I actually like all of this suggestion excepting the speed of the weapons. I already feel the bow is far too fast; some of the rates in here would make them even more machinegun-like than present. With the wide selection of ammo you've suggested and the high ROF, that seems a bit over the top for my liking.

Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that I'm the only person who plays Minecraft normally.
Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that there is no such thing as playing Minecraft normally.

The descriptions for the bow already have their ROF brought down to an actual number (though still less than a second) instead of just being able to shoot as fast as you click.

K, just did some testing; never actually held down the fire button on the bow before, I'm far too ammo-conscious. Holy crap. @_______. Apparently the current bow might as well be an MP5. I was basing my speed comments on my personal fire-style. In light of my new (to me) discovery I'm a bit more comfy with the proposed timings. :biggrin.gif:

I'm glad to hear you approve now! :smile.gif: I liked the idea of actual ROF instead of clicking, partially for realism (as I don't without a lot of hardcore training could you pull off so many arrows) and because of it making more sense, and less arrow spamming! :biggrin.gif:
What about glass? Glass hurts terribly when sharpened... (Just a thought)
Glass arrows might be decent to let them do .5 more damage than a normal arrow(2.5 vs 2) which would let you kill a mob in 4 hits instead of 5. but as the disadvantage, make it so that glass arrows can't be reclaimed after firing them, even if they miss the mob.

I like that! It would be neat and it makes sense since the glass would break in the mob once it hits, or the dirt for taht matter...
The durability of the bows would most likely have to be 256, 512, and 1024
That's the durability of the tools as of now correct?
Unless that changes anytime soon, you might want to stick with that Andrew... since it is already established...
might as well just implement the trip wire idea that I suggested (however I highly doubt I was the first to suggest)
this isnt the thread for it, but I said why not make a trip wire you can connect up to 10 blocks, and it literally trips enemies fowards (exception being spiders and ghasts) and they will fall flat on their face
mainly used to make enemies fall into pitfalls, etc

I'ma say this again.
You make a good point muncher. :smile.gif:

it has little effect while clicking, the delay would be very very small, but it is noticeable when holding down and spamming (so you would call it)
if it is too fast just let me know, I will alter them alittle
I just wonder how it would work :s
How about they scatter spikes with in 1 (or 2) block radius of the shot site?

(I'm writing those values down. >:3)
Ok, you win Andrew, it makes the use of bow and arrow equal, makes it more like an actual bow and arrow... sort of. :smile.gif:
Durability of tools is 65(stone) 129(iron) and 1025(diamond)
129, 257, and 513 would be acceptable numbers for the wood, leather, and iron bows to have respectively.

String from where it is shot to where it lands? Like a semi permanent perimeter fence of sorts?

HOWEVER, the rope idea is reasonable
