Hello everyone i am a developer and would like to get some ideas for Minecraft Mods. I'm open to any suggestions. I currently have this idea of making a heavily based magic RPG system. If anyone has any ideas for this topic and / or other ideas please feel free to share them with me.

As a fan of dark magic in general, Necromancy is one of my favorite
aspects of the dark arts. I would love nothing more then to command my
undead minion horde against my enemies, collect the remains and merge
them into my horde of abominations, or summon skeleton legions when I
need them. For Minecraft 1.12 and beyond however, there really isn't any
options for this aside from the 'Overlord mod and 'Electroblob's
Wizardry' which while a good option by themselves aren't good enough for
really role-playing as an unholy magic wielder.
There was a Necromancy mod by AtomicStryker but it hasn't been
touched since 1.7.10, I also saw someone talk about creating a Lich mod
with the focus being learning about Necromancy until you could make the
transformation into an undead Lich yourself.
For me, the perfect Necromancy mod would allow you to build your
minions out of pieces, equip them with weapons, armor and even magic of
your choosing, level them up as they battle for you and even upgrade
them as you continue your research into the dark arts. There would be
skill and tech trees, magic spells to aid you and your minions and an
assortment of monsters you could command.
What do you think? Too big for what you were thinking of?
I like this. Not to big, just what i'm looking for. I would love to build this with a custom world and some kind of story to back it.
I think it would be really cool to command some kind of minion horde of skeletons or some custom mob, maybe using some kind of custom items.
I guess my question for you would be, is this something that should focus primarily on necormancers and dark magic, or should that be maybe one "class" or "option" for the user to choose? Also you mentioned 1.12 and beyond, i'm currently writing mods for 1.15.2, if i was to start this plugin as a side project, which version would you recommend i start with?
As for the "role play" experience, i was thinking of adding quests players can do. I think it would be cool to progress through some kind of main quest as a necromancer and have the option to complete small side quests. I personally don't play many MMORPGs or RPG's in general so i lack some knowledge on this field, but whats your take on quests?

I have a simple idea I think would benefit a lot of people. It would be really simple to make.
I think that you should be able to put emojis on signs. HOWEVER, I don't think it should be usual emojis. I think you could use 2d images of blocks and make them into custom emojis to put on signs. For example, if you were making a shop, instead of putting 'Grass - 1 diamond per stack' you could put ' - 64 = 1
If you were to make this mod, I would definitely install this on my server!
Sorry to get back to you so late. I think 1.15 would be the better version as 1.12 is coming to an end forge-support wise. As for the mod I was thinking of focusing strongly on Necromancy as the main point. Besides that I can't say more besides what you've already thought of adding. All I can really say is that as long as there's a good portion of the mod dedicated to playing as a necromancer I'll be happy. Sorry for being so vague but I'm not good at details, just basic ideas.
Sorry for the late reply, things are a little crazy on my end with all this stuff going on - I hope you're staying safe. I'm still very much so considering this as a project. I've finally had some free time again and would love to start on this. I'll keep you updated.
