Atomic Manipulation - Harness the power of Atoms and Molecules
For more information on the Atomic Manipulation mod and all it contains please head over to my website and check everything out. It's basically a mini wiki.
Currently in the mod
8 Blocks including two working machines, the Matter Scanner and Element Extractor.
25 Items, most of which are stages of ore processing (4 ores, 4 stages). Also includes a couple tools
2 Custom Guis.
Planned additions
Tons of machines, I want the mod to be very extensive when it comes to late game power production and overall playability.
More tools, The main tools (wrench and hammer) have been implemented, but I have a few more ideas in mind.
Power Network. Gotta have cables! No one wants to use a clunky machine run on coal or wood. We need power, and lots of it!
Mod integration. This is quite a while down the road but I really want to add mod integration with some of the more popular mods that I really enjoy!
Mobs. Depending on how far I want to go into this, I may add mobs that you can actually create by manipulating their genetic makeup.
Now I don't profess to be a Molecular Biologist so much of the content in this mod may not have any bearing in this universe, it's really just for fun so don't get too tied up in the inconsistencies!
To say I am early in development is a bit of an understatement. This is my first attempt at Minecraft modding with only a basic understanding of java prior to now, but I have huge goals for this mod and I hope you can bare with me as I work my way through it all. So, this is really just a small preview so far. Keep in mind that most textures for items are temporary, I've picked some out purely for the purposes of testing. I'll try to keep updates coming as often as possible as much of my time will be spent working on this mod!

Feedback is appreciated on both the mod ideas and the website is extremely appreciated. As I said this is my first go at both with no prior experience so things may be a bit shaky. Anyways thank you all for your time, hopefully you enjoy the idea enough to keep track and watch it grow!
Looks interesting, but there's not much I can say with how little there is here right now. I have a few suggestions though. First, and I'd be surprised if you weren't planning this, make sure the player is able to extract complex atomic and molecular structures from any item or block in the game, and then break them down into their atomic parts (or maybe not, if it's a useful molecule). If you do this it should cut down a lot on the number of ores you have to add. Second, maybe lower the texture resolutions of your items and blocks. It's pretty, but the contrast is startling and looks very odd. Third, if you do dive into biochemistry and the creation/modification of life (which I would absolutely love) do it carefully and with at least some research behind it. That could easily be a whole mod in itself, and the possibilities are staggering and wonderful. You may want to examine Mystcraft's approach to world customization and use similar areas of control for mobs, being able to determine things like what they drop, how they breed (if they do), whether they're water, land or air creatures, if they can be saddled, breed differences like in horses, and so on, but they must be at least a little bit inter-related, and don't forget custom shapes and skins and some interesting consequences for mistakes!

Wow this is great! I'm sorry there is currently so little to work with, I just thought I'd post the site with what information I have so I could get suggestions as early as possible.
I was thinking of allowing the player to break down every block, but they could only do so depending on how far they have progressed into the mod (i.e. a general knowledge item similar to the specific research books I have explained on the production machines page). So for example you start out only being able to break down dirt/sand/stone etc, and as you do so you are adding to your knowledge pool. Once you reach a certain point you are able to break things like gravel/clay/coal down and so on.
I really do appreciate your extensive feedback on the life creation ideas. It makes me realize that if I want to get this mod out within a reasonable amount of time I should probably set it aside into it's on mod as you said. But I think doing so would allow me to focus more on bringing as much content to each of the separate mods as possible, which would increase their overall quality.
Thanks again, these kinds of suggestions and feedback are exactly what I was hoping for!
Although I would like to clarify, Although the player may be able to break down everything, they will not be able to create everything. I don't want this turning into equivalent exchange plus machines.
I'm not exactly sure about these ideas at the moment, It will take time to solidify everything and make sure this mod is balanced and fun at the same time.
I would say take your time and just do the best you can do. Even if you can't put out updates on a regular basis just check in on the thread often and keep people informed on what's going on. Life permitting of course. The biggest problem I see with mods are some creators put out mods that have a lot of potential but they either drop development on the mod with not even telling anybody or they very rarely reply to the topic. I understand people make mods for fun and sometimes life takes over but let people know whats going on don't just let the mod die out. If I can just make one suggestion though if you don't mind. Could you design your own ore blocks instead of just recoloring the vanilla ores? That's another thing I dislike is mod developers will just recolor the vanilla ores so then a player might have two or more mods that have similar colored ores and you don't know which is which. I could try to make some alternates for you if you don't mind.I'm not a pixel artist now mind you but I can come up with something that doesn't look like recolored ores.
EDIT:You can use these if you want.

I totally understand what you are saying, and I plan to give this my all for quite a long time. On the subject of textures. It should be noted that a lot of the current textures are simply placeholders for now, just so that when I'm testing it is a bit easier on me. I plan to redo quite a few textures including ores and such, but that is quite a bit down the road. I appreciate your efforts and definitely agree with you. Those have given me some good ideas to work with! Thank you so much for your feedback!
I get really excited when a mod comes out that is really thought out and everything has a purpose and gells together. The machine textures are high quality and some of the best I've seen. I don't really know the technical aspect of what you are trying to do so I can't comment on that but I will say get the core of the mod done and working first then add new elements. The mob idea sounds good but you would have to make a well fleshed out solid idea and well put together. Not something sloppy that seems like an after thought. So I would say hold off on that until you get this mod done then concentrate on that one. Also don't worry about back ports to previous versions of minecraft because you are going to get requests for it. Just put all your effort into building a solid base then work up from there.

Yea these are some good suggestions. I really hope to bring you guys something that is really well rounded within a reasonable amount of time. And constant updates will definitely be a thing as I try to perfect everything after an alpha release!
I just had a read through of you Dev blog and the wiki. It seems you have everything well thought out and the wiki provides some really great information. I can see great things coming from this mod if you can keep on this course without burning out or running out of ideas. This is a great start and I wish you all the luck.

Crafting Items Galore!
I've gone ahead and added a lot of crafting items into the mod so that survival testing will be possible for me. Please let me know what you think!
