you should rename the topic again. fish is plerl by itself. its like saying Mooses or gooses. its actually Meese and Geese( spelling is probly wrong) but fish is already what you would use for both. ex: i caught a fish. ex: 2 i caught some fish. so Better fish.

the spelling error was intentional because i believe "better fish" is already a mod.
btw my other idea for the name was the "terrific trout mod" because originally all the added fish were just going to be trout with different colors.
there is a "fish+" and a "fish ++" and im not mistaken there is a "fish+++" also. i found out about them when trying to see if my mod showed up in google searches.
with the way we plan on making the mod function right now, the fish will spawn and de-spawn so that the world will never run out of fish. if you make an "aquarium" then fish will have a chance to spawn in it, but its not a 100% chance. if you spawned in the fish in your tank with spawn eggs they would de-spawn eventually which is price we are choosing to pay to ensure a stable fish population.
This idea looks pretty cool. Nice and organized first post. I have an idea for the aquarium, though it's sort of a roundabout way. You could make it so when you catch fish, you get an item. When you place the fish again, it's the same model, just an entity that won't despawn. Of course when I'm writing this, I thought of two major problems with it. One, this would practically double the entity IDs the mod uses, which isn't necessarily a problem. But two, if you just catch and release a bunch of fish, you'll end up with fish everywhere. Oh well, maybe you could do something like that. Or make the "caught" fish eaten by squids, but not the wild ones to keep down population.
Anyway, good luck with getting this mod going, it looks promising!

i could just have a setting in the options where you disable despawning of the fish. or maybe have a type of block that prevents fish from despawning when they are within the same chunk

i'm sure i could get a place on that modding team if i wanted to, but for now i'd like to focus on this mod idea, and the Bleach mod i've made some models for. Also i think AtmosMobs is a great mod, but its always going to be over looked compared to mo'creatures. i'd rather try to work with DrZhark if im going to work on another mobs based mod that adds animals. i don't actually like only making realistic animals, i like to make things up and mo'creatures is more open to that than AtmosMobs.
So. Any download? I don't mean to be a spammer, I mean to show how FREAKING AWESOME this looks! Keep up the good modelling, and I hope you find a great modder's help or Mojang's help. That is all. Definitely going to follow this post
thanks for the support! i actually have a few programers volunteering to learn forge and then help me. I'm pretty sure I've got a reliable team this time unlike the first 2 volunteers.
also there is no download because there is nothing to download yet!
the models and textures made by me are the only progress made on the mod so far, but that will change soon. this maybe be a bit ambitious but i hope that the mod will enter its very early alpha version in a month or two. it wont be up for download though until all of the key features of the mod are functioning without bugs. probably will only be one type of functioning, catch-able fish in the first version available for download, and will add more fish with updates down the road.
keep in mind this is just a best case scenario. i make no promises regarding actual estimated future progress. there is still the possibility that this mod might be delayed or thrown out due to coders quitting, or getting stuck.
also mojang wont consider this idea unless they are made aware of it by popular demand. so feel free to spam them about it!

maybe later you could add sunken ships or giant squids but for now keep up the good work and good luck finding modders
if you looked under the "possible additions" section on the opening post you'd see it says "sunken ship dungeons" which would be a sunken ship with chests and a mob spawner. as for a "giant squid" i have started an alternate squid model that could potentialy be used to add a giant squid.
also there has been a few new pictures added and othere stuff to the main post.
