"Through time"? Ha, this already IS the must-have crafting tool! I will be installing it right away.
Thank you for taking your time to make such an awesome mod, and keep up the good work!
(cross mod bug report) I don't know if you care but I am currently using the most up to date Ars magica 2 1.1.1b and your XACT 0.4.3 and if you break your Xact Crafter with a dig spell you do not get the items within the crafter back like if you break it with a normal tool. I have tested dig on other crafting benches that hold items and you correctly get the items back. Also if you use dig on your normal crafting bench you recieve two of them. This is happening on SMP have not tried it on SSP.
Thanks for this great mod. now I can't live without a XACT crafting table
I accidentally put an AE Crafting Terminal next to a XACT crafting table, then the XACT crafting table show up in my ME Controller, but the crafting table doesn't automatically pull stuff out of the AE network.
So what's the integration between AE and XACT, and how can I use it? Thanks!
Bit of a conflict with the mod "No More Recipe Conflicts" seems to be due to Xact replacing the vanilla crafting table, disabling this in the configs solved this issue.
By placing a XACT crafting table or any crafting table that can pull from adjacent inventories will craft the item without using the materials if the materials are in an IC2 personal safe. Craftingtable+PersonalSafe=Infinity.
Yeah, i will most likely have to special-case that block.. shouldn't be too hard.

Will go and check why this happens. I'll be releasing a bug-fix release soon-ish (through this week, hopefully).

You need to place an ME Interface adjacent to the XACT machine. It will pull ingredients as needed.
Keep in mind that my table wont act as an AE cable, so you can connect ME Interfaces from different networks and they won't create a conflict with the ME Controllers.
In other words, XACT can pull from several ME networrks, as long as there is an access point (ME Interface) adjacent to the machine, up to the number of sides of a cube (which is usually 6).

Is it possible to add the (configurable) functionality for the table to also take items out of the players inventory? Make it only work when there's one player connected to it to prevent issues. Also, with that, configurable priority from where the table should take items: Internal storage, External Storage(, Player).
I am considering this suggestion and thinking how this could be implemented. I've opened an issue in the github in case you are interested in following.
First sorry for any bad spelling, doing this post on a pad. I have been using the XACT table for a while in the horizons pack and like it very much. I do have a request though, I would like to be able to be able to place items into the crafting array more like a normal table. Then when the items are gone, the table remembers what was there using the ghost display.
In many cases I have tried to do this and the extra step of ghosting the items and putting them into inventory messes with what I have spent years learning. I hope that makes sense...so instead of grab, then shadow and replace. Maybe it could be grab item, place item in craft grid, then when used, item is remembered. I will be on later from my desktop to maybe explain better if needed.
Oh, and a clear grid button would also be nice. ;-)
I was thinking... let's say you've all the base resources for a stone pickaxe in the inventory, so 1 wooden log and 3 cobblestone. you also have a chipset to craft wooden log > wooden planks, wooden planks > sticks, sticks + cobblestone > stone pickaxe, would it be possible to immediatly craft the pickaxe from the base resources? I guess you could compare it to the Easy Crafting mod... http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1558714-152-easy-crafting-automatic-crafting-table-one-click-craft/

I've been considering a dual mode for the grid. I do know that sometimes you want to craft something quickly, and placing the items on the inventory make up for an extra click; so, taking the item on the grid would be useful. But other times, you don't have enough items in your inventory to craft what you need - instead, the items are on an adjacent inventory.
Probably I will add some controls on the GUI for switching these two modes. But certainly, I won't force you to craft anything just to store the recipe on the machine or a chip.
You could use the keyboard shortcut for that. However, I would also prefer to have a GUI way to do that and to be able to disable the keyboard shortcuts for that, my keyboard isn't big enough for all the keys I need to set from various mods...
I will most likely add a gui button to clear the grid. And yes, you can use the DOWN directional key on your keyboard to clear the grid.
Also: the LEFT and RIGHT keys will let you iterate through the previously used recipes. And the UP key will put the recipe on the grid of whatever encoded chip you are hovering with your mouse.

Yup. This has been a long term request. A lot of time ago.
I will, sooner rather than later, implement this. It will for sure be on the 1.0 release.
Hi, first I love this mod! But I have a question: Is there a way to add Logistic Pipes for crafting? I mean, you can place a Chest next to the Crafting Table so Its use the Items from there to craft, but is there a way to do the same with the logistic pipes system? I saw in the Spotlight that you can use the applied energistics system for that, but I wanna use logistic ...
Yeah, of course. Logistics Pipes integration is on my to-do list.
I'm building an automatic crafting system with this mod. Input works fine, but I tried both with Logistics pipes and with EnderIO and I can't find a way to extract the output of a recipe. Is there something I am missing or the only way to extract the items automatically is Applied Energistics?
How about the old tried and true wooden pipe with redstone pumping action?
I'm guessing Thermal Expansion's itemducts would work fine too.

Lovin' this mod. Only one issue with it (the ExtraUtils Unstable Ingot bug, and that's probably on their end.)
And I just discovered this: Placing the XACT next to a Better Barrel from JABBA lets it pull from it flawlessly. Condensed Cobblestone Get! :3
So yeah, keep up the epic! I look forward to the multi-step crafting. XD
this is the simplest complex mod i've seen ever, by complex I mean its compatable with ALOT (maybe not alot but a few) of other mods! I'm glad to see this! +1 download!
Bug: inconsistent vanilla crafting table behavior.
When I exit the crafting table GUI using the E key, the items stay in the grid, but if I use the Esc key, the grid is cleared and the items put back into player inventory.
Bug: one of the inventory slots in the XACT crafter does not hold items.
When exiting the XACT crafter GUI, anything in the last column, first row slot of the input buffer tends to be sent into the player's inventory.
I'm having almost the same bug as schpeelah, except my vanilla crafting table isn't holding items at all. Downloaded the most recent version of the mod. Tried replacing all my crafting tables with new ones to see if it was some sort of error because I loaded the mod on an already-played world, but that's not it. Tried using E to close and Esc to close, and both drop the items on the ground.
Okay, this is weird. Sometimes, the table doesn't use items. Like, you can pull the crafted items out indefinitely without using resources. Stranger still, sometimes, items crafted from several different things will only consume SOME of the things. (I.E. MPS solenoids that take iron and wiring will only consume the wiring.) But here's the thing - this is only sometimes and its completely random! I can't for the life of me reproduce this bug, but I'm reporting it anyway for obvious reasons. Please investigate. Otherwise, love this mod. Thanks!

I've experience this too, but I've noticed a common cause: Lag and having a chest adjacent to the crafter.
You *might* be just pulling items from an adjacent chest, and XACT does seem to have some trouble distinguishing recipes that use similar components (probably more related to OreDict support than anything). For example, I accidentally made 19 stacks of Pam's HarvestCraft Stock (for soup) because it was pulling items from the chest on top of it, and not respecting the fact I told it to use Cabbage (yes, I have a Cabbage farm. Deal with it), so it was using any vegetable it could find.
If there's no chest adjacent to the crafter, it could be a lag differential between what the client says it needs and what the server uses.
Also, if you're in creative it doesn't appear to use materials.
Hello. I was wondering what the license was for this mod in the use of a private and a public/3rd party modpack on the ftb launcher was. If it is allowed, could you add it in to the OP for future requests. I love this mod, even just the default crafting box overhaul makes it worth it imo, The stuff after that, just makes it 100x better!
I've just experienced a disappointing situation: I walked away from my computer while I was standing next to my XACT tables. Apparently a creeper came and blew it all to kingdom come. I have Creeper Collateral installed so I generally get everything that blew up. I got the tables back but nothing that was inside them. The recipe chips, diamonds, gold gears (I was making expensive Logistics Pipes recipes) - all gone.
I'm just getting back for a three week break from college. Sorry I've been unable to post or maintain the project - I've been ridiculously busy.
However, I'll continue maintaining XACT on monday, and will also port to 1.7.* (after I figure out what's new) and add new features.
Thank you for taking your time to make such an awesome mod, and keep up the good work!

Uhm, what kind of modpack? Mind reach me by PM instead?
