
@reiring
The vampire bat hitbox should be one block, I implemented it and it worked in my dev environment, but it apparently does not in normal Minecraft. I will fix that, thanks for that hint. EDIT: Fixed in Version 0.5.1 (just released)
Regarding Werewolves, see this post http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/wip-mods/2364443-vampirism-become-a-vampire?comment=155
@TheBeastCH
I'll make a heart ASAP.
