for the magic essence maybe with a diamond surrounded in redstone and obsidian could summon a boss mob which drops the magic essence.do you have a release date yet?
the mod is extremely unfinished, is a huge project, and I'm the only person working on it, so
the recipe I have for magic essence is this
"_g_","rer","_b_", where g = glowstone dust, r = redstone, e = enderdust(this may be changed as iChun has told me that his portal gun mod will be adding enderdust as a fuel source for the portal gun) b = empty glass bottle
it can be simply crafted as it is the basic material, and therefore low on the tech tree and easily obtainable.
The idea of villages seems like too much work, not to sound lazy, i would have other reasons, the main one being i want this to be a place where you go to and fight bosses, and explore dungeons, I do not want to make it the aether where you go to to build a new house and have to remake everything, and in general it is like i have replaced every part of vannila minecraft, also what you described sounds almost post apocalyptic which is not how I want it to feel, possibly like it is extremely dangerous, maybe frightening, but not post-apocalyptic.
I've decided to take some help with the textures, if you want to help leave a post here or pm me saying you want to help and showing some of your work.
I'm beginning a forge modding tutorial on my youtube channel, http://www.youtube.c...oe?feature=mhee this will help out any learning modders hopefully and anyone who is having trouble learning forge 4.x, it will also coincide with Divinecraft itself, and will most likely show me doing some of the code for it and will serve as a preview for some features.
ive stopped this as i cant keep up with it along with school.
I've decided that I will make my portals like those in Mystcraft if I can in the fact that you can make them in whichever shape and size you wish, I've mostly figured out how I would do this thanks to this video by XCompWiz where he explained the mechanic and how it worked in the code
how do you guys think i should implement dungeons in the new dimension, should they randomly spawn everywhere, or should they all be one continuous dungeon which you need to work to get to each level of meaning it couldn't all be done at once, or should there be multiple biomes, each would have one dungeon and the world would only generate one of each biome? all of these dungeons would at the end give the items necessary to make the items to get to the next level dungeon similar to the goals of a feed the beast map, you need to get the rewards from one to get the materials necessary for the next objective, this is to keep the player from doing them in one go, and also make there be preparation so that each dungeon feels epic when you are done. Keep in mind, I cannot assume people will have ee3 or thaumcraft 3 installed and will therefore have these resources be renewable in ways the player cannot screw up.
starting to run low on ideas, my hands are full with the ideas i currently have (the infichest tile entity is almost done) still need to work on opening and closing along with make a texture and gui for it. The code is almost done. either way I like to keep the thread active, so remember, I am extremely open to ideas, so any cool item ideas, any spell ideas, any cool ideas for how something could function any compatibilities you would like to see between my mod and others, just post it and I'll consider it.
I have made the descision to make this mod open source so that it can be used as a learning tool by mod new mod authors, this means two things, I wont really have many secrets as you guys can look at the code, and two that there will be a delay in progress as I clean up my code so that it is actually legible and so I'm not teaching bad habits.
Hello, I saw you were having a problem with voodoo? First off, here's the Wikipedia article on the form of voodoo you're probably imagining. Also look at Hoodoo, which seems to be the "magical" side of things. I'm no expert on either topic, those links are just for background (voodoo is a fascinating religion, in its multiple forms). Again, though, it is a religion. If you're after stuff to add to a mod, I would consider necromancy as an alternative to stereotypical voodoo. Now that the Wither and its skeletal minions are being added, there is plenty of material to work with. Summon (or "tame?") zombies and skeletons (can you limit the number "tamed?") for half your health and half your hunger, and maybe a consumable item. Learn to turn the undead, repelling them from your fortress. Research their bones and flesh to develop stronger thralls, better fertilizers (?), and weapons specifically designed to do extra damage to the undead. Upon reaching the Nether (where the mobs are likely untamable given how unstable they are), begin the long trek to ultimate necromantic power. Distill tormented souls from, obviously, soul sand, and use them as ammo for powerful spells. Learn to extract extra experience from every mutilated corpse. Interact with zombie villagers as though they were regular villagers. Control the power of death itself-the wither status effect. Speaking of the Wither, its Nether Star drop would make a lovely crowning achievement for several of the magical branches...for instance, perhaps it could be used in a necromantic amulet that renders all undead neutral to the player until attacked, and if that's not enough, brings about nighttime on a right-click.
If this sounds kind of evil for a Minecraft mod, I do apologize, but it would be kind of fun ^_^;
people seem to be misunderstanding me, i do not mean to say i do not have enough ideas for voodoo, i simply cannot think of anything that it could be used for that would be useful enough for someone to want to use. like the ability to help you automate something using voodoo, or to allow you to do something you cant do in survival that would actually be useful and new. I hope that clears up my meaning.
Now that school has started i have been updating less frequently, I'm getting just as much work done, but I'm not updating things like my github, or this thread as often as I used to, I'm still checking for ideas, so keep them coming.
P.S
The 3-d portals are almost done, I'll most likely put up a video on my youtube of them once they are finished
