Okay guys, i know that there is at least 20 topics on this, but we need more mobs, we already got the wolves from 1.4, so lets keep ideas flowing :smile.gif:
LAND MOBS
Penguins- YES penguins! we need some of these little guys! They are totally harmless and when killed they drop 1 or 2 feathers, and a fish. (WHY ARE YOU KILLING THE PENGUINS!?) They should spawn in the winter/arctic biomes that we always stumble upon, and spawn in groups of 3-4 because in the wild they stick together LIKE BROS! Also they just waddle around and when hit, slide away from danger on their stomachs. They have about 5 hearts of health.
Hamsters- Tame with 1-4 seeds and have 2 hearts of health untamed, 4 when tamed and have no attack, they are basically a little buddy. Make a cage for it to use by finding a crafting table and put these materials:
Panther- <Cameron16's idea> Has 7 hearts health and 3 hearts a hit. Drops leather when it dies and the leather you get is black, which is used to make black leather armor which is basically the same. Spawns in the forest/jungle
Deer-<Cameron16's idea> Doe's(without horns) are completely passive . Bucks(with horns) will attack if you get to close but retreat after attacking once, unless you hit them. Fawns are passive shy. They run away from you and go to the nearest Buck. Bucks will protect the fawns no matter what. You need 1-7 seeds to befriend a fawn . You can befriend it but it does nothing special once befriended. Takes 4 minecraft days to grow into a buck. There is a 50% that the buck would either stay with you or despawn/roam away.If it stays with you it will attack any mobs you attack. Like a wolf. When killed, drop one meat and 1 leather and bucks drop 1 bone. Bucks have 5 hearts health and does have 4, fawn has 3.
Bigfoot- 10 hearts health and does 4 damage. When you attack him, he hurls you the opposite direction and then runs away. About half a block taller than the default player. ONLY spawns in densely wooded areas under shade and there is only a 10% chance of him spawning per day. When killed drop 1 2 and 3 no wonder that guy keeps running... (He's hiding his stash)
Seals- They can really go on both land and sea, they are passive friendly mobs. Make holes in the ice so they can breathe. Feed them fish to befreind them. Once befriended they can be ridden. though not under water. also you can tame pups(You cannot ride them). The seals dont like it when your near its pups. (Maybe when ridden can attack sharks?) No breeding mechanics but theres a 5% chance that pups will spawn with a regular seal. And when tamed as a baby seal when they become older they would move faster and follow you onto land. This would not happen if you tamed just a regular seal.(Random amount of raw fish needed to befriend both seals and baby seals.)
(Cameron16's writing ^^)
Monkeys- The simple minded monkey... they spawn in forest/jungle biomes on top of trees and when killed, drop an apple and possibly a bone or 2. They are very fast however and rarely fight back. 3 hearts of health.
Silverback- A larger version of the monkey. They are friendly and have 8 hearts and does 3 hearts/hit and ALWAYS fights back. He also spawns with and sticks up for his acrobatic friends. So don't go punching monkeys! When killed, he drops 3 apples and a bone, or 2 pieces of meat.
Walrus- Cameron16's idea- Passive aggresive mob. Not tameable. Will avoid you if all possible usually huddle into groups. If attacked these things hit hard 2 hearts a hit! What do you expect from animals with tusks? And mustaches....gotta love mustaches. With 8 hearts of health spawns in the arctic or in large bodies of water.
Minotaur- The minotaur has 10 hearts of health and 4 hearts a hit. Spawn on mountains, caves and underground they are neutral until attacked and when killed drop leather, meat, and maybe (25%) a horn which can be used to make spears.
Bears- Bears just wander around aimlessly and will occasionally come by and kill a cow or sheep out of spite. 9 hearts, and does 3 hearts/hit. Peaceful until you pull out some or some he will charge you for it. You can also tick him off by hitting him. Spawns in forest + arctic.
Girrafe- Tame-able, spawns in the forest + desert and when tamed can climb up their necks (2-3 blocks high) and when it comes to damage, he has 7 hearts health and can hit you for 3 hearts of damage. When killed drops 3 bones and 1 leather.
Crabs- I heard on another post that notch didn't want these but... yeah they spawn in sand and are completely pointless but you can kill them to get a slice of ham. They usually waddle along beaches and will occasionally accompany you where you go and follow you around, but you can make them grow by feeding them seeds. The crab will then turn more powerful, and in turn follow you as a tamed wolf would.
Imp- A cute little creature that minds his own business. He spawns very high in mountains in any biome. They build a tiny hut and that hut will have some supplies in it, like a wooden sword or a stone pickaxe. Stealing from an imp will make this purple little devil go hey-wall on you! It will un-relentlessly beat you with his fists doing 4damage/hit this little tyke is strong! and he only has 1 heart of health. Giving him a shovel to play with will make him happy. And he will grow a customed towards you, not a follower, but he will sometimes put things like steel and diamonds and gold in your chests. When killed, they drop soul-sand.
Bull- A variant of the cow, except a bit stronger, with 6 hearts, and horns.
Ants- Actual mini-ants. they will make custom bricks that have ant hills on them. When dug up they turn into a "hill" in your inventory and you can use these for decoration. These ants are actually about the size of your heel in minecraft, and cannot be easily seen but they make the dirt have "variety".
Night-elves- As big as an imp, these guys have bows and hunt down skeletons at night. Non-hostile towards you until you attack it. It has 4 hearts and does as much damage as a skelly.
Panda- They eat reeds. LOTS of reeds. Reed farmers beware! These guys come to take away your plants! They are non-hostile no matter what and have 30 hearts! These guys are very slow and spawn in forests. They can be trained by going up to them and giving them a reed. A trained panda will have black where white used to be and white where black used to be, basically white-on-black. And when trained, an enemy that attacks you will be smothered by this giant beast. Only as big as a bear though, he instantly kills almost all enemies with 10 hearts/ hit.
Mouse- He will sometimes find your chests and eat your food! Put a mushroom in there so that he will go away from the smell.
Wanderer- An AI that asks you if he can settle near your base and everyday, and give you bits of food as taxes. Has 3 hearts and uses a bow on animals that wander too close to your settlement you can pick it up when you kill him. (limit 2 wanderers per base)
Camper- a camper who got lost in the woods one day... he is lonely have a chat with him and he might decide to come with you. They have 5 hearts, and can wear armor and use weapons. (Limit 2 friends/save file)
Elephant- 20 hearts does 5 hearts of damage and can run as fast as a zombie. Very slow attacking. He is usually non-hostile and wanders the desert aimlessly. When killed, drops 10 leather and 5 bones.
Villager- The ORIGINAL minecrafter of minecraftia, they have a village with walls and huts, and have a chief. You can befriend them by giving them flowers, 3 each and once you have befriended 5 then they will not be hostile towards you when you are on their grounds, and you'll have a chance to befriend the chief for 10 flowers.
There is no use in befriending them besides the fact that they will give you 2 free Campers (above) equipped with diamond swords and armor.
Mountain king- An ally to the imps, he is basically a god to them and is constantly visited by them. Attack him and near instant death from about 10 imps will surely happen. However, befriending him with gifts of gold will give you a free imp companion each time. (limit of imps is 15/save game)
Dwarves- (thank you Cameron16) Dwarves are also neutral and will mine and put everything they find into a few chests, and if you dare touch that chest, they will hack you down with everything they got. Give a dwarf 3
or 1 piece of to befriend one. Once 5 are befriended, the whole "colony" of dwarves will like you and you can come by and give a dwarf a silver pick axe and he will follow you home and you can give him an order to mine where you tell him to.
UNDERWATER
Sharks- NOT AS OVERPOWERED AS PEOPLE SAY THEY ARE. 5 hearts, and do 4hearts/hit and they attack very slowly. Moderately fast moving. Drop 3 pieces of meat when they die.
Turtle- Both land and water, the turtle has 10 hearts and is non hostile, and drops a piece of leather when killed. Rideable with a mount.
Eel- A small, but dangerous mob. 3 hearts, and 3 hearts/ hit and it hits as fast as a skeleton about. It will shock a 2x2 area around it to attack.
Puffer fish- Puffs up into a 1x1 square and rams into enemies. Only does this as defense and otherwise, is non-hostile. With 3 hearts.
School of fish- A 2 hit kill and they run away when attacked they move together as 1 mob but look like multiple mobs of fish (a fish is a bout 1/2 a block long and 1/6 of a block thick) When killed drop 3 fish.
RANDOM IDEAS
Command bar- A bar where you can tell your npc buddies to follow, mine (dwarf only), or attack.
*EDIT- You also use this to have conversations with said NPC's like the wanderer or camper. You can have totally random conversations too.
Give me more ideas!
Oh and if your referring to me, just say YAB its a little easier.
Tell me if you like the idea or if it needs improvements :smile.gif: But i need a modder thats moderately or very experienced because i sadly cannot figure out how to mod.
Well if you have elves you have to have dwarves! How about they have mines but go apes*** if you touch anything in thier mines. You can befriend them with 3 gold bars each for 5 ppl for befriending the whole town. Or 1 diamond befriends one person. Once befriended they may let you have dwarven miners help you in your own mines and give you the Ores :biggrin.gif:

Well I'm just an old fart here...like 500 years in internet time.
Just going to run through the options in a random order.
I'm not sure about the NPC's. This means the wanderers, villagers, mountain kings, and campers. Wanderers are wielding guns whilst they already states we wouldn't have them. Another problem about them is they won't know where your "camp" is or how many else are near your camp.
"Sharks are slow but have moderate speed underwater..."
Are you planning for them to roam above land?
I'm skeptical of penguins, silverbacks, and monkeys, though.
Bulls and bears sound fine.
Ants seem to serve no purpose besides turning dirt into a sponge. I don't see how that makes sense or how that would be of use to you. Ants would be further from shore and the "sponge dirt" cannot be carried by you because they turn into "normal dirt" after trying to harvest it.
Chowder, i meant that they attack slow, and for the wanderers i guess you could give them a bow. And the wanderers should come out once you first go to sleep (make a bed) and reset your spawn location. Thanks for pointing that out haha. What i also mean by ants, is that they would make "variety" in the dirt, i guess i'll change it to that they make anthills it seems more... realistic.
Cameron. YES, JUST YES. love dwarf idea :smile.gif: i'll put that in there.
Klitnov i guess you can suggest whatever you like. As long as it sounds cool i'll put it in :smile.gif:
Alright heres another mob idea. Seals. Passive friendly mobs. This would not happen if you tamed just a regular seal.(Random amount of raw fish needed to befriend both seals and baby seals.... maybe 1 -5 to tame)(Another thing that would be difficult would be teaching them tricks) theres my idea!
EDIT: Once you tame regular seals they allow you near there pups

Thanks bro :biggrin.gif: you should really help me with these ideas!!! haha, the ironic thing is that im watching a nature show for ideas XD
I'll look up how to make a sig. Thanks if i can, i'll put mine + ur name on the sig cuz i guess we can be "co managers" haha
*EDIT
ok so i got how to make a signature but its gonna take maybe a day.
Ya "co-manager" thing! thats awesome! Alright another idea. Walrus passive aggresive mob. Not tameable. Will avoid you if all possible usually huddle into groups. If attacked these things hit hard 2 hearts a hit! What do you expect from animals with tusks? And mustaches....gotta love mustaches.

I know how hard it would be program all of this. I am learning come C# and its close to java but still different. Certainly diffrent enough for me not to be able to program in it. Textures, Ai, and ,blocks oh my!

i just cant figure things out. haha well i got a pic up but its sort of wimpy and u cant click it
Giraffe - eats the top leaves of trees, and drops leather? or flowers? uhm, when attacked they charge the enemy and hits a total of 2 1/2 hearts and can be trained by giving flowers, when trained its colours become brighter and you can get on its head and use it like a portable ladder and ride it around but it moves slow.

lemme know what you think of ma idea..
Eating leaves yes and hitting i think should be 1 heart per hit....giraffes are pretty powerful but not that powerful. Yes to being tamed. and to climbing nech like ladder but unless thier super tall it would seem kinda poitless wheni can just put blocks or actual ladders down.

ACTUALLY, girrafes have one of the most powerful legs in the animal kingdom so i'mm put 3 hearts/ hit. everything else is good and it should have 7 hearts of health
