1) You say that terrain is old, but you are able to get new blocks. How do you get lily pads, mossy and cracked stone bricks, mycelium, lapis, etc?

The classes responsible for terrain generation are numerous and complicated, and the terrain generator has undergone some underlying changes since the days of alpha that will require a decent amount modification of the terrain generation classes from those versions to be compatible with the engine as it is now.

I had underestimated the amount of time this project would take, and thus will not be completing it.

Someone with enough time could definitely achieve this, but I am going to recommend that it continues as a community effort between those who wish to see it completed. A large chunk of the work could be completed by non-programmers; it will require getting a copy of minecraft.jar for each version of the terrain generator you want, finding the corresponding version of MCP (Found Here), decompiling and deobsfuscating the jar, and then sending the relevant sources to the developer. It might sound complicated, but anyone with a computer can do it with zero programming knowledge.

I wish whoever takes this project up luck, and I'll stay subscribed to this thread to lend a hand when I get a chance if said developer gets stuck.
