If we're adding better dungeons, I thought of something...
Deep in deserts you can find sandstone and stone brick dungeons or ruins, much like strongholds, but somewhat smaller.
Mostly unlit, and filled with what appears to be ruined machinery. Some unique mobs and fixtures can be found inside.
Hidden inside is a structure like a end portal, made out of a mysterious iron block. In truth, it is a generator that would power the dungeon-if it had any fuel. The ruins were once mines created by the Kyther, a civilization obsessed with unlocking crystal energy. The only way to reactivate the generator is by throwing a number of diamonds into the machine (at least 2 and no more than 8).
Oh, you thought that was the hard part? The real difficulty is getting out. The ruins have sprung to life, and the defense systems within the mine have activated.
What is the point of traversing the ruins if all they do is try to kill you, you might ask? Well that's not all they do. The defense systems (sentry bots) can be destroyed, and machinery smashed to recieve Kytheric devices. All they do is look fancy, but they can be melted down to recieve Kytheric Alloy, in the form of ingots. They make average tools, but have other uses...
The Kytheric Alloy can be combined with iron ingots on the (Anvil, maybe?) to Make Kytheric Iron (the same stuff the generator was made of). It can be placed as a block.
Now why do you want all this Kytheric crap? Because, you can combine Kytheric Alloy and Iron with with redstone and diamonds on the anvil to replicate Kytheric machinery. The most obvious uses is to make sentries to protect your castle from creepers & greifers, but it can also be used to create factories and other automatic systems.
Just throwing ideas into the void, don't really expect a response.
Feel free to ignore all this, blah, blah, blah.
EDIT: This really doesn't have anything to do with this topic at all. I'll go post this somewhere else. Ignore this, if you please.
Okay, now I have some serious ideas. At the writing desk, you can copy spells to paper and make scrolls. It would be a spell in the form of a 1-time use item. You can use a scroll even if you aren't a mage.
You mentioned dragons having uses. If you kill a dragon, it might drop dragon scales, which could be used to craft Dragonscale Armor (Brightsteel Armor w/ a different texture and maybe some special properties). If you are REALLY lucky (and heartless enough to do the job), and that dragon you killed was a mommy, then it drops a dragon egg. Keep it on a hot netherrack fire, and it might hatch into a tame dragon. Basically a really big, tough fire-breating wolf that you can ride and fly around on.
If you have something like enchantment levels from vanilla, then I would suggest giving steel almost nonexistent enchantability. Everyone knows that steel is too man-made to be magical :wink.gif:. And here, let's add new enchantments:
Defuser:
Has a chance of destroying a creeper it hits.
Vorpal:
Has a higher chance of scoring a critical hit, and makes criticals more deadly.
Banishment:
Sends Endermen back to the end, and if by some chance a nether mob gets into the overworld, it sends those back too.
Refinement:
"Processes" an block it breaks. Stone becomes stone bricks. Logs drop wood planks. It won't always smelt ores into ingots, though.
War:
Makes the tool it enchants effective as a weapon, like a sword of the same material. War tools still count as tools for the purpose of enchanting, so items like vorpal pickaxes are impossible.
You mentioned someting about making the oceans better. I would suggest you look at the Oceancraft thread, which is exactly about making the oceans better.
If there are meteors, than thay shouldn't always compose of brightsteel. Most of them should be made of other ores.
And brightsteel should probobly be renamed to something original.
I know it looks kind of like I'm trying to take controll of this mod, but I'm not. Really.
I SUPPORT this mod and EAGERLY await release.
I think my face just exploded from awesome...
This thread needs more views.
I would love to work on this mod, but I lack any sort of significant coding experience.
I can't wait for the mod API, but of course there will also be a rush of dirt pickaxe mods, etc.
One thing I want is more challenging mobs that appear to attack more advanced players. All the vanilla mobs are approximately the same difficulty level (except zombies, they're easier to kill then pigs), and with the superpower endgame-ish equipment this promises, the game would stagnate. I have a few suggestions-
Endercreepers (teleporting creepers)
Trolls (Big, tough, zombie-style mobs that regenerate)
Prefix Mobs (that one feature that was never added...)
Hostile NPC's (With equipment to match your own. But not the Squidward kind. Please.)
Overworld Dragons (that other feature that won't be added, it seems...)
Armored Mobs (Skeleton in full Brightsteel armor? S***!)
Armed Mobs (Zombie with an ebony sword? F***!)
I agree with what you have to say about enchanting, but the potions are okay, I think.
If you change how alchemy works, I think you should keep some of the old potion ingredients with similar uses. That would be cool, in my opinion.
My last suggestion would be to improve dungeons somehow. Thay are just really dissapointiing, as they are, and this kind of mod would be a good backdrop for improvement. Ancient temples, shrines to magic, whatever. In any case, regular dungeons would go terribly with a fantasy mod like this (this IS fantasy, right?).
By the way, feel free to ignore this post, if you disagree. If you do reply, keep it civilized, no-one likes a troll.
Nice to see someone else who appreciates it. I've given up on Minecraft really, because it's just turned into a shitty game and there is next to no chance of this happening. I'll discuss your ideas, though.
Better monsters - Yeah, there will be more complex monsters roaming the lands.
Endercreepers - I'm not really a fan of creepers all together, or Endermen. Creepers in SMP are not synced correctly (nothing is) so they appear to be further then they are, resulting in a explosion from far away and destroying terrain, as well as the explosion doing more damage than it should, so it's just really stupid, not to mention that most players can't deal with creepers anyway, so the whole map is like swiss cheese. I don't like endermen because they are not scary, just stupid. They just teleport away every time you try to attack them, and sometimes tp out of the range it's aggro to you, or where you can't find them so most of the time no one wins. When you do, it almost never drops a ender pearl, which would be kind of cool, if it wasn't for the fact that you can only use them once, which makes is almost pointless to try to get them, they hurt you for no reason when you use them, they are glitchy and don't always tp you to where you want to go and if it hits a wall sometimes you tp INTO the wall. Not to mention that looking at endermen doesn't even work in SMP, so you must attack them, and then it's a glitchy version of the already glitchy fight. Combined these two mods? Right. First I have to fix them both...
Trolls - Like Skyrim? Sounds cool.
Prefix Mobs? - Um. I suppose I could think about it...
Hostile NPC's - No. I don't want any AI. All other people will be provided by ACTUAL PLAYERS which is one of the major things in this. No random "bandits" that attack you. Actual players who are bandits who attack you. Not NPC's where you can buy a potion for gold. You go to players who know some Alchemy things (things are hard to do, you can't do it all yourself, you have to go to people who can make potions, everything is complex and hard not incredibly easy like making potions in vanilla (which is incredibly hard because of the stupid to get netherwart)) and buy a potion.
Overworld Dragons - I already said that was in. Also, they will be good, not pointless and shitty and stupid like the Endhurr Dragon.
Armored/Armed Mobs - I think that skeletons will be ACTUAL skeletons of players, so that will depend on what they were wearing. Not sure about zombies. But yeah, that can work.
Thanks, I like my enchanting system. Potions are ****. About 5 potions that are easy to make with boring affects. I guess we can keep some ingredients, but a poopton more are being added.
Improving dungeons - Maybe. I'm not a fan of large dungeon generators, like shitholds, which are pooply made and make for horrible bases. Existing dungeons will be more common (so that you actually find them, like in alpha.) and will have spell tomes, knowledge walls, and better rewards. They will probably be slightly bigger with traps and such.

Enchantments will be different than vanilla enchantments, but these are good for advanced afftects. Some of them, anyway.
You mentioned someting about making the oceans better. I would suggest you look at the Oceancraft thread, which is exactly about making the oceans better.
I'll take a look.
If there are meteors, than thay shouldn't always compose of brightsteel. Most of them should be made of other ores.
And brightsteel should probobly be renamed to something original.
Meteors are very rare and are always made of Brightsteel. And there's no way I'm changing the name, everyone is criticizing it, but I'm a huge Eragon fan. I'm trying to do it more as a tribute to the series, not copying it.
I know it looks kind of like I'm trying to take controll of this mod, but I'm not. Really.
Actually, I kind of want you on the team. Feel free to add me on Skype, it's the same as my forum name.
Well, I'm flattered that you want me on the team, but skype won't work for personal reasons, and you should know that my Java programming skill is nonexistant (Unfortunateley). However, my Email Is [email protected] (There is NOT supposed to be a letter R in that address), If you want to contact me there.
In response to your responses to my posts:
So we're taking down creepers. That makes me genuinely sad, creepers were my fave mob. I am relieved to hear that it's not entirely my fault that I'm so bad at killing creepers, though. I agree, endermen were really only scary in concept. In execution they phailed.
You don't have to do prefix mobs. Just something I thought of.
Sorry I missed the post about dragons being in.
When I said to keep some old potion ingredients, I was really only talking about redstone and glowstone, Because that's really the only use for redstone, and glowstone dust has only one other use, and it's common anyways. I probly should have been more specific.
How will potions work? will the Brewing stand be changed, or will a new medium for potions be added?
As for "shitholds", the problem with them is that they don't have anything a player couldn't make given time, and that makes them boring. Dungeons should have special fixtures and mobs that can't be found anywhere else, and I see that you want to add that too. If a spell tome teaches you a spell, then what does a knowledge wall do?
How will Enchanting work? What system will be used for the effects on the weapns? And what exactly is a magetallow candle?
Some questions:
How will critical hints work? WIll there be critical hits?
Will your enchanting table overwrite the vanilla table?
What vanilla mobs will be kept?
What use does a scabbard have?
Diamonds are gone? Aww, man! Oh well. Ebony mined from the bottom of the world is cooler than some sparkly blue pebble. Ebony looks like coal. Was that intentional?
This is clearly a Multiplayer mod. That really wan't clear from reading the description.
Lastly, I just want to clarify. When I said to rename brightsteel, I wasn't thinking you were copying it. My concern is that if we have too many references to other works, the mod will seem dull and unoriginal, even if we were just paying tribute.
If you could use another pixel artist, i would love to help, pm me anything you need textured and what you would like it to look like and i will get on it
I may make this. Ill start with the ores when MCP comes out for 1.2.3 . Really Awesome Ideas dude. You can contact me with the PM ill send you. Edit: Nevermind you don't have an email attached to your account
Well, I'm flattered that you want me on the team, but skype won't work for personal reasons Ok, how about steam? Email is too slow and cumbersome. and you should know that my Java programming skill is nonexistant (Unfortunateley). How will Enchanting work? What system will be used for the effects on the weapns? And what exactly is a magetallow candle? Enchanting will be more like skyrim/oblivion. A magetallow candle is something from oblivion, and in CC it will be used to power the enchantments.
Some questions:
How will critical hints work? WIll there be critical hits?
They won't happen when you jump and attack, that's for sure.
Will your enchanting table overwrite the vanilla table?
Yes.
What vanilla mobs will be kept?
The question should be what vanilla mobs WON'T be kept.
What use does a scabbard have?
Storing the sword, protecting it from wear and tear, aesthetics.
Diamonds are gone? Aww, man! Oh well. They aren't gone, they just aren't magically shoved together and onto a stick to make a sword. They're for jewelry and decoration and some magical uses. Probably even more valuable then before. Ebony mined from the bottom of the world is cooler than some sparkly blue pebble. Ebony looks like coal. Was that intentional?
No. It's supposed to be dark purple. (it is)
This is clearly a Multiplayer mod. That really wan't clear from reading the description.
Oh.

I do tend to overreact and assume bad things are happening when thay arent (Oh no! blues removing STONE from complexcraft!).
I think redstone is kind of useless except for adventure maps and CPUs (an adventure map with this mod would be BOSS), and redstone computers are useless. I only use about 5 percent of the redstone I find in wiring.
So what do you think the problem with Strongholds is?
How does one craft the Magetallow candle? I mean, it's not like you can buy them from generic NPC merchants.
Using a scabbard allows people to see you wear it on your back?

I like to hook up contraptions and such in my house.
So what do you think the problem with Strongholds is?
They're repetetive, badly generated, not worth exploring, destroyed by ravines...

Using a scabbard allows people to see you wear it on your back?
Scabbards go in a hip slot in the clothes gui (much bigger than normal) and when you put a sword in the scabbard, people can see you wearing the sword in the scabbard (they can see you just wearing the scabbar without a sword, too). There are a few types of scabbards, including metal, leather/fabric, or a strip of leather holding it so you can see the blade/

If you're referring to my text, it's actually "Navy". At least, this one is.
this is one of those minecraft mods that is awesome but doesn't get as much attention as it should
wait a sec, just an idea
Yeah, but it still doesn't get enough attention as it should. People posting is what fuels me to post more, and the more people post and the more I write the better chance of this being made.
