Shouldn't your big fans like me be your motivation?
If you are no longer going to update your mod, why not allow for another modder to take the wheel.
I came across this mod as of 1.0 and wish I had the chance to try it.

Let's not jump to conclusions here. I didn't say I wouldn't update it. I said there was a chance that I may upload my source after the next, or the next few, updates, because I've lost the time to really maintain it properly.
Patience. Updating a mod doesn't happen overnight, so I don't actually KNOW when the update is coming, I don't know how long it will take me.
Sorry about the lack of free time you have. It's a shame there's no thanksgiving over there, as that could've given you some free time. Speaking of which, do you know if you will have much free time during the holidays? If you only have a bit, take the time to relax, but I would love it if you could implement the amazing ideas that have been flying around this thread for a while if you have a reasonable amount of free time! I still love this mod, so I'm willing to wait as long as it takes. Thanks :biggrin.gif:.
Like I said to Alblaka with updating his mod, take your time. You're not the community's slave even though it may seem like that at times. :wink.gif: I would rather have a stable 1.0 release than a rushed one and I'm sure you have a life outside of Steamcraft.
I'm likely to have the time to update the mod and make one or two changes to it, but not much more than that.
Even just an update is great! That means that I can play with all the new 1.0.0 features and your mod! Which means I also get to use animated enchanting table from Glimmar! Thanks for the information :smile.gif:.
Hey Proloe, you can try updating it using this quick and easy process:
1. Decompile the mod with MCP 4.3
2. Copy it to the source code in MCP 5.0
3. Update the constructor inside mod_steamcraft.zip
4. Update the base class files: aeb.class, ef.class
5. Recompile, fix any errors.
6. Done!
We were speaking about a week ago and that got me thinking about other ways that you can use Forge's item dictionary, Proloe. These are 2 items of which I can think of that could have the same IDs as 2 in IndustrialCraft 2 without disrupting anything, and making sense. I've looked and I don't think they can be abused if you actually apply these changes. Purified Copper having the same ID as Copper Dust and both Uranium items from the different mods.
Also, Obsidian isn't very hard, at least, in real life. Notch got the strength of it wrong; it shouldn't be as hard to mine or destroy as it is. On the Mohs scale, Obsidian ranks ~5.5, whereas Diamond is a solid 10. Diamond is ~27x harder than it. This makes me think that the Obsidian tools shouldn't be as valuable as they are. But this is just the way it is IRL and not in Minecraft, so blah. :tongue.gif: [Link]
I will post here with any other suggestions/ideas. (I love SteamCraft!!!)

Well, I COULD do that if I wanted Steamcraft to be incompatible with Minecraft itself.
In v0.5.4, Steamcraft uses all but 19 of Minecraft's available terrain graphics. Since 1.8, more than 19 new graphics have been added. This means that Steamcraft will cause it to run out, and cause a crash invariably. That is how I've updated in the past, but that's no longer possible.

Of course, I would use the item dictionary as much as I could to smooth out the game.
I know that Obsidian in Minecraft is totally wrong. If you notice, I did actually make it easier to mine, taking only a few seconds rather than the usual 15 with a Diamond Pickaxe. One thing that Obsidian is, though, is sharp. This is why the Obsidian Tools don't have ridiculous durability, but do allow a decent mining pace (though not as fast as Diamond). For balance and because of the "sharpness", I also decided to allow only them to mine Etherium.
Of course, since this is a game, I'm allowed a certain amount of artistic license. :tongue.gif:

Minecraft Forge says hi!
Which also might allow you to not modify any base class at all!(I think)

Seriously, I've been saying for the past 30 pages or something that I'm going to be using Forge, and I've also stated that it will be in the next update.

Yeah, I saw a post mentioning it a few seconds after I have posted mine!

Oh, I understand. I didn't know that you reduced the breaking time. And because it's easy(ish) to get, it's not that powerful. It still seems a little off for only Obsidian tools to be able to mine Etherium. How about Diamond can, but it takes twice as long? Just a thought.
Obsidian kinda reminds me of flint in that it's really sharp, it's kinda fun....... *idea* OBSIDIAN ARROWS!
EDIT: This is my 42nd post! You must obey me, Proloe. @_@
The reason I didn't make Diamond able to mine Etherium was twofold.
Firstly, it gives Obsidian Tools a purpose, since they are weaker than Diamond anyway, and with the Spanner available, it's possible to repair a damaged Diamond tool. Secondly, it adds just a slight extra bit of challenge. If you somehow came across Diamond without Lava, you then have to find lava in order to make Obsidian for the pickaxe to mine any Etherium. It just makes it that little bit more expensive.

One thing that I was worried about is, while mining, if you didn't have an Obsidian Pickaxe and you found a bunch of Etherium, you couldn't get it. So you'd have to leave it behind which means that you might forget about it, missing out on a good material. However Lava is pretty easy to find, especially in the Nether, so it's not so bad.
I'm having a few problems with my computer system at the moment. My hard drive managed to break down. I got it working again, but it seems to have deleted some system files while running a disc check, meaning I can't boot my main computer any more. I can still work on my laptop, but it makes the process far more inconvenient. It also doesn't help that I'm swamped with university work, despite being on holiday, and my family is currently having a really hard time trying to move house. It's not the best scenario, I have to say :/

Aha! But would that be in the yogbox or the technic pack, as it's mechanical‽

Ok, sorry, I know I have been an @$$hole!XD
I have one request!
Could you add the recipes in the Wiki?
Or do you have them already?
I couldn't find them!
They also come with the download, along with some information on the items.
