I think someone should make a client side mod that shows the mob spawning sphere and light levels showing if mobs can spawn or cannot. It should be able to be used in survival or creative. I ask for this because I want to be able to build farms and light up caves without over lighting or under lighting in SMP without asking the server owner to install a datapack (Refer to logicalgeekboys datapack for what I want).
It doesn’t need to be overly complex. Just make it simple enough to use and be able to be easily toggled on and off, maybe making use of f4 or one of those keys. This is all just a suggestion since I really want something like this but don’t have the means to create. If interested, please spread the idea around and contact me if there is any mod that already exists with same functionality.
Sorry for not clarifying in the title if it was a request or a finished product. This is my first time posting on this forum and I will be sure to fix my titles in the future.
I think this should be fairly easy to do as all I want is something like this:
Except instead of using commands to display the armor stands sphere radius, I want to be able to toggle the display of sphere on and off in the game menu where I can enter coordinates of where I’m standing to be the center point. Then, I want to be able to keybind a key that allows me toggle visibility of the sphere. Also, the block does not need to be an armor stand, but can be any block as long as it is able to be seen through other blocks (Spectral?).
In the menu, you will also be able to turn on a mob spawning indicator which shows whether a block can or cannot spawn a mob. There should be an indicator such as grid lines of one color that displays whether or mobs can spawn. This should be very easy to make as all you need to do is detect if the light level is 7 or below which can spawn mobs and if the light level is 8 and above which cannot spawn hostile mobs (except blazes of course). There should be a different indication (different grid pattern on the block face that is visible to the player) of maybe a different color which only appears in nether fortresses of spawning which is combined with the standard grid pattern for every other hostile mob.
I only care about light level because it should be fairly obvious to see if there is enough space for a mob to spawn. If someone does not know, they can just search it up.
For artistic inspiration, you can press f3+g and look at the lines on the chunk border. I want a similar version of those lines in a grid like pattern to be on the visible faces of the block.
lastly, you can add whatever else you want that would be helpful for farms. You can look at gnembon’s carpet mod for inspiration, as I like his use of carpets to detect the chances of mob spawning.
Of course, all of this has to be able to be implemented in survival AND creative and it has to be client side so it can be run on servers without any hassle.
If anyone is interested, please comment in support
