Since you guys have been giving so much support me and the team were thinking about doing something special for release day maybe putting out a special addon for everyone who grabs it on the first day or maybe for testers once we need them. On another note any ideas you guys have put em here and we'll consider them
First off, I love this idea. If I had any knowledge beyond basic in coding I would offer my help if needed (which so far it doesn't look like you need much more help). May I, however, make a few suggestions?
1) It says "Boss Health" which means that is an ender dragon still, just with a new skin and in the "overworld". I strongly suggest getting rid of the boss health thing, because quite frankly, even if it's your own code and completely separate from the ender dragon many people will immediately jump to the conclusion that it is just a ripoff and not your own.
2) If you have some code done move to the mod section and put (WIP) instead of the compatible mc version. Make it clear there is no DL yet, but start the official thread.
3) Don't think about MP right now. All that will do is get your minds rolling with new ideas for multiplayer stuff which is the last thing you need right now. You guys need to get your current ideas done, and a stable release of SP out. Then worry about MP. It's hard to take this seriously when you are talking about MP before you have half of the coding done.
4) and finally, a special addon given out on release day has 2 problems; people can share/repost it later, and you shouldn't have addons as soon as something is released. It doesn't make sense.
On a lighter note, I really like where this is going. I know some people who will do a mod spotlight on this if it keeps down the right track. They are well known for their spotlights, and they'd be more than happy to do one for you. With a little convincing they may even do one pre-release to get the hype going before you launch (in past experience it really helps get things going on the right foot). Although, you would have to hammer out some of the bigger bugs first, otherwise they will get annoyed.
If they like it, they will also undoubtedly add your mod (once released) to their adventure map they have been working on for nearly 2 months now. It is a very large open world map with many quests, mobs, adventures, and excitement. It features many great and well respected mods, all of which will be named and the creators credited (as well as links to the mods provided). What I am saying is, it's going to be popular without a doubt. Your mod would take a seat amongst the "Greats". They have a good-sized fan base (not yogscast but not small either) who have all been waiting patiently. When it is released they will be downloading it instantly and spreading the word. Your mod would gain a lot of publicity from this, especially with a pre-mod relase and pre-map release spotlight. and so you know, I am not naming them for anonymity.
If you want them to check it out ahead of time pm me and ill see what i can do,
Good luck with your mod, and a diamond for you all.

Since I was the programmer of this snapshot I feel the need to explain (hopefully I don't give anything away).
1) I programmed this in a half a day so right now thats what it is. However I am reprogramming its behaviors and animations (because of what we have planned ). I will attempt to get rid of the BossHealth because these aren't bosses really. Idk I'll talk to the dev group.
2) Some code done but it doesn't actually do anything yet. We hardly have a plan right now however its ready for WIP I do believe or at least will be very soon.
3) Like hanse00 said it does need to be ready for Lan but still true SMP is an entirely other beast it won't be ready for that until one of the programmers can set their focus on it.
4) I can't say much about the addon but it wouln't actually add anything to the game maybe just make it easier for testing (Idk I'll talk to the dev team once again).
About the spotlights this mod isn't going to be ready for a while but talk to ReallyBigRocks about those.
Anyways thnx for the support and the diamond it means a lot. Gonna start programming this thing again today.
I disagree with one of your points, not thinking about SMP before SSP is done.
With 1.3 out, SSP is SMP, and any mod needs to be ready for SMP out of the box, even if only for using the LAN function.
So personally, I think multiplayer needs to be thought through from the beginning of development, and work.
It would really suck if you use the LAN feature, and for some reason your mod breaks.
LAN is different. I said MP as in Multiplayer, as in minecraft_server.jar. LAN still runs off Minecraft.jar. SMP is a lot more complicated and while ideas for multiplayer are good (gives you something to look forward/ aim to) thinking about "let's plays" should be left for later. I had a friend who did the same thing, and they got so into the ideas for the Let's Play they started focusing too much on multiplayer before the mod officially became a mod. SMP was released shortly after initial release and the mod was buggy and just not ironed out. I only said what I said because, like their mod, I don't want to see a great mod in the making fail.
Also, SSP is entirely different from SMP. The only similarity really (besides being the same game) is SSP can now be played via a LAN connection. SMP is internet-wide, and uses completely different systems such as a server.properties file, white/black lists, console logging. It is also run via a server, access via a server port, and occasionally Hamachi.

I agree with all of your statements, I simply worded everything differently. One thing though, a friendly suggesting... get a plan. even if it is something as simple as "we want our next "change-log" update to include _____ feature". It helps, and you can post it in your Coming Soon section so people know this isn't another mod without a purpose. Even something as simple as "We are going to get all dragons already added working with at least 1 difference from the others before we put out our first WIP DL".
the addon wouldn't be an addon more of a preorder type thing like the red flame helmet people who bought the legendary edition of halo reach got
Yes but that works because the game is paid for. And you get a code that you enter. You can't make people pay for your mod, so there really isn't any "legendary editions" and what-not. I like the early idea though, but all I meant was it needs more thought. An addon isn't what you want, that's all.
i wanna test the mini version thats out of the mod i loved dragon games my whole life i play games and watch movies about them, like how to train your dragon
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Click on the dragons (eggs) to help them grow (or hatch)! Or they will never live to grow...
If it works for singleplayer it'll work for LAN servers as the both use the minecraft.jar without the need to run a server SMP mods must be installed into the server and the client for them to work so once it comes out if you want to play this mod with your friends you'll both need to be on the same network
Click on the dragons (eggs) to help them grow (or hatch)! Or they will never live to grow...
Flying Blue Cats... It's GORGEOUS!
Is that a mini version for the mod? That Looks So Cool btw dun u need a boss for each dragon? like fire dragon's boss is lava dragon
