Catwalks Mod
This mod adds Catwalks, which make traveling long distances easier, and Caged Ladders, which prevent the player falling.
This is my first finished modding attempt (all the others were too ambitious, so I never ended up finishing them.) I hope you find it useful.

Opening/closing sides
Any side of a Catwalk/Caged Ladder can be opened or closed by shift+right-clicking with a blowtorch.
Catwalks only:
The sides of Catwalks are always open if there is a non-air block beside it.
You can't jump over the side of a catwalk unless you are pressing shift.
Extending Catwalks
Catwalks can be extended by right clicking the side of a catwalk with a Catwalk in your hand.
Extending Caged Ladders
Caged Ladders can be extended by right clicking the top or bottom with a Caged Ladder in your hand.
The floor can be enabled/disabled by shift+right-clicking it with a blowtorch.
Light rope
Light rope can be installed on both Catwalks and Caged Ladders.
Light rope can be installed by right-clicking.
Light rope can be uninstalled by shift+right-clicking.
Note: The blowtorch can be substituted with any buildcraft-compatable wrench

Make rope light texture ignore lighting (make it always super bright)
It actually seems like a fairly neat and creative mod, although I recommend adding "In-Game Wiki" support so you know what stuff does and whatnot, and maybe improve the textures a bit, and possibly could I use this in my modpack? I could see a lot of use for this in modern stuff.

Hey, first off I love this mod! So simple but really takes some of my builds to another level. I added it to my modpack for my friends and started a server and it works great, but in the server command line it spits out this error:
As far as the message you're getting, it's actually a debug message when a block's sides get updated, that apparently I missed when I removed them for release.
I just looked at the code, and I missed a few, so you may also have gotten messages like "setting", "NULL", a random number every time you right click on a catwalk, and of course, "our coord: [x] [y] [z]".
I just released another version of the catwalk mod with some minor changes, including that light rope now is 100% bright all the time, and I also removed those logging messages.

Hey love the mod. But i am having problems with the catwalk at the end it not being to open using the blowtorch. I do have ideas for the mod add better looking fences because it keeps with the idea of the metallic theme it would be really nice to have spikes on the fence but can these fences be attachable to the catwalk. It would also be nice of these new fences can have electricity but have two modes kill mode and repellent mode, the repellent mode being to keep mobs away from the cage and not keep killing themselves. While the kill mode will keep thee mob captured in the fence and kill it. I am suggestion this because i am trying to create a modpack for something like Zoo Tycoon and i haven't come across a mod like yours in a while it is original and creative. Getting back to the point no mod has catwalks nor a fence that keeps mobs away from the fences of the cage because wither they suffocate themselves or dangerous mobs get close to the fence like creepers and explode.
~~ Please i beg of you for this idea to be implanted in your mod because if u do i will use all my force to try to share your talents with the web~~~

Hey! It looks pretty neat! Great work! But... Could you get rid of "speed potion" buff? Maybe change it somehow so it didn't use the potion effect. A lot of players just hate particles, and I'm one of them
I just wanted to say that I came across this mod recently when looking around for some aesthetic type mods. My friends and I absolutely love it. The only suggestion we thought of was the ability to have rope lights colored in the different dye colors; regardless, for us this is definitely a keeper so far. I look forward to your release in the future.

The mod is a great idea and I think that with a little more work would be incredible! I know that it is a bit difficult but I think it would be awesome to have a 3D railing and catwalk floor model. Right now the 2D is just a bit lackluster and a bit odd. I think its a wonderful mod, just one little aspect to change.
You've awoken on this barren wasteland planet, a civilization once ruled and proud, but where is everyone? All the buildings are empty, nothing remains, all that can be seen is mass hordes in all directions of zombies, skeletons and other creatures never before seen. Inside isn't safe, Outside isn't safe, what will u do to survive this planet and escape? Can you survive the 1st day without death claiming you?
There is no natural light, when night time comes it's pitch black, no moon light and all that is heard is the scratching and moaning of whats around lurking to destroy you. Mining reveals unbeknownst horrors from the rocks just waiting to come out and devour your soul. Puddles of liquid blue or purple are not water, but also intent on harming you.

Version 2 is out! It adds several new blocks, increases efficiency, and has winddelay's great textures. Much better than my unshaded crap.

Nice! Think you can add a version made out of wood too? No need for multiple wood texture support I think, at least for now, maybe a future addon.
