Also, Cthulhu worship! You can sacrifice for more and more powerful items and create the items neccessary to awaken Cthulhu. You can use an item from 50 sacrifices to locate R'Lyeh and go into the entracne chamber. You set in the five keystone items (like the TC2 keystones) and then do a special ritual to awaken He Who Sleeps! Then he gives you godlike powers and slowly devours the world with His presence, and you become the master of the world.

You know, some of us might have a problem with "worshiping" Cthulhu even in a game...
Maybe we better leave deities out of it?
Though I am Agnostic myself and have no religious qualms with this I have to say "NO WAY!"
1, There are many out there that will take offense to this.
2, The mod has always taken the stance of a natural energy force that anyone can tap. Not one of pledge your alliegance to the forces of darkness and be rewarded.
3, My suggestion, make a separate mod or an Add-on to add this content for those who want it.
I would support Divine Magic as an add-on. I probably wouldn't use it, because I like my magic to have defined rules, not be dependent on the whims of some capricious divinity.. but it could be cool if there were a small number of deities which were at odds with each other, and rising too high in one deity's esteem meant that the rest of them would refuse you service. Like, if you send your sacrifices to Cthulhu, eventually Gaia will stop working with you, and all your crops will stop growing.
One thing that I think will be necessary, if you choose to keep the crystals from ThaumCraft, and that I would appreciate if you would code into ThaumCraft, is that crystals that drop far away from the player without player interaction, and are not picked up, automatically replace themselves on the nearest surface. A while ago I had to install SinglePlayerCommands because I was getting tired of some such simple thing (such as dying and loosing everything, or not being able to get to drops, honestly, I don't recall... but, anyway, I noticed that as I walked around I would keep getting the crystals at random. I'm assuming they drop because they are created improperly and basically aren't attached to a block, but it makes it so that they despawn before the player can even realize that something happened (as we are nowhere near it when it happens).
Another possible way of fixing this is to be sure that they spawn attached to a block... but I'm gonna suggest in the Forge thread that they create a 'block' that holds drops (similar to the one that is used in EquivilentExchange when using their equipment to mine), and a way to have items with associated blocks reform the blocks after a while.
Thank you for your attention, and if you don't see the need for the above, I'll certainly understand.
*Make Thaumic Slimes more passive, like the wisps. Maybe add a dark purple, aggressive, version for high taint chunks.
*Bring back Eldritch Trees in some form. I suggest when you harvest some wood, it spawns some of those Grubs.
*Add some very basic research for items like the Animated Piston, Enchanted Fabric and Thaumium Ingot. Obtainable with common items (cobble, sand etc). Would be a "Basic Knowledge" category in the Thaumonomicon with Theorys only being up to Moderate difficulty.
*Add some very hard research for Golden Items. For example, Golden Axe of the Stream. Would be the same, except that it never runs out or needs repairing. Would be an "Arcane Knowledge" category in the Thaumonomicon with Theorys only being as low as Hard difficulty. Researched with the normal item (like an Axe of the Stream) and the infusion recipe needing atleast a Gold Block and 1,000 Vis.
*Seals. Encourage taint in a chunk. Creates an infinite Lava Source Block. Turns Dirt/Grass into Sand. Causes random saplings to appear. Removes light from any block in an area. Increases the spawn rate of mobs. Automatically shears sheep. Causes chickens to moult (randomly leaving feathers). Heals player (reduces vis in chunk). Causes Stone/Cobble to change to Moss over time. Creates a tall visual beacon.
I think for the this mod, there should be more ores other the crystals, quicksilver, thaumium igots, and void ingots. Also there should be more resources to deal with.
Runic Bars
The result of cooking thaumium bars in a Arcane Furnace. They are even more enchantable then there thaumium counter parts.
Enchanted Taintwood
By puting a taintwood log and a taint crystal in a dark infuser, you can get enchanted taintwood. The resulting wood can be used to make a variety of tainted objects. A example of one is the soul engine. Combined with some soul fragments, enchanted taint wood, glass, and a piston, you get this. What it does is like the thaumic generator, it produces any type of energy, however, it runs on soul fragments instead of vis.
Canoptic Stone
To get this, you meraly have to infuse 5 stone a dark infuser. Canpotic stone is useless on its on other then the fact it gives off a light level of 4. What it can do is, it can be made into a container which can store all our soul fragments that can be used to fuel machines later.

I beat two super hostile maps, see of flame 2 and spellbound, have to finish more. Plan to do inferno mines for lulz and win when it goes out. Have fun!
This is just a minor nitpick but, in the future, instead of all items in a crucible produce both equal taint and vis, some items will produce more taint or vis then others. A example would be silverwood, it would produce a lot of vis, but very little taint, likewise a soul fragment would produce a lot of taint and very little vis.

One of the big changes between TC2 and this is less/no use of the crucible as a vis source. It seems to be headed towards a role as a crafting method for low-level materials and products.

I know that, but I want to keep that in mind. Because ain't it a bit crazy that very pure things like silverwood make taint?

It's just a brainstorming session for now.

How about 9:1 Vis/Taint ? In current Thaumcraft.
Just because there's bad examples exist, it's not a reason to not try and make a good mod.
