Or worse, people who learned it as a first language. I've seen foreign people who speak it better than some of the people I meet online who were born in America and grew up with English...

Jesus Christ! I joined this thread a month after it's creation and last checked it over 6 months ago, and I thought you had a lot of content then! This is simply glorious! I highly anticipate it's arrival

Thank you for such an enthusiastic post of feedback lol. However your suggestion to play as a mob would not work because the DWCM is a story driven game with you as the 12th Doctor.
You do realize that yofreke is the senior java developer for the iKingsSGC Mod Division right? Mostly all the major features such as the TARDIS Flight GUI has been coded by him lol.
Boy, I can just see you trying to pull that foot out of your mouth.
just want to say to the i king it looks like a great mod i will be waiting for an open alpha also i want to say (not telling you how to run things or anything) but it seemed kinda harsh how you laied some of these people of just cuase there ideas werent used
Welcome people who want pre-releases and are wondering why we dont do them.
To start this topic off I would just like to ask you......have you ever...ever seen a game developer release unstable snippets of a game that you cant even possibly behind to understand without having every little detail explained to you just so you can launch it.
All of that before a stable alpha version is even completed?
The answer is most likely....no.
This is not a mod as you know modifications to be. We are making a whole game within minecraft. This takes time and loads of work. We simply cannot be expected to try an maintain unstable and unfinished products to the thousands and thousands of our followers. That would be insane.
Our current stage of development is a stage called Pre-Alpha Development. What this means is that we are currently building the very framework of everything. This stage is meant for creating the hundreds of pieces (dots) and trying to play connect the dots and connect each feature to each other. All this while still trying to come up with more creative ways to do what we have planned. Sure we could be like the majority of modders and be totally uncreative and add a few blocks in add a few mobs in.....but that is dull and has been done to death. What happened to inspired creative thinking and its execution.
What would you rather have....us spending every waking moment of free time developing just for the sake of giving a crappy pre-release and struggling to handle the public outcry at the thousands of people who downloaded it and dont know how to operate it. Or would you rather have us developing this game in a way that we are comfortable and dont feel like we are working as slaves to you all for no pay.
We are doing this for free. The Mod Division is a small team. We have 1 java developer, 3 modelers (2 are inactive) , and we have me... I am the game designer, I come up with nearly all the concepts that you all see, I make all the textures, I do all the graphics I write all the posts and I do all the videos. We are a small team working hard for no pay and we have only recieved a small donation once and that went straight back into hosting the iKingsSGC Forums.
All the time we have goes into developing in a way that makes us feel proud of the work we do.
So, just let me ask you this. If I were to say screw it and release the mod in its current incomplete buggy as hell, error filled version. Which of these scenarios would be more likely to happen in all of reality.
Scenario #1 : The Dream World
We release a pre-release of a game that is totally incomplete and you need indepth knowledge of how we made our temporary systems
They somehow manage to install it into eclipse with no issues (good luck with that)
They manage to launch the game
They somehow magically find our entity spawner gui and get fairy dust to give them the knowledge to operate the GUi
They spawn some daleks
The Daleks start their process......
they eat all the computers ram and cpu power then......WHAM crash...maybe your game just crashes or maybe your CPU shuts down to protect itself...who knows
They launch the game again, they try to go to candyland......wham....crash! (broken currently in 1.2.3 because of anvil)
They launch the game again to find out they somehow are in the nether with no way out and every chunk loading at the same time...WHAMO CRASH AGAIN
They launch the game again they try to get into the tardis interior....wham you just corrupted every map you have in your saves folder (broken currently in 1.2.3 because of anvil)
They experience all of the above bugs (plus others I didnt list) and loose all their maps
They come onto the forums and dont rage, they just kindly say its awesome, i lost all my maps and loved everything that i couldnt use. I love you for releasing this pre-release of an unfinished game that corrupted all of my save files)
Everything is hunky dorey and with a utter of bippity boppity boo everything is perfect and noone is pissed off
Scenario #2: The Reality of Things
We release a pre-release of a game that is totally incomplete and you need indepth knowledge of how we made our temporary systems
They cannot install the project file eclipse with nothing going wrong
They just cant seem to manage to launch the game for hours
when they finally get it to work after hours and hours....if they can even manage that
They somehow magically find our entity spawner gui and get fairy dust to give them the knowledge to operate the GUi
They spawn some daleks
The Daleks start their processes......
they eat all the computers ram and cpu power then......WHAM crash...maybe your game just crashes or maybe your CPU shuts down to protect itself...who knows
They launch the game again, they try to go to candyland......wham....crash! (broken currently in 1.2.3 because of anvil)

They experience all of the above bugs (plus others I didnt list) and loose all their maps
They come onto the forums and rage on us, they say it took forever to get this thing to work, they say that it corrupted their save files. They hate us for releasing this pre-release of an unfinished game that corrupted all of their save files.
They scream at us to fix it and update the pre-release so that it works
Everything is not hunky dorey and they decide that after that they will never ever come back and get the game.
Now which of those is more of a realistic scenario.
The point of this entire post is basically
There will be no pre-release ever because of the time required to manage pre-releases
The time required to manage community backlash about the destructive snapshots
The fact that we have a small development team
The fact that we deserve to make this game at our own pace instead of rushing really bad stuff out
Any pre-release could be destructive to your game files or even your computer
The dots arent connected....you would never be able to comprehend how to work it
We are in a Pre-Alpha Stage.......meaning....we are way off from a public launch.

This is the kind of stuff people should be telling Jeb, because I think the reason Jeb is introducing so many bugs is because all he cares about is releases, not stability. So he constantly releases anything he can stamp the word 'stable' on even if it's not true, leaving us to wonder why we bothered updating. He needs to get through his thick skull that we don't wanna update every gosh dang week, we wanna enjoy Minecraft and follow the updates as they happen, like the old days of Minecraft with Notch, where we only cared if they lied to us about update release dates. And even then, those complaining people need to get some patience and stop acting like every developer is gonna bend to the will of little kids. I mean, I may be childish, but even these people have some things to teach me about immaturity... -.-

Couldnt agree more. For me part of minecrafts charm were the updates when you barely knew what you were getting. It was the suspense and anticipation that made every new update an adventurous thing. With these pre-releases or snapshots (depending on when they want to call them one or the other) Jeb is not only removing that charm but he is also slowly degrading the original game that at least the first 5 million people who bought the game fell in love with. Vanilla minecraft today is essentially a slap in older players of the game.
For developers it is a major kick in the balls because of the fact that they have way overcomplicated the code. I believe they overcomplicated it to make it seem like the fabled API will be of so much help. In reality all they really need to do is look at Forge for example and incorporate that into minecraft. It is the most beloved API for minecraft development after all.
Im not saying jeb isnt a good developer, he just isnt developing in a logical sense. Then again they are the million dollar company and we are the poor humble modding community but what they are doing is destabilizing this entire community. Personally I think they dont have any clue on howto proceed with the API yet they make the code more complicated in preparation to be our "savors"
what would you guys think if I did a gigantic iKings Daily Report containing all of the old and all the new stuff from Candyland that has been completed this far. Sooooo much content just in this one single planet Idk if your brains will implode from taking in all that info lol.
It seems you and I think a lot alike on subjects regarding how game release, updating, and content should be handled. And I also know where the problem began. Jeb was a fantastic developer before the new breed of the single most impatient people in the world struck before 1.0 and drove the entire dev team insane, especially Notch who constantly tried to convince everyone to be patient. Maybe that's why he left, and maybe that's why, essentially, Jeb is going insane on the inside while trying to keep up a show that he is still quite sane and good at what he's doing, believing we can't see the truth behind it all. If he would stop caving into pressure, maybe Minecraft could return to what it once was. But the community has to be able to show patience, first, and I doubt that'll ever happen again.... All people these days ever want is new new new, more content more content, enough is never enough... I ask, though, when will the cycle end? How long can they demand new things from a single development team?

Well you are partially correct. I do not believe that they are being pressured into releasing new versions by the community. Mojang is a multi-million dollar company and jeb probably makes a High 5 Figure salary.
Your post makes it seem that mojang is still that same old indie company from 2 years ago...they are not. Mojang is a rich company that has one major profit source, minecraft.
Their releasing updates is to satisfy their need to make it seem that development is still going on regardless if the updates are destructive and not what the original community wants. They are appealing to a new audience now instead of the audience that made the game popular originally. Minecraft is mojangs only cash cow and they will never let it die, so that is why they release updates regardless if they are good or not and not because of pressure by the community. (mostly people want bug fixes not features...besides they never add the things people want)
Below is a slightly updated version of our previous Official Plans for Release with a video for todays iKings Daily Report.
Pre-Alpha Development stage: Only Mod Division staff has access to the game. This is our current stage of development and this is not anywhere ready to need external testers. We test as we make. No need to mix in outsiders and wait for them to respond when we can do it faster ourselves.
A closed 5-Slot alpha group that will take place for at least 2 weeks to a month and a half (or however long it takes to finish the game enough so that you can play through the central storyline of the game)
The third phase of testing will be a larger alpha group (still closed however) somewhere around 20-30 slots in this alpha group. In this phase we will be adding all the secondary missions and just finishing up things that need to be finished and debugging everything. This allows us to change anything we need to without there being a major public out cry Then we will do an Exclusive Alpha to YouTubers and prominent members of the Minecraft community such as Direwolf20 (YouTube) and Paril (PlanetMinecraft) and others that produce content that we think is respectable. This version will hopefully be close to a public beta version. It will have most if not all of the core main features in the game and it will have mostly every bug worked out. This wont be a finished product but it will be playable enough to get in-depth bug reports. No Alpha member will be able to publish videos of the DWCM until the Public Beta is released as to not give them an unfair advantage over aspiring youtubers.
After that we will be opening a public beta eventually once the original alpha group (phase 2) and the bigger alpha group (phase 3) and the exlusive alpha (phase 4) have been able to play through the game and provide us with a list of bugs they come across of and features that they think should be added in before the beta is released.
PLEASE DO NOT ASK TO BE PART OF THE ALPHA GROUP OR WHEN IT WILL BE RELEASED, THERE IS NO ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE
