As far as I understand, you are the(an?) author of the mod that motivated the creation of the present mod. Yet your vision of the mod seems to be very different. While I respect that, I cannot understand your cheerful reaction to the hiatus in the development of the mod. You decided to stop the development of your mod. Again, that's your decision, I respect that. But why are you so happy about the possibility that the development of the present mod has stopped?
What I like about the warp drive mod is that it offers so much more than simple hack and slash gaming, or as you put it, "meat" (which, as far as I know, does not have this meaning in English--although, true, does have it in Russian). The mod grew out of yours--and I suppose you could be proud of the fact. But in its present form, the mod offers something special for different playing styles--RPG, space exploration, and, well yes, "meat", which is much more than the original idea behind the mod (or its original idea as described by William_Wallace_Worcester).
To put is simply (correct me if I am wrong on any of the points): You coded an interesting mod (thank you for that); you decided to stop the development (well, OK); somebody else took your idea and developed it further into something that has the potential to grow into a huge mod (which is great); you come to the thread and cackle about its presumable end of development (for which I cannot see any single reason) instead of, perhaps, offering help in maintaining the mod.
On another note, I do hope that even if the mod author (Cr0s?/Anon1644) has his reasons for pausing the development, somebody else could help to maintain the mod.
Oh, it's time to say a little.
First and foremost - sorry for my totally awful engrish.
So long ago, but truly enough. And little add: 2 mods. This and
this one - technically not so pathetic. Both of them now dead, as i know.
And my followers do so as well.
I'm always happy. And everything going just as planned.
Game, people - just the same.
Meat is just meat - it's purpose to be eaten, it's all.
Because you don't know cros personally, lol.
Because they have fulfilled their purpose - and minecraft no more interested to me.
Now i have other plans, interest's and.. orders.
Good for you. But I still don't understand why on earth a person who does not have any interest in the mod would be happy about the pause in its development and have a desire to comment on it. Don't want to start a long and a pointless discussion, so consider it a rhetorical question.
It's just point of view. You think it's something important - it's cause.
For me now it's all - mods, people who worked on them, all this - trifle, amused me a little.
Good luck.
as much as i love space mods and such its annoying to see amazing talent split up when all great moders should come toghethere and work on one idea. allthough i understand you want to do things they way you like and i respect that it is your choice afterall but have you seen the futurecraft mod?.
Could you make a smooth version, to ships move like Zeppelin/Archimede's ships, i know that will make the ship size smaller, but i don't care.
Here, a russian version to help you reading:
на русском языке, чтобы помочь вам:
Не могли бы вы сделать гладкую версию, к судам, двигаться, как Zeppelin / Архимед кораблей, я знаю, что сделает корабль размером меньше, но я не забочусь.

Tried Russian part... well. Don't do this again. It almost burned my brains out. Don't know how I was saved.
I can try to show you how it is looks like:
"Don't can you do sleek version, to courts of justice, get moving, like Zeppelin / Archimede of ships, I know, which ship make by size less, but I'am do not care for."
Allan Edgar Poe approves that, and Shakespeare is spinning around in his grave now.

Nah, don't exaggerate =). It is not that bad--you can still get the idea from the Russian text. I've seen much worse google-translated texts than this one.
@ Velken: Archimedes Ships has a limit of 3020 (if I am not mistaken) blocks for a reason. It is extremely laggy with a lot of blocks (even on a good computer). I would say, better not try it with the max blocks--you won't like the framerate.
That's the reason, I guess, why the developers decided not to go that way, the more so that the mod is meant to be used on servers and thus should be as lag-free as possible. Besides, why bother if there are other mods having these mechanics?
So, if you want to build a smaller ship moving smoothly (and not jumping), just use the Archimedes ships mod. Alternatively, take a look at the metaworlds mod.

BTW, mod, actually, has smoothly moving ships. It is shuttles, that can be created ontop of the sand platform. You just need to place shuttle controller block somewhere in shuttle, chest nearby and put enough fuel cans into it. It works.

Yeah, I know--it is a separate mod in the recommended modpack. I gather, it is based off the Archimedes Ship mod, and I still would not build a ship of the max size (3200 blocks that is) with it.
On a side note, while I see the reason for modifying the original mod (the Archimedes Ships), which is coherence with the theme of the WarpDrive mod, I am not sure whether one can freely distribute a mod based off the code (or, even if it is made from scratch, based off the idea) of another mod without explicitly stating it in the readme, on the website, etc. I am not saying that I don't like the way you, guys, modified the original--I love it. I just think the author missed an important step required before modifying the original with an intent to make the mod publicly available. If he did, sorry for the misunderstanding, I just do not see this mentioned anywhere.
How do you actually install this mod? It looks amazing! I have the zip file but when I put it in my mods folder, nothing happens in-game, it doesn't say it's actually been downloaded. Please help!
You install the mod just like any other. You should be on minecraft 1.6.2, get forge for 1.6.2 installed properly, and put the mod to the mods folder.

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/710528-futurecraft/ its just my opinion which probably ammounts to nothing but you would do amazingly well if you worked toghethere with them.
How's the development of the mod going ?
Very (-very) slowly.
Well, still good to hear you are working on it.
Because why get one of something when you could get one hundred?
