Whelp, this mod is apparently dead. Rarely been updated, and 1.10.2 and 1.11.2 are out, with 1.12 on the way. I'd say if this mod were continued, it would need a complete rewrite for 1.10.2 and 1.11.2. Then smooth sailing ( no pun intended) from there on out.

For the cannons you have to load them, put a flint on your hand, then right click to mount on it. After that you have to look where you want it to fire (I use to mess up this part), and wait for the clicking sound. It will then fire. If you aim too low you will blow yourself up.
Okay, seems Minecraft has stabilized on 1.12.2, but with 1.13 coming this mod could use a revival, as it would fit perfectly with the new ocean life. I'd love to have pirate mobs attack alongside the upcoming drowned mob.

I know it has been like a month since you asked this. But, I suppose I will give you a response now:
In general, I had basically stopped playing minecraft for a long while, but I have started getting back into it, and I am planing on rewriting at least some parts of this mod once the new update is out and stable. I am not making any promises, but I do want to make an attempt.
That said, I intend to just start rewriting things, and I may or may not ever get around to rewriting everything this mod used to have. However, I will make an attempt to remake the more popular elements ( and the ones I just like in general ).

I did get started for a time, but have gotten distracted for the moment.
Additionally, I am trying to work out what I should actually rewrite, as some elements are redundant since new Minecraft updates. Additionally some items were never thought out that well, so I am not really sure they would need to be added once again.
Alrighty. Good to know. Don't let it get in the way of real life and stuff like that. If you need a breather to regain focus and drive, do so. I'll still support you, no matter what you decide.

amazing mod but can u add jack sparrows compass kinda thing in it and black pearl ship from the movie pirates of caribbean..
