I find myself using logs for building all the time, and I was making a chest storage warehouse earlier today and was using logs on the side, like this:
I was wondering how hard it could be to make log slabs for building. If anyone could make it or help by telling me how to make it, that would be very, very nice. Thank you in advance!
I am a beginner in mod developing. But since no one else replied, I guess I will try, it does not look that hard. By the way, what version do you want it in?

I'd like it to work in 1.9, and thank you for doing it! You can also release it if you want.
That sounds nice Thenewpotato! I can live with that, or you can make one when Forge updates. Anything is good. Also if you could maybe make a log stair as well? I don't want to sound needy, though, so only if you want to.
I am very sorry for my slowness on the development, like I have stated, I am a very very begginer. Though I have been working on it a few days so you can expect the very first, basic build of this mod on forge 1.8.9 soon. Again, thank you for your patience!
HERE WE GO! Finally I have it working! Here is the first build of this mod on 1.8.9 (version 0.1.0). I have it working on both half and double slabs. However, I only have the oak log texture right now. I will work on to add all log textures in. Please reply if it doesn't work or has a bug. Thank you!
It is on mega right now because I don't want it published yet:
I believe forge 1.9 is out! So I will start to work on the completion of the mod for 1.8.9 and also the first build of the mod for 1.9! I think it will take me a while, so please be patient and I will greatly appreciate it!
Can also be done with microblocks or as mentioned carpenter blocks, those will likely be along shortly as forge just posted builds for 1.9 which seems to be the version a lot of modders were holding out for.

Kudo's on your modding work, nice to see new modders jumping on projects like this
You're right, they will probably release the forge 1.9 version of their mod real soon too. I've just completed the first build of my mod on 1.9 (I had to mess around and test the errors 1.9 caused myself since there's no tutorials out there right now). Anyways ,thank you for providing me references to other great mods on this topic.I have referenced my code based on some other opensource mods, if you are interested, please look over my work and give me suggestions. Thank you!

You can achieve a log slab with carpenter's blocks if you're willing to stick with 1.7.10
I'm running a 1.9 server for it, and 1.7 is too old for me.

Minecraft Forge 1.9 is not yet released. Do you want to wait until the forge release or do you want it to be a vanilla mod or use something else?
Looking at Carpenter's blocks right now, and am !00% positive that there are no Carpenter's slabs showing up in NEI.
WARNING:
My output of snark depends on your output of stupidity.
My patience wears thin on strawmen and lies.
Since no one has it currently, how about I just make one for 1.8.9 right now and when 1.9 forge releases I'll update it to 1.9

It's not a slab. It's called a collapsible block.

The crafting recipe is the same with every other slabs in the game, use 3 oak logs in a row.
Awesome! I'll try it out soon^TM, let me go to my forge install later.

Slabcraft 3.0, currently for 1.8.9 (updates for new versions come fast enough usually) http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1282852-flowercraft-staircraft-slabcraft-wallcraft

Thanks! Let me go install it and mess around with it!
EDIT: I tried it out, works nicely but they cannot be on the second level of a block. But that's OK! It still works great!
