Minecraft Ore Distribution is Very Unrealistic. You cannot find diamonds next to iron in real life. You would have to find an unique area to mine iron or diamonds. This is why people moved to California to mine gold. But my idea would change it.
Features
-Ores would be found based on area instead of depth.
-Ore deposits might be more likely to spawn in specific biomes (For example, Coal deposits would be found more in mountains then anywhere else)
I would say this mod might be fitted more for Multiplayer because of how much effort it might take to find ores. This could encourage Players to colonize areas to get access to unique ores like tin or copper. it would also encourage trade with other nations to attain a resource a nation doesn't have in their territory.
I love this idea, and would be very pleased if it was implemented realistically, as in coal would not go in mountains, since the pressure there would turn it into diamonds or graphite, but would rather be placed in areas that were wet in the past like swamps or tropical forests as the many plants there would die, get buried and compressed becoming coal. In addition, ore veins shouldn't contain 1 type of ore. They should contain a mix of ores (like copper-gold deposits which irl contain small amounts of lead, zinc, and silver, but those aren't in minecraft), or each vein-type should have an ore which drops a random number of "raw ores" of the designated types for that kind. This would also mean that different ore veins could give different amounts of iron like hematite and magnetite, and would allow mojang to possibly add something like silver and have previously generated ores be able to drop it.
Artifexian made a YT video titled "Where Metals Are Found On Fantasy Worlds!" which explains where and why different minerals and materials would form.
Unfortunately I Cant Make Minecraft Elements Generate In Different Locations. But I Can Make A Copy Of Minecraft Ores And Make Them Generate To Specific Locations. I Can Also Add A Condition Function Which Will Work Like Real Life. (Basically, It Will Make A Condition For That Ore For Example If There Is Lava Beside Obsidian And Soul Sand Near It, There Will Be a 60% Chance Of Forming A Diamond Ore) Or You Can Also Give Me Your Suggestions About Conditions. If You Want Me To Make It, Then Reply Me. It Will Take Like 6-9 Days. Also Numbers Of Ores Like Iron Is Common In Real Life So There Will Be Big Veins Of Iron Ore.

Yeah well... I kinda see a lot of mods that allow to do that like this one.
But checking what you're talking about of Multiplayer bussiness and territories. Probably a custom world generator like biome tweaker mod or using some cool project like the playable earth representation
