INTRODUCTION: im as my name states crowley3220 (my minecraft gamertag) i also go by zacharyjaiden74 on minecraft forums...Im currently working on a mod to bring depth to minecraft game play, I'm part way in to the mod development and want to gather some support of the community to help me decide whether it is something is should continue to develop and release or if I should go back to the drawing board for mod ideas.
THE MOD: Minecraft is one of my favourite PC games of all time, although it has many pros i believe its very shallow and too easy in its sense of game play, after 5 minutes of game play the wood and stone tool set becomes useless, there is no need for them, after an hour MAXIMUM if your a semi-decent player you may already have a diamond tool or even a toolSET and armour if your lucky... Im hoping to add more depth to the minecraft game with the addition of some familiar RPG style features. The way i see it, the mod will have two main key points to it... The levelling system and the classes system.
LEVELLING: The levelling system will be split up into Skills, some ideas of Skills ive thought of so far are, MINING, WOODCUTTING, SMITHING, COOKING, FARMING, FISHING, COMBAT, ARCHERY, ALCHEMY, EXCAVATION and BREEDING.
Mining - ill start off by introducing you to the new ores (6 in total are added to the game for now) the names are just place holders for the time being and i am open to suggestions for name changes.
In order of strength and rarity: ORES - the additions of these ores have significance that will be explained later on[spoiler]
Luepazol [spoiler]
This ore Reddy purple in colour is found in veins up to 6 in size, level 40 and below, its believed after years of minecrafts generation a mutation of the Iron ore was born, fused with the redstone ores deep below minecrafts crust, we now see the newly formed ore Luepazol freely and commonly generating. Luepazol is twice as durable as iron giving it a grand total of 500 uses on every tool made by the metals produced by the ore. along with its increased durability, it also gains a slight increase in damage when used as a weapon and an small additional mining speed increase. it has a harvest level similar to iron [/spoiler]
Castrealm [spoiler]
This ore a light purple colour is found in veins up to 6 in size, level 40 and below slightly more commonly than Luepazol per chunk ALTHOUGH due to the origin of this which is unknown at this time, the ore appears to only spawn in plains biomes. Castrealm is the bridge between the iron toolset and diamond toolset with a durability rating of 800 uses on every tool made via the metal produced by this ore, it also bridges the gap between iron and diamond equally in both speed and damage output making it the perfect substitute for the iron toolset when diamonds appear scarce! it has a harvest level similar to iron.[/spoiler]
Sertonite [spoiler]
This ore a white colour is ONLY found in the icey biome of the icePlains level 40 and below, it can be found in clumps of up to 8. it is believed to be the product of carbon and an unknown element fusing and forming under immense heat and pressure deep in the minecrafts crust over BILLIONS of years similar to diamonds, though harder than diamonds is seems to be significantly more brittle resulting in a durability of 600 uses. the speed of this ore bridges the gap between gold and diamond making it a possibly upgrade of gold and a valid substitute for diamond given its harvest level that of diamond. the damage output of this ore is higher than castrealm but lower than diamond[/spoiler]
DarkCastrealm [spoiler]
This ore as the name suggests is a form of a previously mentioned ore castrealm, darker in appearance this ore was formed millions of years prior to castrealm making it a denser and more powerful ore. this ore is found at level 16 and below in clumps up to 8 in size. Dark Castrealm brings mining to a new level with a harvest level of 4 (one higher than diamond) with the new found strength of this tool brings more powerful weaponry and better looking blocks to the game, you will gain the ability to mine new forms of stone, new types of trees and other things key to making new machines and better looking structures the duribility ration of this metal exceeds that of diamond bringing it to a total of 1800 uses, its damage and speed rate in at double that of iron [/spoiler]
Neonandrite [spoiler]
Found only in desert biomes 16 and below this ore has a maximum spawn size of 5 and below. This ore a reddy brown in colour is believed to be formed deep beneath the surface of a planet in another galaxy, it was sent to earth in a meteor shower years after the planet was destroyed when its sun exploded. its believed to hold special properties, this ore is harder than diamonds and requires a special pickaxe to acquire it, you must use Dark castrealm to harvest otherwise youll waste the chances to capture this rare ore this ore has lower durability than diamond at 1200 uses, and has the mining speed that of gold but holds the unique trait of being the only pickaxe known to minecraft land of harvesting the rare and unknown ore that fell to earth in the meteor shower that wiped out the dinosaurs..[/spoiler]
Geomagnolite [spoiler]
This ore, rarest of all of minecraft was said to be part of the meteor shower that wiped out the dinosaurs, it is thought to be part of a radioactive ore created when a dying star wiped out a solid metal planet. this ore glows a green colour in the dark, it is harder than any known metal or substance known to Steve, due to its immense density it can only be stacked in lots of 9. this ore is said to have special abilities unknown to man, be the first to find out what they are. stats on this ore are unknown as is the location of the ore itself, you are to be considered lucky to find even one ore of this. As your mining level increases so does you ability to wield a certain level of axe.
I have introduced 7 new types of pickaxes to the game, as you progress through the levels you unlock the ability to craft and use higher levels of pick, the levelling system is as follows

Level 1 - The level you start on, you are by default able to craft the generic wooden pick axe
Level 2 - you dont gain any benefits from this level apart from some information for the next level
Level 3 - This is the level you gain the ability to craft the stone pickaxe.
Level 4 - you gain nothing from this level.
Level 5 - you learn information on your next level where to find ores and some info on them.
Level 6 - you unlock The SmoothStone pickaxe, as i think its strange to craft a tool from a pile of rocks ive made a new tool set for SmoothStone crafted as normal but with smooth stone it has 70 more uses than stone pickaxe
Level 7 - you gain nothing from this level
Level 8 - You learn info on the next level
Level 9 - you unlock the iron pickaxe
Level 10 - you gain nothing
Level 11 - you learn information on the next level
Level 12 - you are now able to craft the Luepazol pickaxe
Level 13 - you gain nothing
Level 14 you gain information on the next level
level 15 - you gain the ability to craft a castrealm pick axe
Level 16 - you gain nothing
Level 17 - you gain information on the next level

What happens when you obtain or try to craft a pickaxe prior to the required level?
the second it enters your inventory (provided you ARENT in creative mode) it gets destroyed and the appropriate materials get deposited into you inventory, if you are willing to try and go against my warning and do so without sufficient space in your inventory for the materials to be places they will NOT be refunded. you have been warned!

SMITHING - your smithing level will determine what armours you can forge and how much you can improve your tools, weapons and armour on the grindstone and BashPlate.
WOODCUTTING - As your wood cutting grows, so does your ability to craft axes, The same levelling of pickaxes applies to axes swords, hoes and shovels. see above for details.
COOKING - As you level your cooking up your ability to craft new food items opens up too, i am yet to implement this yet so details are COMING SOON!!!
FARMING - As your farming levels up as with mining and woodchopping your ability to craft the relevant items increases as well, but with the addition of new tools comes the addtions of new crops, as you level you will bit by bit gain new seeds for more crops and plants making it essential for you to level your farming for any major progression in the cooking skill - More elaboration will occur when More items are added
FISHING - with progression you will be able to craft better rods, use better lures and catch more fish, i look to try and expand as much as i can on fishing adding a wide variety of sea creatures to catch
COMBAT - like mining and woodcutting alike your ability to craft weapons will increase as you gain levels, although a much larger variety of weaponry will be added, such as maces swords daggers, throwables, etc with the added abilities of skills elaborated more in the classes section
ARCHERY - archery will be greatly expanded on with the addition of new bow tiers, new arrows and new abilities with bows - more info COMING SOON!
ALCHEMY - COMING SOON
EXCAVATION -similar to mining and woodcutting alike Excavation will allow you the ability to have newer and better tool sets and allow you to harvest much greater types of minerals minable by spade!
BREEDING - new mobs will be added to the game among which will be breedable mobs, for which can be harvested for food, ingredients or pure cuteness, as you level your breeding up so will the ability to breed better variations and types of mobs.!!!
MASTER LEVEL - ALL of the above levels contribute to whats called your master level... this level determines the difficulty of your enemies, your farming and cooking DOES count towards it so dont go thinking you can just level your friendly skills alone otherwise you WILL get slaughtered,
Along with these added skill sets will be dungeons and structures filled with bosses and loot, some will require a certain master level to enter which will be printed on the dungeon although wont restrict you from entering prematurely as it will only be a recommendation, you may of been wondering WHY ALL THE NEW ORES AND WEAPONS FOR 4 OR SO MONSTERS????
this mod will add enemeys ranging in health from 10 to 1000! 5 times that of the ender dragon meaning you WILL have to level defensive and offensive traits in order to survive
BUT!! dont worry about spawning into a new world or opening this mod in a current world and expecting to see a mob with 1000 health straight up, thanks to the levelling system mobs will ALWAYS be Ratio'd to your Master level, therefore if your level one youre obviously only going to face vanilla mobs, and as you progressively gain levels your enemys will gain in difficulty WITH you making the game slowly increase in difficulty as you play stopping those days of minecraft being too easy for you.
the one exception to this are dungeons and other generated structures, they WILL have high level enemys within regardless of your Master level

Coffee machine [spoiler] this machine is pretty self explanatory it makes coffee, the coffee gives you a speed boost for a short period of time as a bit of a coffee high , this i made using coffee beans farmed from newly added crops.

i just need a bit of support on this if it is to go ahead as i see it to become a pretty large mod and it will take quite a bit of my time to create, its already 15,185 lines of code (inc spaces) so even if you were to make a large room for error and say 12 or 13k of it was code and the rest was formatting spaces its still a lot for the start of this mod and i estimate it to get into the 100,000s when complete or at least has most of the features i wish to add so tell me what you think guys before it starts to get serious

all of the models and textures are subject to change if they seem inadequate for the mod, im open to texture support for the mod and you WIILL be credited up the very top of the mod page if choose to do so when it gets released.
one credit i want to mention atm is TM199X over at misc items and blocks, he has helped me out personally with this mod giving help to problems ive come across or guiding me in the right direction with some of his source code so be sure to check him out if you havent already (http://www.minecraft...citemsandblock/)
so you have a bit of a brief overview of my mod in progress, give me some thumbs up or down to whether this mod should be a go ahead or not, feel free to put some ideas or criticism forward i welcome all, good and bad, some of it may be taken in to the mod where i see fit
i just need a bit of support on this if it is to go ahead as i see it to become a pretty large mod and it will take quite a bit of my time to create, its already 15,185 lines of code (inc spaces) so even if you were to make a large room for error and say 12 or 13k of it was code and the rest was formatting spaces its still a lot for the start of this mod and i estimate it to get into the 100,000s when complete or at least has most of the features i wish to add so tell me what you think guys before it starts to get serious
p.s this is my VERY FIRST mod ive only been coding as long as ive been writing this mod, which is a few weeks, so keep that in mind before you make any mean comments about my modding, all models and textures are my own, and ALLcode EXCEPT a small portion is my own, the code thats not my own is from the help of TM1990x again very awesome guy
