1. Taming birds/dinosaurs can only happen if you are near to the egg.
2. Some arid landscapes that are home to Dimetrodon, Coelophysis, early mammals etc.
3. Majority of theropods should have feathers/quills/protofeathers.
4. Insects to properly climb on blocks, unlike vanilla spiders.
5. Auracaria plains - home to various jurassic animals.
6. Traps - set up traps to capture large predators such as Giganotosaurus.
I think it would be interesting if taming were more like training (a little more realistic). It would be easier to tame/train creatures when they're younger, but it would get progressively more difficult as they grow until it's impossible (mostly for carnivores, since they'd rather just eat you). Taming/training would happen in stages:
1. Stuff the critter silly with food. Everyone loves free food (but you might want to watch your fingers).
2. Get it used to your presence and... more food (you are a food source, but only while you're alive).
3. Try touching it. Punching does not count (I figure a right-click with an empty hand might work).
4. If all goes well, your critter will love you/like you/tolerate your presence.
I figure this could work with most herbivores, some omnivores, and only smaller carnivores. Maybe there could be some post-training after you've tamed them so they'll obey certain commands (i.e. "sit " and "follow"). I realize this is rather long and kinda complicated, so I don't know how much of this is actually possible to code. I just think it would be more interesting than taming them by being near the egg when it hatches or just giving a few pieces of a favored food.

If actions speak louder than words can you yell louder in sign language?

There are good ideas. We will see that after the pre-alpha version for breeding, because there will be a lot of work. But I really appreciate your suggestions.
It's Minecraft, man. Don't you worry too much about humans and dinosaurs not living together.
You could do stuff like cave dwelling prehistoric NPCs. Primitive folks that you could trade and interact with. Take a page from Millenaire or Minecraft Comes Alive as far as that goes/

We have add komatiititc lava lake.
We also started to generate mossy granite/granite boulders near river and body of water. They will allow to cut your pebbles for get chopping tool, without having to go into the caves.
What are the plans for the various biomes? Will they all be jungle-like?
I am going to add to this question as well. Are you going to try to add as many of the biomes from the time periods this mods focusing on. etc throughout the different periods of time climates,landscapes/geology,volcanic activity changed. Will this mod be expanding and or featuring this?

All biomes will not be jungle-like. We are working on 4 biomes for the pre-alpha (rainforest, swamp rainforest, araucarioxylon forest and shallow ocean), we will add other biomes later. For example for rainforest, we try to use plants of the Carboniferous. For Aux Forest, plants of the Triassic/cretaceous, etc. There might be some exceptions. For rock, they will not be generated depending biome.
Hi this mod looks really cool will you be adding geologic features like volcanic activity, plate tectonics etc. also throughout history climates changed as well as sea level and other environment factors. I also have a request will you be adding other biomes similar to the ones of the modern era like mangroves, coral reefs,tropical/subtropical savannas, rain forests,desert,shrublands,wetlands/marshes,etc. Is there a reason you are not going to up to include up to and through the Miocene era? I find that era a very unique time of earths history considering the high biodiversity of the time, also the megapiranhia, megaladon and giant crocydliyians lived during this time period as well

If a mod were to try and make plate tectonics and volcanic activity, the game would lag to heck and it would become unplayable. Tracking and modifying large areas of the world is way too slow the way Minecraft is now. Such a system would also be a huge amount of work to implement, and our team is small currently.
Volcanoes may be doable in some primitive way (like a lava spawning block at the top of a mountain), but that doesn't sound like what you're talking about.
I don't know about the rest of that stuff because I'm just a simple programmer.

Actually, Tropicraft has (or had, I haven't played with it in ages) volcanoes that cycle between erupting and dormancy. There was a giant particle effect for when it was active (smoke) and the lava inside would rise up to the top and spill over the edges for a bit before going back down. It could be a bit laggy from all the lava stuff, but it was neat and it looked like a volcano. I'm not sure if it would be possible in 1.8, though.

The Miocene is a little too similar to the current world (flora, fauna). And I don't think the animals of Miocene would be nice with dinosaurs.
Do you plan on making water more visible? Can't really see anything in those screenies.
Those screenshots look like the typical light level at the bottom of the ocean. It would've been nice if there was a night vision effect before making those screenshots, though (I agree that it's difficult to make things out), just so we could have a better appreciation for what's down there.

Yes sorry. Its a shallow ocean, so its normal that a lot of life. Some aquatic plants are more rare than others.
And as a bonus, we completed the pebbles (not generate yet). You can place the pebbles in different positions and you can place between 1 and 4 pebbles. There are several kinds of pebbles (granite, rhyolite, quartzite, dolerite, brown flint and black flint).
I love love love this idea. I hate how people ignore the prehistoric mammals and whatnot and the early ways of humans.
I just have a question, though. Will there be other NPC tribes?

I have to think about that, but I do not know how I could integrate tribes, knowing that human did not live at the time.

Here are some pictures of the progress we've made, there is still work, its not finished. Know that the moss will have a new generation soon.
Araucarioxylon Forest with Araucarioxylon (tree and rotten log), Phlebopteris (fern) and Archaeomarasmius (mushroom) and moss ground.
Rainforest with Lepidodendron (tree), Sigillaria (tree), Psaronius (tree), Odontopteris (large fern), Sphenophyllum (plant), Zygopteris (small fern).
Awesome!

This mod looks like it has a bright future ahead! I look forward to your progress! Great work so far keep it up!
I just can't wait when I see Diplodocuses and Stegosaurs roaming in that biome!
