I have a request for a simple mod that makes all gold items have durability/speed/effectiveness better than iron but less than diamond. No extra funky tricks or anything, just as simple as that. The only mods I could find in the mods section added tools that were overpowered or weren't updated at all. I have no experience making mods, so I really couldn't figure out how to do this after decompiling the jar with MCP. If somebody decides to pick this up, I would really appreciate it.

This is a pretty simple mod to make, just a quick question, do you want it easily compatible with other mods?
As compatible as it can be. The only other mods I really use that have items/blocks are Doggy Talents and AtmosMobs, but I don't think they would be an issue. Modloader and/or Forge would work, too.
Iron has 251 while diamond has 1562, if I'm correct. I'm thinking right in the middle (maybe 600-700) in terms of everything, just to bridge the gap between iron and diamond. The same for all gold tools, maybe armor, too. Durability, speed, enchantability, everything. Except I don't want it to be able to mine obsidian. It could use the same crafting items and recipes. Just an overall replacement of the current gold. All of the default textures are fine, too. I could add in texture pack support myself.
Thanks, Shadowhunter, but it seems what you made is gold tools that are better than diamond. The durability has improved but the speed is still as fast as regular gold, which is too fast. I would rather have gold that's 1 tier above iron but below diamond. Diamond still needs to be the end-game loot.
