Are you a casual player? Have you ever thought "Wow, magic would be cool, but this stuff is too complicated/takes to long to start"? Then Arcane3 is the mod for you! We strive to create an experience that can have huge customizability, but allows you to not have to constantly look at a wiki page to figure out what to do (well, more than the minecraft wiki!). The mod also focuses on not adding new mechanics that forces you to learn a new keybinding or focus on another player resources, instead resorting to usable items and using already established resources (hunger and health) for spell casting. Spells also start becoming accessible at the gold and redstone age, so you can begin your magical adventure much earlier than other mods!
Note: since this is a WIP mod, likely balance will be an issue, and there will likely be many bugs. These would be nicely reported at our Support page, which will allow us to address issues as they come up and prioritize fixes to make a better user experience.
Here are some media about the game, with more in our wiki (and full development site) below. As most say, the proof is in the pudding, and, well, here is our pudding!
The Arcanum, where you make spells!
Crafting some spells
Currently, nothing visual happens when you actually cast the spell, except for the weird snowball of Missile and Heal that will change in the future. I'm planning on adding some cool visual effects as I implement more stuff, but for now really the visual is in the crafting!
The wiki is more than just a wiki, it is a public development site! This contains info that you can view to see what we are up to, when we've done it, and how long we think things might take to make! You can also checkout the project for yourself from our SVN panel (sorry, decided not to Git, but I may Git with it eventually).
Note: if it isn't already evident, I kind of suck at making these posts look nice. Dangit Jim, I'm a programmer, not an artist! Anyway, any help on this front would actually be appreciated, and I'll even give you a credit (since I'm making 0 money from this atm. There aren't even any ads).
I've revamped the crafting system, so spells can be made with higher customizability more sustainably.
I've also added in Armor Deficiency (more armor makes spells cost more hunger to cast) and Cloth armor for wizards that want enchantments!
NOTE: This is COMPLETELY incompatible with previous versions, and WILL crash if you try to load them! I'm sorry, but the spell revamp caused this, and there was not really a good way around it. Thankfully there weren't many spells that it added.
As a side note: Blast is bundled into the Heal-base as Missile, and both power and speed have been removed temporarily.
