So, does anybody remember back in the 1.9pre builds, where Jens was first messing around with potions? Originally, the cauldron was added for the purpose of brewing said potions. You'd add water, throw a couple ingredients in, and you'd get a random potion with both good and bad effects. The thing is, you always got the same potion if you kept making a single recipe. You also might get a potion you didn't have the ingredients for nowadays, like how you could add blaze powder and some sugar and get a potion of water breathing with nausea for the first 10 seconds.
You needed a mod to enable this, and it was eventually changed, apparently for being not user-friendly enough, but now we have books which are perfect for recording recipes. I'd like a mod that adds that functionality back in, while leaving the current brewing system intact in case people want more stable potions.
Cauldron-brewed potions should also have slightly longer positive effects, to balance the chance of negative effects.

I'm a pixel artist who makes pixel things and maps! I also do line art occasionally.
I have two work in progress resource packs!
This is the second one!
And of course, by "work-in-progress" I mean "will never, ever be completed".
