I'm just speculating here, but I believe Smart movement either replaces BipedModel or the whole PlayerRenderer. Either way, it should be the creator who provided at least basic compatibility.
See, my backpack, when used in an armor slot, is merely an armor item, the model of which is the model of the backpack, and is moved towards the back of the player. If it was, let's say, a funny model for another armor, it would not work either. I think Twilight Forest has a Yeti armor and my guess is that it doesn't work with SM.
Nothing on my end I could do except make a whole new renderer for the Smart movement case, which for me is not worth it. It's a lot of work, and I don't even know if SM has an API or if the code is open source so I can take a look. I'm not interested either.
Actually, I think I recall something about Smart Moving actually doing nothing with replacing the player model. It's RenderPlayerAPI. It's required, as it uses the modified model to create the animations, but having RenderPlayer API installed will cause the same effects without SM installed as well.
AnimatedPlayer does some wierd things as well, but not as wierd. Things do still render.
Mo' Bends is the only animation mod I have seen that has gotten it right :T
Don't worry though, it's not yours or any other modders problem. It's Smart Moving's problem. I wish there were a way to make these mods compatible, but that would require a lot of recoding on Smart Moving's end...
RenderPlayerAPI is something I was initially interested in, but then I realized I could just roll with regular Minecraft. Problem is, the more stuff you put into the code, the more stuff you need to keep updated, more compatibility problems arise, and maintaining gets troublesome. Also I'm very lazy in that regard (It's not like I will have the huge amount of time I currently have to devote to this).
In other news, I'm thinking of making a jetpack-class backpack, a helicopter-class backpack, and something to aid in farming. Not quite sure how or when yet. I'd like to see some ideas.
A new ability for all backpacks is on the idea list too: would you like the backpack to auto-pickup stuff you mine? That would make for a different, Miners Backpack to be made. All in all, having ideas is fun, actually making them happen is too, but takes time.
Read what? And, I really want it for my Mod Pack. I found out this mod is very great. Tested when I use the version 1.7.10, and I love it. Please make a 1.6.4 version. REASON: All my favourite mods are supported for 1.6.4. Even some tekkit editors would want this mod to added. (This sentence is just a guess?)

The short answer is nope.
The long answer is: no, I'm not coding for a previous version, not even 1.7.2, because is too much work and I'm lazy. Also because I don't wanna. Also you're not my mom, I do what I want.
The longer version is: Is a lot of code I'd have to change to make it work in 1.6.4. Actually I TRIED making it in 2013 when 1.6.4 was relevant and forge didn't have all the tools I needed to make it possible, so even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to make the same mod.
It's not my fault other modders/mod packers don't update.

But I think I could provide a few ideas....I guess I'll make a list that others can update.
1. Love the helicopter hat, but maybe if it were something like a mini helicopter in the backpack?
2. Swimming gear is noice.
3. Flamethrowers are cool. As we can see in TF2 :3
4. Maybe there could be a small house backpack? A backpack that generates a small house?

Welp, I tried another backpack mod that does the same thing, but SmartRender dashed my hopes yet again. I wish the person who made it would make a patch to fix the stupid glitching and incompatibility, because Smart Movement and backpack mods make sense to have in tandem. I guess not for them .~.
For a backpack to aid in farming, maybe adding a sprinkler function to the backpacks, or adding a special sprinkler backpack. The sprinkler functionality could use up water in the tanks and when placed could water an area of crops (similar to the sprinkler from Open Blocks).
Edit: Maybe the hose could also be utilized to spray particles of whichever liquids were in the tank (e.g. Lava particles would burn mobs; Water particles would put out fire, hurt blazes, etc.)
I don't know if its possible but An addition that would be absolutely amazing would be enderchest integration. Im not sure if chickenbones even has an api or not but if at all possible I absolutely love this mod and even in its early stages its fantastic. I just hate having to choose using my enderbag over my adventures bag sometimes. Id love to have enderbag versions of adventures bags. I hope you put this into consideration as it would be an excellent additon to your already fantastic mod.

Sorry about that... it was very hard to foresee that one.
