"Runix enhances minecraft by adding runes that let you build magical constructs out of blocks while adding mobs and dungeons that are the consequences of Runic magic." -Josiah
"Runix, a manipulation of the energies in Minecraft." -Rivkiin
"Magic! With blocks!" -BloodStone
"You're not crafting new items in the crafting grid, or mining new ore, you're using what you've already got to build magical shapes and structures to do things not otherwise possible." - C'tri
"A TechnoMagic mod that harnesses the energy in all things to influence the world!" - Lord Illyohs
Basic Mechanics:
Runes are a specific arrangement of vanilla blocks that triggers the magic tied to that rune shape. For example, the Compass rune is a 3*3 X shape made from any solid block. Activating it will rearrange the blocks to pointing North. Runes can have a wide variety of purposes, but Runix specializes in moving and manipulating large groups of blocks to automate building, create vehicles and floating islands. Runes can also place enchantments on the player, such as torch bearer.
Lore:
You find yourself stranded in a strange new world but thankfully you have a friend in a similar predicament. A man named Archimedes is also stranded in the End and has created a series of Runic formulae to communicate with you and to engineer his new Utopian city powered by Runic energy. Only problem is, the last city, Arcadia, didn't go so well and now lies shattered across the landscape. On top of that, your magic runes seem to attract unwanted attention from dark forces.
Narrative:
So, you're new to Runix, the first thing you're going to need is a book, and a spell for your glasses/vision, you can't work with unseen forces without knowing what you're working with.
Survival is your main concern when coming onto a new server, getting that shelter and being ready to survive, growing wheat or raising animals. However you happen to come across a pillar of blocks and for some reason you can’t walk past it. A small sign says property of Mr. Z. you have no idea who Mr. Z is., but somehow he has a pillar that blocks your path. You see another off in the distance and there appears to be some kind of wall between them though you can’t see it.
You enter into a city of sorts and people seem to be wearing strange clothes and eye wear. They are friendly and ask if you have made your glasses yet or if you are using the sight. A friendly player gives you a pair of glasses and putting them on the world changes. What looked like a drab city is now lit up with glows of magic. Where players looked silly before, they now look dangerous, with glowing runes and such hovering over them. Having seen the glows you are curious about what they all mean and what they do. As they are talking a massive ship flies over the city, blocking out the sun as it passes.
"What was that?" you ask the other players.
"Oh that's just one of the developers ships," as if that explained it. There are some rumblings off in the distance, no one seems to pay any attention.
You get your first book it has several basic Runix runes, they are simple teleport links, from a safe place and a mine, a detection rune, and your basic true name signature. This lets you setup your runes for yourself, adding others to your spells requires more practice and some other blocks that you just don't have yet. Your mining goes fairly well and you decide to head out into the world to stake a bigger plot of land, you have big ideas and being so close to spawn, you have no room to move. So you set off with a book that can call you back to the city if you get in any serious trouble.
You make it two full days out and find a nice jungle by an ocean, that's just perfect as there is a cold biome not to far off for ice. You start with a simple hut and foraging and building your area, At night the zombies, skeletons, and spiders come out and make things difficult for you, too many to fight so you head off into the ground to mine. Someone suggests to you that you can use a block miner and you learn a new rune in your book. It allows you to mine a small passage in one direction with just a swing of your pick, the blocks all drop to the ground as if you mined them yourself.
There are more powerful versions of the Rune but you need more blocks to be able to do that. After mining until daytime you head back up to grab some sand from the desert you found on the way to your new home.
Dungeons:
Dungeons added into world gen to teach you new rune techniques and to provide fun places to go adventuring. Dungeons include in-world game events to introduce new content as a roleplay tutorial. Example: There’s a generated Faith ship that just runs around randomly between locations, you have to catch and disable the automation runes to figure out how it works. Dungeons will have enticing loot in addition to the knowledge they offer.

If you're interested in being a Runix developer, get in contact with me or Rivkiin and we'll show you the ropes. Skype: josiah.seaman or caduil11 (Rivkiin)
In my opinion, runecraft needs a debuff(like runes attracting monsters or giving them buffs), will you be adding something like that?
I also like more runes

You're absolutely right. Runix is taking some of the ideas of Runecraft but mixing it in with a lot more forethought and an eye towards game balance. I've already spent a lot of time creating a Tier system that is fair based on how common blocks are. You can see the whole spreadsheet if you're into numbers We're going to add a number of "antagonist" mechanics that should make gameplay more interesting. That includes: Mobs, Dungeons, Entropy, and a chance of magical mishaps. I've been watching a lot of Extra Credits videos on game design like . So hopefully, that will get incorporated in. However, now that I really know what it takes to make a well balanced game, I know how hard it is. We'll be doing lots of play testing soon so that we can get it all figured out. I'll make an announcement when we have an Open Alpha test server.
Looks great. I'm a bit new to the java scene, but I have experience in C++, and a web of newbie developers and testers. Would be glad to help, if I can.

I am having a blast coding Runix. Development is really starting to pick up speed. Rivkiin suddenly created the Qixsilver liquid and Bloodstone's Rubric Rune now lets you name structures and recall them by name. Really cool stuff. We'll get the core Runes implemented and then turn more attention to the Mobs and Dungeons that Qix and Bloodstone have been working on. Then there's still client graphics...
I've been having fun fleshing out the wiki as we develop. It has everything from finished Rune documentation to half formed ideas. Please check it out: http://runix.wikia.com/wiki/Runix_Wiki
For developers: This is a very transparent project. We're not keeping any documents you don't already have access to. So check out the wiki, go clone our repo https://github.com/Ctri/Runix and then start sending us Pull Requests. If you want to stake out some territory, look at the "Not Yet Implemented" list, everything below Build Master has not yet been claimed. Just edit that page to let people know you're working on it. If you're interested in being a Runix developer, get in contact with me or Rivkiin and we'll show you the ropes. Skype: josiah.seaman or caduil11 (Rivkiin)

Yay, finally runecraft/runix won't be boring no more :3.
[Idea] You could have mobs be able to take rune enchants, Mobs could be able to activate teleporters or spawn with the runecraft Endurance armor.
The 1.7 update is going smoother than I thought ^^

Apparently I'm a horrible person for telling people the the truth. If telling people that MCreater and programs like it are crap and used by lazy people unwilling to learn java then I'm a horrible person and I'm ok with it
Will this mod be replacing or modifying runecraft?
Somethings to keep in mind: Some of the runes where banned in the server I play because of there destructive-ness i.e. faith islands leaving giant holes. Could you add a rune that regenerates the area with new dirt/stone/ores? Also are you going to be compatible with other mods? Since there was a trick, with the embedder rune and the factions mod (you could copy almost anything).
Could you also implement a rune (maybe that goes on glass), that allows you to see rune edges (for toggle blocks, it could be if you right click the lock block, you could see the toggle blocks).
