Looks great so far man, nice work! I'd be interested to see how these processes evolve, and I like the idea of having to seek out specific biomes to get certain things done.
I'm not sure I'll have any time to test it in the near future, but I'll be keeping an eye on its development
Heh, those armors are a bit goofy! Making samurai armor is gonna be tricky. I would suggest trying to add the flares to the helmets of you can, and do something other than those diamond shaped thingies, they look too awkward to me. And thanks for all the explanations. I'll tell you what I often tell modders- what's most important is that you enjoy what you're doing!
Yeah, I'm glad you think they are goofy tbh ... The more I look at them, the more I don't like them. I'mma redo them at some point in the next couple of days ...
Haha, yeah, I agree entirely. The moment a modder stops enjoying modding and the content they are adding is often the moment the mods start to go downhill. But thankfully, I'm loving it at the minute ;).

Haha, I read that without reading your name, kaos, and was pleasantly surprised when I saw it was you :). Yeah, I appreciate you have your hands full testing wise with your deco-add on, but thanks for the support! The reason I'm calling the cherry trees sakura and the paper walls (When I add them) as shoji is due to the fact that I don't want to have two items with the same name on my game, as I will be using yours alongside mine (although I haven't tried it at the minute, dunno how that works with the current IDs, as my test version for this is just BTW, TMI and this).
Much better! It's so hard to get the scaly, studded-type of look for most armors in Minecraft, so I think you did a very honest representation there. The horns on the head look better too, although I think they should be higher up a bit since the helmets are open-faced. The only thing I'd suggest is the same as before, if possible- add the flanges at the bottom of the helmet.
Also, if you haven't played around with it already, try to make it clear that the bottom part of the helmet is separate- since it's technically a demon-facemask. It looks pretty tough to try to do that though and it does look good as is, other than missing the demon moustaches, which I imagine would be even harder to do.
Well done! I'd definitely wear that armor if I made it, much more so than the last one.
i really love this mod. Japan is my favorite country/culture but i don't like the fact that the sakura blossoms are so purple i think they should bee pink and also since your adding 2 swords i assume one will be a katana but i think you should add a naginata and tetsubo as well also ninjas are a big part of Japanese culture since they fought samurai so that would be cool if you could implement them in some how.

Glad you guys like the new textures.
I'm with you on the demon facemask thing. But the moustache is impossibly hard with the few pixles I have to work with! Obviously it's not a finished texture, everything is still in a working mode. :).

I'm glad you enjoy it, Kilba. Yeah, the sakura blossoms are too purple, I agree, it is on my to do list :).
Ninjas &c are something I am considering, but bear in mind this is only 8 days old (and I've only been learning how to code for two weeks), so nowhere near everything is written in to my OP plan. Your suggestions have been noted, thank you.
Any other suggestions for things to add/directions to take are much appreciated. Thanks all!
You should add paper sheet curtans like how sensi's have those curtans infront of there door in there dojo, you should add those!
That's what Shoji are, my friend :). I will get to them at some point in the near future, along with Fusuma - they are the decorated wall panels - and Tatami - they are the mats in Japanese rooms. :).
Wow! Beautiful mod! The only change I would make is how the Sakura Trees stand out too much. It should be a lighter shade of violet. Also, you should implement Cherry Blossoms with a very faint and light pink colour. I don't know, I just think it would look nicer. Also, if you plan to add a Katana, I have an idea for a crafting recipe. It might look nice if you had to use Sakura Branches, two gold nuggets beside it, and two ores (Diamonds, Iron, Gold, Cobble, Wood).
Another good idea I think is not only Sandstone and Wood Villages, but Japanese villages with Rice Farms instead of wheat farms. I can help with the architecture of the building if you'd like, but it's all up to you.
As you know, boats are very difficult to steer and maneuver. It would be really nice to see a Japanese Boats that have better steering mechanics like the ability to make sharper turns, to make slow turns, to speed up, and to be able to make good landings always if on dirt, sand, soulsand, or clay. A nice recipe would be a boat in the middle, a paddle to both sides, a sail on the top, and some dried bamboo on all on the bottom. Just an idea, but still, all your choice.
And lastly, I think an important step of Japanese culture is painting. You should make a way to be able to paint very oriental pictures. You can work on the mechanics

Thanks for you feedback, it's very much appreciated :).
As far as sakura trees texture go, it is high on my to do list to change the colour a bit. However, your comment about cherry blossoms confused me - sakura are cherry blossoms, so I'm not quite sure what you mean?
As far as katanas go, they will be implemented, but you will have to craft jewel steel (tamahagne or something, it's on the OP somewhere) to craft it from - I don't want to get into wood/iron/diamond/stone/gold variants of it, to be honest.
Villages are tricky: 1) I don't want to edit world gen, which means adding them in another dimension. 2) such villages would use a lot of the architectural detail I'm planning to add (naturally), and as such would provide a shortcut for obtaining these items. However, it is something I will give more thought to, in my "new dimension" pot of consideration.
I don't know how easy it would be to code a new boat, but that's certainly a good idea for something to consider - I shall add it to my list :).
Regarding paintings, I'm planning to have fusuma (spelling might be wrong, I'm tired ...) which are the wooden panels in japanese homes which are often highly decorated. If I can work out the coding, I plan to have these have random selection from a variety of images for them, similar to the way paintings work.
Thanks for your input, and for being your first post by the looks of things!

Oh, what I meant was a different colour, sorry if that didn't make any sense, my English is exploding in failure today xD.
So anyways, I meant it should either be pale pink or a light violet. I'd enjoy the pale pink because it's more traditional and it makes the eyes relax a bit more...
And you could find a way to craft this 'jewelled steel' and possibly have a possibility of a jade appearing from emerald ore in the future. That could also help to replace the 'natural ores', and perhaps using the special wood to make wooden katanas?
Just incase you didn't know, ipodmail did a review on this, and he really likes it. I think it has alot of potential and effective colour in this. Oh yeah, you should try to avoid texture packs to join on this since it kind of lags for some people xD
There should also be something where you have to travel to more existing biome to forge a special kind of metal, like the Taiga to get ice, Desert to dry, then to the forest to add dampness, to the nether to strengthen, to the Ocean to cool off, then to the end to End to forge.
Something cool like that.
Man, I feel like I should stop typing giant paragraphs, they must be really annoying to read, but anyways, hope you like the idea, I do definetly like yours xD
(Post Note: I would like to be a beta tester... Is that just by downloading the mod?)
You should make bamboo swords that don't deal very much damage or none and can be used to knock mobs back or train with other players. Or bamboo training dummies! (not enough mods have training dummies)
Ok, finally managed to get around to playing with the mod a bit.
Everything is nicely done from what I see so far, I like the simple concepts but they require work.
The only thing I would suggest changing so far is upping the amount soaking that can be accomplished by a single bucket of water- if your goal is to have players leave the soaking for a while, this gets defeated a bit if players need to come back every 2 soakings to add more water. Although, it is a bit strange to even need a bucket of water when the thing is submerged completely!
I'm not sure I'll have any time to test it in the near future, but I'll be keeping an eye on its development

I would do, but I'm definitely not going with that design now, so I won't. I'll be sure to make the next round brighter though :).
Thoughts?
