Well do YOU know java coding for minecraft? Mods take time, SDK probably worked in his mod before making a thread about it, Yosi is a bit new, but with the proper support his idea can become a reality
-Miners Union
Pig troopers= basic units, can be crafted with any type of sword or a bow, will follow player around and automatically attack enemy mobs, can be told to hold position
Medic Sheep= a sheep that gives food out in for healing, can wield no higher than an iron sword
Attack Cow= will have a back mounted skeleton, works best as an anti air unit
Trained Creepers= a creeper sent out to destroy enemy walls and units, will die in explosion
War Troll= Will Grief enemy Walls, breaking them down and placing blocks in the way of enemy roads and infrastructure, has high hp, cannot damage enemy mobs
Human Hero- will be a human like Mob that function as as a pigtrooper, would be able to deal more damage, has more health, and can damage the enemy spawner table
Sargent- a unit that wields only a gold sword, will lead other idle pigtroppers with it, and would venture out to seek enemy mobs and structures
--The Nether Legion
ZombiePigmen Militaint= a reskinned pigmen works the same as miner union
Spider Calvary= same as attack cow reskinned again
Meatsnack= the medic unit of the nether
War Ghast= an airborne unit that fires fireballs at opponents, weak to attack cows/spiderjockeys
Lava Monster= a unit that is made of lava, ranged weapons only affect it, has low hp, will has an aura of lava around it would only be able to kill other mobs and set wood on fire: cannot break blocks
Shade= the sargent of the nether, weilds a bow or ranged weapon
-Universal
Farmer= would build a farm to make food
Townsman= would build wooden huts inside territory walls, cannot fight and builds roads for idle units to patrol on
Miner= builds a hut and will mine underneath the hut, places resources in chest inside hut
WallBuilder= will build a wall around the factions claimed territory, walls will be made of material placed inside a furnace like container (aka player places a wood block inside container new walls are made of wood, if a diamond block is placed, new walls are made of diamond blocks)
Leader- An Npc that cannot be made by the player, only spawns when the enemy faction is formed, would function as the player npc for opposing factions.

if i were to start a career in modmaking(which i never will), i wouldnt start on a complex mod right away. Id rather start on a mod that adds like new tools, or adding new blocks, or a new mob. But look. You already know a simple thing on java coding and mod making "Im gonna make a freaking mod that everyone will love."
Start on a small mod. Then keep rising to better and more complex mods, and return to this one once youre ready.
Looking at that war pig gave me a bona jk jk but Hope your able to make progress I myself am a beginner modder, so hopefully i will be able to make a sexy mod in the near future, I love your C4D work aswell

I see it as a strategy game, the hardest part of making it i think it going to be the AI players, but the main question is
is this turn based? or real time?
I think it would be easier (and more awesome) if its real time, you still have your player on the ground, sorta thing
of course with the magic of java, anything is possible
Your experience in AI coding is? AI is giving them there own brain, part of their brain is following orders! I think it would be fun to see them follow you into battle, of course the mod isn't mine, Yosi is in charge, so if he chooses to make it a top down rts, then so be it! Ill make my own mod

Your attacking squad must have a leader of sorts, otherwise they idle. The challenging part of this is yes, when your upgrading things of building walls, your open to attack from the enemy, like wise, when your attacking your open to attack aswell, same rules apply to your enemy.
I think a mod of potential like this shouldn't try to copy a genre, but evolve it. If we wanted an strategy game, lets go get starcraft? of Civ5? Minecraft is minecraft, lets not recreate, but evolve things. for me, boring is having to sit on a tower telling units where to go. Isn't it better to be down there with them? The possibility of SAVING your troops?
An idea I had was a radar system, that would give you a top down view, but doesn't intrude on the game
I'm pretty sure you're taking me all wrong here, as I am saying. Making them have to follow you to make them go to war is the boring thing, yeah following into war and fighting yourself is also funny.
But if having to make them follow you every single time to make them move is the deal, not only will it be a huge mess if you have a big army. But it will also result in massive lag if you go afk for a second, and the spawner is set to automatically spawn. How enemy would be able to move is also a mystery, since they would need a "lord" to make them move.
yep, true when getting bigger armies becomes a mess, so whos to say we don't make the sarge unit? (other mobs will follow it and it can patrol, follow, or will act on its own) and not to give out strategy, but with the patrol flags, y not put them down inside an enemy base to have re spawning units march forward consistently? If the mods built right, players can do different things and lead in different ways, and in all games, a player going afk for a minute being harmful is unavoidable
