I can't code. I am a child that does nothing but play Minecraft. I've been searching the internet for a mod that adds better NPCS, and I have an idea of my own.
IDEA:
This mod would add several Mob-Themed NPCs that rarely spawn in various locations depending on the NPC. They give you several moderately hard quests and tasks to do for them (gathering resources, bounty hunting, unlocking advancements, etc.) and if you complete all of the tasks, they become a companion. Much like a wolf, they will attack hostile creatures on sight. They have different classes such as Tanks, Ranged, Damage, and Support, and able to be (for lack of a better term) "equipped" or "unequipped" by shift + right clicking them. They would have lore through dialogue and what they request. For example, a Villager Warrior who wants to protect the other villagers from the undead at night would have a lot of bounty tasks on zombies. A super-smart pig created by Illagers would have some bounty on Villagers and Carrot gathering tasks.
BALANCING TEAMS:
1.) You can only have 2 Companions equipped at a time.
2.) Some companions get a bit weaker when with other companions. For example, Villager companions are a bit weaker with Illager & Pillager companions. Animal companions get a bit weaker with both? I don't know balancing.
3.) You can open the companions inventory. However, you can only equip them with tools that correspond to their class and what they'd normally use (as well as food, totems of undying, and armor.)
4.) Leveling up your companions allow you to equip them with more powerful stuff. Level 1 Companions can only wear leather, and as their level increases, you can equip them with better things.
This is probably not an original idea. So if there already is a good companions mod, point me in the right direction.
