When you're making a mod like this that adds something that should be impossible with this engine, people find it hard to believe. You're just adding to that by stating that you've gotten alot done and saying how much you're working on it,but as far as I have read through this thread, you haven't posted a SINGLE PICTURE OF IT.You really,REALLY should.
Also,I think this would look pretty damn cool.

Yo dawg I heard you like playing Portal so now you can play Portal while playing Minecraft while going to Hell.
We're having major problems here. No one's showing up or communicating. Legendman3 says he's leaving, and if this keeps up, it's going to be just me, Pazaz and Mungoman.
PLEASE GUYS, show up on the IRC every Saturday and get on whenever you can.

The iteration of these lines brings gold;

Am I missing something? I'm hearing all this talk of Ragdoll physics being some kind of amazing achievement that would revolutionize the game. I don't see why the addition of Ragdoll physics is a big deal. It would certainly be cool (I'd love to have it :smile.gif: ), but it sounds like more of a novelty than anything. So what, explosions will fling mobs bodies around.
Your issues with development probably lie within a few problems:
1. You and your team are not really coordinating, therefore nothing productive gets done.
2. You and your team have varying levels of math/physics knowledge, or none at all. Ragdoll physics sounds simple to implement in theory, but if you want the results to look smooth and polished, you're going to have to know Advanced Functions and Kinetic Physics. If you are in high school/never took Advanced Mathematics in High School, you're going to have a lot of trouble implementing this.
3. You're not qualified to be a director/supervisor/coordinator/etc. If you are a beginner to Java, you are not in the position to supervise the development of this. This is a common mistake indie mod teams make, the person who conceived of the idea claims the position of Director, so that they feel involved in the creation of their idea. Unfortunately, you're going to have to be on par with the rest of your team's programming skills (which are hopefully good) in order to be in a position to develop this.
To be blunt, if you're new to programming, this is probably too large a project for you to undertake. It's not that it's bad to set high goals for yourself, it's that if you raise your expectations of yourself to levels you can't achieve at this stage, you'll just end up tired and frustrated. It's much more rewarding to slowly work your way up.
Don't take this wrong, I'm not trying to be patronizing or mean, I'm just trying to explain the issues you're probably running into. This is a pretty big goal to set, and the results may not be worth the effort it will require you. I can't see ragdolls being a particularly revolutionary addition to Minecraft, they'd be cool, but not worth the amount of effort it will require a new programmer. It's incredibly difficult to teach yourself by simply starting a massive project.

I wouldn't mind helping out, though I'm more of a C++ programmer. I have done Java in the past, and the syntax between the two is similar, so I might be able to be of some help, at least in the grueling syntax checking parts :wink.gif:.

Feel free to PM me if you have any technical issues/questions, I'd be happy to help.

I know. You are right. It may be too huge of a project. Although I try to keep the team together, it may just be something we can't accomplish at the moment. If the mod fails, we've always got that twitter post that says Notch will add ragdolls in the future.
You can try to help if you want.

My Computer Crashed, Just got it working again. Lost ALL my work that I was doing :s
EDIT----
And Krunchy, They are right, We NEED to communicate together.
This sounds like an AMAZING idea. I'd LOVE to (try to) test it, and, I recently picked up Bandicam, which allows 10-minute vids without a purchase; I can tweak the settings to get a better quality, so I hope I'm of use! :biggrin.gif:
Check out SirCrashed on Youtube, he could help. He made a soccer ball in Minecraft:
Unfortunately, I do not have a Youtube account. Could you perhaps notify him of our ragdoll mod, or tell me his Minecraft Forums account name? He's probably busy with other projects, but his help would be immense.

mc_soccer source, a jBullet example. Check the jBullet source for a ragdoll example. No credit needed, just don't spam me on youtube anymore.
