Nice work, I'll beta/alpha test if you want.

Ok guys ALOT of work went in today to make the start of machines programming possible. One of the many sacrifices was the temporary loss of SMP. I will re-add SMP perhaps when machines gets closer to finished. For now Most of my info is on the Wiki (see main thread post). I hope that everything works so far for SSP. If you find any bugs let me know!

Where this is nice Im going to have closed beta testing. Now this does not mean that it is only people I have talked to and be friends with all my life! Everyone has equal chance, but until I have a form up on the wiki, there will be no saved spots. This was changed after I asked KillSpammer to post.

I have some bad news. Due to my upcoming schedule, progress will be hindered which means a delayed release of Machines.
I will do my best to code each day, but my schedule is pretty busy for the next 2 weeks. =(

We shall see what I can do with this limited scheduling, Who knows. I may be able to release =D

Yeah so far a lot of the work has been going into only a part of Machines, as there is a group of Items that will require A LOT of focus. Im hoping to have an alpha test that is invite only soon of these items, but I need something in place for that to happen first. This coming weekend may be slow as Im having to pack up to return home soon. We shall see how much I get done

Oh! Soar, I've got an idea for power transfer, and generation, if you can get it. (Halla from the IRC) Anyways, Tesla Coils. Not the ones that IC2 have, but Tesla Coils based off what they were made for. Tesla Coils are a generator that produces more power than it consumes, enabling it to power itself. Telsa Coils transmit power over towers, by firing a burst of pure electricity between towers. I think something like this would work quite well with your mod, since the original creator of the Tesla Coil was assassinated because of his design, so it's still a futuristic technology to us.

Found a bug i think, with version 0.7.6. wierd textures of parts of chunks start floating around. happens in NEI too. i have screenshots:

if you look closely at the NEI shots you can see some weird textures in the blocks and items area.

EDIT: Nevermind, just haad it occur without xycraft installed so i think its optifine, though that still makes very little sense...

If there is still a spot open, i'd be happy to be a alpha/beta tester, except i'll also have to try it on MultiMC, so my .jar stays clean
And i am also GREAT on tech mods liek bc and rp2 and ic2, so i would be a good person to try out this mod, and when you've got some more machines in, i would like to stay on the tester list

This certainly looks like it could be a cool mod when it comes out, not that I have much to work off of. With it's world gen tweaks, I would guess that it would require a new world to be created when it comes out. I don't really have many good ideas at this point, and not knowing for sure the "feel" of this mod I can't be sure it will fit in, and not being a java developer or modder I don't know if it could be implemented, but I do have one idea, though it would really be more suited for a mod like redpower. As you no doubt know, redpower has a deployer that simulates a right click. The thing I really wanted though, something that for me at least would be tremendously useful, is a device that simulates the player's right click. The idea would be, if you put it next to a furnace for example, when it recieved a redstone pulse it would tell the game the player was right clicking it and open the gui. Or with the mystcraft mod for an example, it could send the player into the age of a linking book in it's inventory on recieving a redstone pulse. It could hold right click until the redstone pulse stops, thus allowing for an item requiring charge time like a bow or linking book. Components would have to be semi expensive, the best I can come up with is an ender pearl, a piston, a leather, two redstone, two gold nuggets and two glass. Keep in mind, this recipe was thought up for a crafting table (thus the nine items), and is thus not necessarily a good recipe for your custom system. If you want to know the shape of it when I thought it up (for a recipe in 3x3), I'll post it, but since it will probably be in your custom crafting system, I won't post it in this post.
