After using this mod for a few days, I have some thoughts:
I'm not sure I like the particles around my dragon. It might be because I've been experimenting with the skin, and floating purple particles don't go nicely with different colors of dragon.
I am also not sure if I like the model changes. The Ender Dragon was designed, by the look of it, to walk on its hind legs only. Your altered model looks a bit too heavy for the new, skinnier legs.
The control is very fun, but it needs a few tweaks. First, there needs to be a way to hover in place. Second, there should be a way to look around without changing your flight path - how can I enjoy the scenery when my dragon tries to faceplant into everything I look at? I suggest that the "walk forwards" key cause the dragon to hold its trajectory, and the "walk backwards" key cause it to hover.
I should also be unable to accidentally attack my dragon while I'm riding it. Especially with arrows - here I am with a perfect vantage point for sniping monsters, but I can't because if I aim anywhere below me, I end up nailing my dragon in the back.
And on the subject of the dragon taking damage, an indication of its current health, like the wolves' tails, and the ability to feed it meat, would be nice. I suspect you already have this planned, though, but it still bears mentioning. (EDIT: and now that I look at the first post, I see that you've got this covered already. Curse you Kais, y u skim so much?)
When I dismount the dragon, I take fall damage. Could the spot where the player appears after dismounting be lowered a bit?
Other than that, just wanna mention that this is the first actual gameplay-altering mod that I'm willing to use in proper gameplay, and the first mod that I plan on supporting in my texture packs. You've made it fit into Minecraft's existing gameplay almost perfectly, and produced a worthwhile reward for fighting the Ender Dragon. So, thanks and keep up the good work!

Hm, maybe I'll turn it off. It's difficult to distribute the particles around the body properly anyway.

Well, I really can't imagine that dragon walking on two legs like Godzilla. If it had two legs only, it would actually make sense, but even the Skyrim dragons (or rather wyverns, as Notch would call them) use all four limbs for walking. I think the proportions of the legs are good as they're now.

Agreed, it needs more tuning. Still need to figure out how to control it directly. But I'm afraid that the movement will become too jerky compared to the current smoothness... I hope I can combine the current system with direct control somehow.

Haha, I noticed that problem, too :biggrin.gif:
Well, that would requires an conditional hitbox, not sure if this is possible without changing the basic classes.

Wow, thanks! I'll keep doing my very best :smile.gif:
Great mod! only one thing i'd like to request though. Craftable eggs.
Thank you. I don't mind if you deny this, but it would make things easy (sort of, seeing how hard it is to make and mine obsidian).
That's a good idea, but I'd like to make that recipe "unlockable", with the defeat of the Ender Dragon as requirement. Then the egg won't be entirely lost in case you drop it into lava or something like that :smile.gif:
You can now saddle dragons with the saddle item. Unsaddled dragons can be controlled by height only. The saddle will be dropped when the dragon transforms back into an egg.
Dragons are now hydrophobic and won't submerge in water.
Dragons won't take damage from their riders anymore.
You can now unmount from a flying dragon egg at any time.
Dragon eggs won't damage the terrain anymore.
Dragons can now be hurt from all types of damage, including attacking each other.
The egg will now check if there's enough room for the dragon to spawn.
Holding another dragon egg while riding a dragon will now enable the noclip mode (an overlay similar to charged creepers will be visible).
Improved unmount positioning to avoid fall damage.
Projectiles and other damage sources are now registered correctly on all hitboxes.
Projectile collision detection is now disabled on the dragon when the rider is using the bow.
Turned off body particle effects (on request :tongue.gif:).
Hi
I love this mod and hope it can progress to MP I run a small Server where the players RP as dragons this would be epic. in your updates that can include a bukkit plugin if i can suggest
- invisible rider, so for us RPing on my server it can be us
- an option to not use the egg and just have the player jump in the air and change forms
- maybe a way to tint the dragons texture? so every one can be colored different
I know the players on my server will be more than happy to install the files on all there own MC folder if need be and use spout
but it's a once in a lifetime chance because
1.You can only get the dragon egg after beating the ender dragon once and it is not possible to get a other one since you can only beat the ender dragon once without cheating to spawn a ender dragon or a ender egg

Well, when multiplayer support is in, I can probably add configuration options for server owners. But that's a future plan.

No, you can re-use the egg and even the saddle. And I plan to create an unlockable recipe for crafting more eggs.
As stated before, I would really like to implement walking, but it's really difficult. Maybe it's easier if the terrain elevation is ignored when moving the legs, but... hmpf :biggrin.gif:
You could use some of SDK's ATVs code, That thing goes up 1 high blocks at a 45' Angle, It might be usefull. Youknow if you waned to make it so the dragon didnt have to jump :tongue.gif:
Hm, doesn't tell me much. Do you have a link for that? But yeah, I obviously don't want jumping dragons. :biggrin.gif:
i cant wait for this to be on multiplayer cus im playing 4 pillar survival and i could break our island at the end and we will all ride off into the distance with our enderdragons i cant wait
EDIT: bookmarked and done i will download it when it goes onto smp good work though i dont even know how to code
um......
it isnt compatible whit the new mo's creatures
btw nice mod
What? i have mo creatures on and this mod too and they work perfectly (your probably not installing the mod right) Get your facts right + you need proof it does'int works to (error code)

Yes, I'll care for that later :tongue.gif:
Hm... I could try to teleport the player closer to the ground after dismounting.

Are you kidding me that was one of the best parts D:
Egg hatching would be really cool.
That actually is pretty nice idea you got there. I hope it would be added.

That's one sentence with an idea that requires hundreds to thousands of code lines to realize :wink.gif:

That's where autodidacticism comes in handy.
