If you make it to multiplayer it would be awesome just think of the possibilitys for minecraft series on youtube rpg servers or private servers where you could fly around whit your friends end less
Also, I can't help but feel it short-changes the dragons somewhat. One would assume that a creature so large and powerful would be a reasonably proficient flyer, able to hover in the air and rotate their bodies while flapping without any real difficulty. The old system somehow felt more natural for this, and more real...more believable. If dragons really did exist, one could imagine them being capable of moving in such a way, and indeed doing so in their day to day life. The new system, though, severely limits that, and somehow it feels like they have lost some of their personality and realism in the process.
In real life, a creature of that size would be anything but a good flyer, probably not even a flyer at all. It's against the laws of aerodynamics and physiology. They're just too large, too heavy and by far not aerodynamic enough, at least for most "classic" dragon designs. Even if their wings are actually large enough to hold their weight, they still would be gliders at most (gliding lizards actually exist, btw.). All you can do is to just make them look believable and ignore some laws here and there.
But I see your point, the current controls are difficult to use in combat. But I also don't like the idea of having different modes that can be switched between in a config file. The best thing I can and want to do is to have a modifier key to quickly switch between two modes and the control key change was a first test for that.
Perhaps you're right, although I'm sure I recall reading somewhere a scientific analysis of how dragons could actually exist in real life...
Anyways, might I perhaps be so bold as to ask what it is about a config file that you dislike so much man? What is wrong with having a simple option to allow a little more customization for those who want it? Minecraft is a sandbox game, all about customizing your playing experience to how you like it, after all.
I'd prefer the modifier key than a config. I wouldn't have to close my game just to switch between the two

It's not the customization that is problematic, it's the way how it's customized. From my experiences in this thread, many don't even know where the config file is located. Then you need to tell them what exactly needs to be changed. And it's all tedious even if you try to explain it in the original post. I personally don't mind using config files, but it doesn't seem to be the preferred way of normal people, which I understand.
Maybe the official API will provide a universal way to configure all mods in the graphical options menu, but yeah... not yet. So I need to find a different way, because I don't want to write a GUI just for that, it's wasted effort that should be spend somewhere else.
I had a suggestion for dragon breeds,.....now I know what you are going to say.
SHUT UP or ect hatred mentioning novels, ect.
But I do not mean elemental types I mean Breeds (think of cats rats or dogs).
As appear in the Temeraire Series in that manner I am sorry if that is to much.
If any thing i simply mean different body types.
I sha stop now and appologize if this is impossible...
If it is impossible then I must ask what Happend to dragons out rightly damaging mobs the collided with?(my dragons only send them flying)

You could use the Photoshop file included in the source code.
in regards to dragons flying every documentation I have heard trying to make the realistically fly one answer is Proposed.
Flight bladders or air sacks(storing hydrogen perhaps?) appearing like a second pair of lungs to that what do you say?

I think there needs to be a way to breed dragons by making the dragon egg a crafting recipe. First, the crafting recipe idea: 4 diamond blocks on the corners, 1 endstone in the middle, and 4 obsidian in the remaining places. Second, breeding method: Hold 2 diamonds in your hand (this can only happen with a diamond in your hand) and right click on two dragons and then will appear a baby dragon which will grow into an adult just like dogs!
BarracudaATA, is this a good idea? I really want to know.
I agree that a GUI wouldn't be the best option bro, it would indeed be a lot of unnecessary work. However I must confess I don't really see the issue with a config file. Placing a tutorial in the OP can be done in just a few screenshots or a well worded description, then if anybody asks about it, you could just direct them to that tutorial and leave it there. In fact in my experience reading mod threads on this forum, I've seen that usually a mod's fanbase who post regularly on the mod thread will offer solutions to newbies without the mod creator having to post a single word.
If a tutorial is detailed enough, and laid out in a simple and easy to follow fashion, then I don't think anybody would have a problem figuring out how to use it. And unless there's an error to be fixed, any queries about it could be answered with a simple 'read the tutorial in the OP' and that would be the end of the matter. I'd even be prepared to write said tutorial myself if required, it would probably be pretty simple.
I agree. Honestly config files are not hard, people are lazy. I love the GunsPlus plugin because of the nearly unlimited costimization, and it is all documented in the config file. Yet on every page of that thread there is someone asking how to do this or that and all they needed to do was read the config file (which they have to edit anyways) or use the search this thread button.
Sorry if that came off a little harsh but it is the one thing about making a plugin that makes me think twice (if Java didn't hurt my head).
I would like to say barracuda if u are ading dragons spawning natualy in the over world then u shood make it verry rare obviasly like they allredy are nutral eganst u untamed as what they shood be when u find them but if u find a dragon they shood be mutch more hader to tame maby u would have to fight the dragon first so the dragon can see if u are stronger than him/her and then ly down and u can put a saddle on him/her and then give them food for them to heal and then only they will become your companyons idk maby u could give them something more befor tameing them??? what ever the case make it a challeng for the player to tame there dragons that is if you do add this feature of spawning dragons randomly in the overworld

3) Much like your second choice but instead of a baby dragon, one 'drops' a dragon egg? Then when you 'hatch' the egg (place it and a few seconds/minutes later) the egg disappears and the baby appears.

1 m3 (1 Block) Stone weights about 5 Tons, and you can carry a huge crapload of it in Minecraft. I think they did not wanted to pay attention to being physically correct in this game so we can safely assume, that dragons can fly
You might be able to make 2 personal mods, but are you sure you know how to make such a complex mod as this? And these two mods of yours, what do they do?
1: is that it adds a new sword called the light sword it does almost instant kills on anything 2: this was too easy: infinite dispensers mod it makes dispensers fire unlimited items with only 1 in the inventory i dint saw anyone making this so i done italso why dont you add dragon breeding? even if you need a diamond i have tons of them even if you need endstone or other resouce i can do it! plzzzzz add it!

You can get only one dragon legitimately by defeating the Ender Dragon boss,
If you've got more than one for breeding, you obviously can spawn dragons in any amounts, thus making breeding pointless.
If you could simply craft eggs, the egg obtained by defeating the boss wouldn't be that valuable anymore.
But I think that will become more relevant once I've got this mod so far that we've multiple types and wild dragons.
Does it really matter?
