Hey i have a question about this mod., well i tested it. Honestly it's a shame i can't use it playing the 1.8.1 Version but well later meaby you will update it.
The fact is.. i wanted to know if the Bots Kill everything.. and by that i mean The Villagers... those Neutral/Friendly npc's... and yeah they kill them... and honestly it's a shame for that. Because i think it could be great if the Bots don't kill the Villagers NPC's or Iron Guards. After all, think about.. Creating a BIG City.. or a Middle one...
Placing your own house and npc's houses.. and try to defend them against lots of mobs it's a big problem. ¿can you program the bots to don't kill the Villagers & Iron Guards?.
The mod is awesome i admit it... by using it on 1.8.1 could be exelent.. anyway, i just say because could be very helpfully when cames the night, on a own, created Town (Big or Small, etc) and if you are by yourself.. meaby with 1 Iron Guard.. against like 50-100 or more Mob Enemies.. it could be very hard..
Can you Program them? i think could be very nice.. having them protecting Cities and else. Imagine it on a MP Server.. a big one of Clans and else.. i don't know.. just an idea.
Edit: I was thinking... the Bot always go close to the Enemy, i was wondering if meaby... you could program it to Fire Arrows and that the enemy could see them and fight..

The thing about 1.8 is that Forge for 1.8 is not quite out yet. It is currently in testing and thus not safe for use. Apart from that quite a lot of mods are still on 1.7 so depending on how much 1.8 is going to break in mods it might not even be worth the effort until the major mods start adapting it. Additionally Base Defense 2 relies on other modifications which have to get updated before I can start working on it.
About the bots attacking everything: That's a known problem of the Modjam versions and I will be working on a solution for this problem in the upcoming versions. However these versions feature big changes to the mod mechanics and thus are incompatible with my previsous releases. The good part: Future releases should hopefully be more stable.
1. Do security cameras emit redstone signals? If not, it would be nice so that for map makers you can make special events happen upon being seen, or for normal players have the intruder fall into a deadly pit while getting mobbed by security bots
2. Will there by Compatability with flans mod: EMP grenades anyone? Or the ability to shoot out cameras? (But will emit a redstone signal, prompting security robots if wired up) (Adventure map/PVP oriented)
3. Maybe security cameras can be disabled temporarily when hit by a projectile with the blindness effect, or alert signals randomise when hit by a nausea effect? (Again, adventure map/PVP oriented)
4. Will there be the ability to remove yourself from the list for testing/adventure maps? How else will you either make adventure maps for you to test the security OR test your own system. It would be necessary to test the system so you can find any flaws in the system and/or check to see if it is flawless.

1. No they don't do that yet. I might look into that but if I implement said feature I'm most likely not going to make the cameras emit a signal due to the new AE integration.
2. I don't see an API for this mod so it would be kinda hard to implement it properly. I'd have to give it a closer look but I don't think it's really going to work out ...
3. I'll look into that. I was experimenting with cameras that do break occasionally so that thought isn't even bad!
4. I've not yet implemented the administration interface for the new version so I can't say anything specific here. But due to the way the new system is wired up it's possible to do such things without breaking the system (as the old version requires you to be in that list so it is aware of unauthorized people accessing or breaking it).
About the redstone thing, would Project Red wire/MFR cable be compatible in that update?
Also, maybe have custom filters for a defense system? Say you and your friends get detected in the 'buddies' filter, and a vault opens up and reveals your loots. After a while, your worst enemy tries to sneak in, but is detected under the 'enemies' filter and a piston floor opens up underneath him, dropping him into lava or a pit with security robots in it :D. Or you could add a 'Prank' filter so that a friend of yours gets attacked by dispensers firing lots and lots of eggs at them when they get near their house, and you are unaffected. The possibilities are endless! Filters could interact with different coloured Project Red or MFR wires/cables so that they travel under different red stone signals, making a security network compact and efficient.

I was considering to add some kind of list feature. However I'm not yet sure what exactly I'm going to implement on that part. Even though I'm making good progress on the new version I'm not quite sure how that part is going to look like.

Quick question before I commit to killing another 15 people with mod updates, since we roll them out in packages: is there any way to disable/circumvent security systems? We're all friends and we frequently infiltrate bases while people are offline just to check up on their technological progress (IC2). However I see this mod as being a bit OP if there's no way to disable it.
Perhaps consider adding a "hacker box" or some item like that, that takes a random period of time (1 to 5min, say to avoid easy breakins) that disable a security system for another period of time (maybe 2-4min)? It would take a bit of balancing to avoid making that section too OP yet usable.
Thanks for making the absolute perfect base protection mod. Who needs GriefPrevention/NoPvP zone plugins? They just take all the fun out of the game

There is no way to work around the system yet. However it is planned for 2.0 (which is currently in development).

it's been quite a long time since the last BaseDefense release and a lot of things have been going on. Due to my occupation during the last few months this topic became quite dusty. However I'm happy to announce that the first development builds of BaseDefense 2 are rolling out as we speak!
As soon as the versions become playable (and stable enough to not entirely mess up your world) they'll be posted to my Patreon profile (coming soon) and shortly later they'll become available here! Here's a short list of features included with version 2 of BaseDefense:
Note that I'll add the features added above as I progress with the codebase. There's a lot of stuff to add and re-implement for this release so don't expect everything to be there in the very first version!

Best idea ever, update it a little bit more let's say.....more in the direction of 1.8 or forsee the future when 1.9 comes out. It's so needless to say it all of the time to mod developers, give or take a few months and we be there where you were... I have actually no clue whatsoever it takes to modify or update mods, i am not good at those new programming languages, so, sorry for my blind spot. Hope you do update for server support and 1.8.7 (latest version of MC)

Will the Bots/PossiblyTurrets be player specific. For example, if i craft one, will it attack other players unless i "give them access"

There is no way to work around the system yet. However it is planned for 2.0 (which is currently in development).
Version 2.0 is already on 1.7.10 however I wouldn't consider it as playable yet ;).

Good mod, a few things i'd like to note.
- Try adding a "Camera static" when you are actively monitoring a camera, something similar to FNAF.
- Resolution of the camera view could be a bit smaller & less view field
- Make a more simple connection, such as an item that lets you directly access the camera view
Will the drones just be flying cameras? or will they be able to fly (maybe on a tier level, based on resources used to make it), and possibly shoot?
