Hello gent. Just curious if you would be willing to address this. It would be very appreciated.

Hey mate, I see you are quite adept at understanding mod interactions. Any chance of getting HigherClouds to work with FastRender? I wouldn't mind seeing them play well together.
Oh geez. To be honest, his mod is far more complex than mine. You'd be better off asking him to add mine into his (all I did was change 6 numbers, I believe). When you ask him, tell him that I raised the clouds to a level of 135F. He will probably know what to do from there.
You sir are a very prompt responder. Maybe it's just time for me to learn to merge me some Javas. I will, however, quote this in his thread and see what happens. Thank you very much. +1
Hello gent. Just curious if you would be willing to address this. It would be very appreciated.
The root problem is that there's not a good general mod manager done yet that does patching on runtime, which would automatically handle problems like this. I hope that changes soon.
I wish I could be another success story here, but it honestly dropped my fps by about 10...
From about 25 average to about 15 average, and more frequently dipping down into the <1 range. :X
This is with a vanilla install of Minecraft.
This is with v4? What graphics card do you have? I'm at a loss to how this could decrease performance. Are you sure you didn't have anything else running at the time?
I'm shocked as well.
The specs for the laptop I'm using for this:
RAM: 3GB
CPU: Intel Celeron 560 @ 2.13GHz 2.13GHz
Graphics Chip: Mobile Intel 965 Express
And yes, I was running Chrome and Pidgin while testing, so the framerate was marginally lower because of this, but I had it open the whole time - both Vanilla and with this mod. Same tabs were open, same everything, same background programs. Basically a controlled testing environment.
Unless I've made an error, it looks like this mod doesn't play nice with everyones hardware...
This isn't a major issue for me though, as I'll be getting my gaming computer set up in less than a week, once New Egg replaces the faulty PSU they gave me.
This mod did nothing for me. Neither good nor bad. Just nothing. I get about 30fps short/fast.
You aren't that likely to get a major improvement on short distance - that's because there aren't many visible blocks, so it's difficult to further decrease the amount of them that is rendered.
I also tried it on normal and far, however I didn't see any value in posting those numbers since the game is unplayable with or without the mod. I've tested them again for your benefit.
On far I get framerates of 6 or less, with and without the mod.
On normal, I get framerates in the teens when not moving and it drops to single digits when I move. Again, this is consistent with and without the mod.
I can't say anything good or bad about it. It didn't improve anything and it didn't degrade anything.

Is it possible that there was a tab open in Chrome that was using a decent amount of CPU? Maybe something with Flash in it?

It sounds like you're more limited by a poor graphics card than by a slow CPU / slow RAM.
I've been very upset that my netbook plays Minecraft at an ALMOST playable 9-20FPS - this should boost it to ~19-30FPS, and make it playable. Presuming it does this in my setup, thank you VERY much for this.

You are correct, sir. I'm just grasping at straws. I'm using a laptop, which I love, but it does not have a discrete graphics card (and no budget for a gaming pc).

This did almost nothing for my netbook, which is odd. The other mod you created to optimize chunk storage boosted it by ~5-6fps, though. Still not comfortably playable, but technically playable..
7-10 frames (approx) when playing on short render distance and fancy graphics on Vanilla.
15-20 frames (and it fluctuates down to 8 frames and up to 25 frames sometimes) while using this mod.
Screw betterlight. Although that mod is absolutely breathtaking sometimes, I don't need it.
Notch needs to implement THIS 'cause you are an optimization whiz and then some.

Every time that someone on the support forums doesn't say anything after I tell them a possible solution, I assume that they are having too much fun enjoying their fixed Minecraft to reply.

While that is a possibility, it would have been running the whole time. And I'm a minimalist when it comes to keeping tabs open, so I think the only ones I had open at the time were minecraftforum.net, and about 3 of them.
Since I really do want this to work for me, I'll close down everything and try again.

Ok, wow. I apparently screwed something up last time. It works great now! I can finally run with a solid framerate on something other than Tiny! :biggrin.gif:
Being able to look across the landscape and see new landforms is astounding, thank you.
Would i crash if i installed this over Betterlight. I dont want to have to reinstall all my mods by deleting bin folder to get it to work. Someone please respond quickly.

Im going to laugh when i see on the news that a criminal prone kid strangled his brother to death with a shoelace when he erased his minecraft save.
Then all those Mormon moms will freak again because its a game. This doesnt concern you...Walk away...
Followed instructions exactly, but wasn't prompted to replace files. Is this ok? MC runs fine, but I didn't notice a significant difference. Yes, using V4
Edit: My apologies, completely forgot I was running another program at the same time. So yes I received about a 10FPS increase. Original question still applies though lol

ANYWAYS Thank you, awesome work!
