TL;DR: I want to recreate this crumbling bridge from Zelda 2, SKIP TO 3:50)
Long version:
If this doesn't exist already, could someone make a mod where blocks will get "mined" when a player walks on them until they break. The mining doesn't stop when the player is off the block. Also, the block should return after some time.
Alternatively, have the blocks that get walked on, fall down after a few seconds. When they hit another solid block (or fall a certain distance) they vanish and eventually respawn at the original position.
I primarily want only square/regular blocks and slabs to be affected, not any other thing. If making a custom block would be easy for this, even better. Otherwise, affecting vanilla blocks and slabs is also okay. If possible to select mod blocks, even better!
The configurable options (in a .cfg file) should be:
List of blocks that are affected
Crumbling duration (or time until block falls, if they fall instead of crumble)
Time until block respawns (Alternatively: Distance player must move away before the block respawns)
This is the closest thing I'm aware of, but the blocks won't reappear: Fragile Glass & Thin Ice. It has a block called Weak Stone that falls like gravel on contact and boasts configs for making other blocks "fragile" too.
Sorry it's not quite what you need, but I felt compelled by dark and irresistible forces to respond to your post.

Check out my mods. Feedback is always appreciated!
The fragile glass mod doesn't work because things break the instant you meet the conditions (such as sprinting or landing) and thus a path made of that mod cannot be traversed.
Bump, I suppose. If computer programming wasn't so arcane I'd do it myself but alas I have the stupid.
I really want to create this mod for you but for some reason i've been having problems with my textures and stuff, i posted about it earlier and if it could be solved i would probably be able create this here is the link to my post

Try joining the minecraft discord and asking in there. I have zero coding knowledge.
