Poll: The name of that mod should be different from Ships&Boats and Ph
We have agreed with Eagle_Orion, creator of PhysicsCraft, and Shereis, to join forces to make a mod featuring physics from PhysicsCraft and also the rendering and block interaction facilities of Ships&Boats.
Hey everyone, since I have nothing better to do with my life after work ends i'll start taking model requests for space ships if you want, give me the specs of what you want and shape and i'll have it ready within the day or a little later
I'm currently working on something newer, larger, more spacy.
So i you want something shoot me a PM and don't hesitate to ask for something big, also adding redstone makes it more of a challenge so think for doors etc
I've created a Minecraft file with just the basics: ModLoader, Forge, and this mod, along with MC Patcher.
I've built a shipyard out in the middle of the ocean, and a rather basic boat is contained within; deck is four blocks above sea level, completely filled in (no below deck). It fits perfectly within the shipyard so that all sides of the boat are two blocks away from the Shipyard blocks. There are no parts of my ship actually in the water; it's floating in the block space just above the water, as is my Shipyard. The Shipyard extends as far as the farthest out block of my boat. I also built the Shipyard before building my ship (not sure if that matters or not).
I've put down a seat at the back of the boat, facing fowards and out from the Shipyard, so I can pull directly out.
Anyway i'll get a video to show case it, the redstone is always the hardest bit to get working but when it does its awesome, on the first model I had to cut a few things out cause it kept criss crossing on the side doors
You can use redpower mod because it has bundled cables. So, it can go anywhere in specific type of devices that you want.. In addition, wires can hitch on ceiling/side walls as well..
(compatible to this mod and computercraft at the same time if you download only a core and wiring (the rest is unknown))

Might look into it, would make it easier I guess
Siren I have some GUI idea's for a control block for ships, i'll draw something up on paint tomorrow but i'm not an artist so its going to be bad...
Also an idea, air ships, using blaze powder for the pumps made me think a bit, if the air ship is blown up all the remaining intact blocks instantly catch on fire to simulate an airship burning to the ground and on impact the center explodes, OR if one of the pumps is hit depending on how many are effected and if they were on or not that section of the ship will catch on fire and must be put out, fire will degrade the ships hp until its at 0 and it will completely catch fire, and explode on impact with the ground

I throw down the Champaign bottle.
Game crash.
MC Patcher might be the problem. Other people have reporter problems with that. Use Optifine instead.

Thanks, I've been thinking about a GUI, so any suggestion is welcome.
So when you dock you're ships, they don't turn to one of the 90 degrees? :/
You could just keep track of the total yaw change, and then rotate(on the origin that the mod calculates for the entitie) it to the 90, 180, 270, or 0 degrees, right?
Make boats controllable by joysticks(Like, real joysticks :P) This would be supercool for things that fly. Also, If you can make a block that adds more movements like and pitch and roll. Because not all ships do that. But some do. That would be amazing.

A gyro block should be added, air ships would only be able to move almost 360 degrees with the gyro block in place, air ships only would have this ability since it wouldn't make sense for boats or subs to do it. However ships would bank when turning since they do that already.
Also banks would have to be limited in degree's so you don't flip over completely.
Also with joy sticks airships would be able to move side to side

Joystick and gyro sound good ideas. Could you please add the to the TODO list? Please make sure to submit two entries, one for each feature
This is truly an incredible mod, the amount of effort you've put into this is very apparent and it pays off in the number and quality of the features. The only thing I want to ask is if there is anything we can do to help you improve and develop your work?
Thanks for your feedback.
There are two main things I am now asking help for:
- Making ships of different sizes and shapes and export them to schematics format, so I can use them in future releases of the mod to make shipwrecks
- Testing Ships&Boats with other mods, so I can improve the Compatibility list: https://code.google.com/p/mc-mods/wiki/CompatibilityList (videos such as the one made by D3sTruCiv3N3rd are greatly appreciated)
As we discussed in previous posts, I would like to collect ship schematics to use them to generate shipwrecks in a future release of Ships&Boats. The idea is to collect as much different ships as possible, so that shipwrecks could be as variate as possible.
For all of you who would like to help, here is important information:
The idea is that each ship should have treasures and challenges proportionals to the treasure value, i.e., mob spawners, traps, etc.
To create the ships I recommend using the More Creative Mod, which has support for creating mob spawners and other stuff: http://www.minecraft...menu-lots-more/
Hello! This mod looks...fantastic! Like just what I'm looking for. I've heard it's going to become available for SMP, and...well I was kind of wondering if it would react well with the minigame Ship Battles that I've helped work on. What I'm getting at is that we have This System Set Up, and I would like to know if the final SMP product will be compatible with it.
I hope so!

If Joy stick compatibility is added I think it should be separate from the main download. So default you can use keys or add the other file in and be able to use keys and joy.
Also Ship HP needs some sort of improvement, cause a 2000 block ship can be taken out in 1 hit by a cannon almost or 1 hit by a rocket from Flans mod so there needs to be a bit more durability cause my drop ships for example, the small one is only 1,100 blocks and my big one is 1,700 blocks and if one rocket or cannon ball kills it in one hit then there's going to be a significant problem, this also goes for other people in ship battles, a person may spend time building a large ship only to have it taken out in 1 shot.
If a Controller block is added in I think it should show ship health at on one of the bars or dials.
Also with the control block I had another idea, air intakes and exhaust for subs could be on the ship anywhere but don't need pipes or anything, as long as the engines are inside the activated ship they will work same with the control block, as long as its a part of the activated ship it will be able to work without interference, the only thing that will need to be attached is the props to the drive shaft which is connceted to the engines.

Try using Oracle's JVM instead of openjdk

play it, all will go well, i have that "problem" too, but it seems did not make crashes
Do you have Single Player Commands installed? Ships and Boats is incompatible with SPC. I ran into that problem before as well.

The pump idea sounds good. Could you please add it to the TODO: http://code.google.com/p/mc-mods/issues/entry
I think i can support a really small server XD 2 or 3 XD
I will send you a PM with hamachi info ok?
That's already in my TODO list

After you create the ship, you have to convert it to the schematics file format
- What is the schematics format? See http://www.minecraft...tic_File_Format
- How to save ships in schematics format? Use MCEdit: http://www.minecraft...ow-open-source/
After creating a ship schematics file, please upload it using this link: http://www.dropitto.me/SirEntropy
Just send me a PM so I can give you the password to upload the files.
Thanks!
Is it possible to activate your cannons via redstone by some method?
I hope so!
