For some of those people who like to build in peaceful/easy - basically this allows fully automated production centers.
(none of this tl;dr stuff please) I.E: For example: reactions between items and actual environment sand (item form) - in range of fire/lava = glass, cobblestone (item form) in range of fire/lava = smoothstone, etc. So we could have invedited pig spawners that go into a lava retrieval machine, then the machine would have the remaining pork on a new item, a "Conveyor Belt" which moves things along the direction that you put it from, move slowly into a tunnel which has fire on the sides and when it comes out the other end, the pork could be cooked. Affector:
The Lava/Fire Range would be based mainly off the melting range of Fire/Lava/Torches vs. Snow/Ice, lava/fire will act as a furnace to any materials close to it.
The water would be based mainly off a 3x3 range and can extract semi-precious items from certain things. Affected:
ALL IN ITEM FORM EXCEPT FOR LAVA/FIRE AND WATER (EXCLUDING BUCKET OF WATER)
Bucket of Water + Lava/Fire = Obsidian (item form) + Empty Bucket (Allows fast obsidian production)
Smeltable Ore (Gold/Iron) + Lava/Fire = Ingots
Logs + Lava/Fire = Charcoal
SmoothStone + Lava/Fire = 25% chance of coal, 20% chance of iron, 15% chance of gold, 10% chance of redstone, 5% chance of diamond, 25% nothing.
Cobblestone + Lava/Fire = Smoothstone
Meat/Fish + Lava/Fire = Cooked Meat/Fish
Sand + Lava/Fire = Glass
Anything else (item form) + Lava/Fire = 50% chance of nothing, 50% chance of item return
Water + SmoothStone = 25% chance of coal, 20% chance of iron, 15% chance of gold, 10% chance of redstone, 5% chance of diamond, 25% nothing.
Water + CobbleStone = 50% chance of Gravel, 50% chance of nothing.
Water + Ore Blocks = 9 ingots of the metal.
Water + Coal/Diamond/Redstone = Materials extracted and 1 Cobblestone
These only work if the second item is in item form and not placed. Other Items
Pork Fat: Obtained from pigs. Can be used as a substitute for coal in torches. Also can be used as a fuel (burning speed = logs speed)
Acid: made by bucket of water, surrounded by Pork Fat. Acid will break the block underneath it and is colored yellow (List of blocks that cannot be destroyed by acid: Diamond Block, Iron Block, Gold Block.)
This way, we could set up an automated cobblestone factory like so:
With being acid.
Acid is slightly dangerous to the player (1 half-heart per 3 seconds).
Acid will destroy any items that pass through it (but any blocks that are under it will turn into items).
Acid CAN be controlled by redstone.
Another suggestion is the:
Item Filter - made by iron, surrounded with redstone.
Item Filters do not run on redstone. The Item Filter has a gui that allows players to select which item(s) can pass through it. Any other items will be redirected to a player-defined direction (like the Floodgate mod.)
This way we could have an ore factory to filter out ingots and the like using lava and/or water while the cobblestone is filtered out to the LEFT of the filter on a conveyor belt into lava.
Conveyor Belt:
Crafted like so:
with bacon being leather and redshrooms being redstone.
Conveyor Belts are not affected by lava/water/acid but can be affected with tnt or regular removal. They move items along in a player-defined direction (Once again, like the Floodgate mod.)
The player can also select two directions and it will look like this:
On - left
Off - right
When connected to a redstone current, the conveyor will activate "On", aka the conveyor will move things to the left and vice versa. Conveyors can also drag items up walls.
And yet another suggestion:
Grinders
will damage any mob that steps on it (if a redstone current is applied. If there is no current it will not inflict any damage.). The Grinder will also eject items out in a player-defined direction. The reason for the redstone current is so that if a slime is being dragged into a grinder you can turn it off.
Mob Filter - made by gold, surrounded with redstone.
Mob Filters act just like the Item Filter except they filter out only MOBS. This way you can escort slimes to their safety while their undead assailants are dragged into a grinder.
Block Pressure Plates - built by all wood/cobblestone in all 9 squares.
Block Pressure Plates will activate a redstone current when a block is formed/placed on top of them.
Auto-Planter:
Once stocked with one sapling/seed/reed/cactus, the Auto-Planter will automatically start growing a plant on top of it - once the plant is removed, the Auto-Planter will plant another one of the initial seeds. Alchemy
Using Floodgates, you can use a 5-clock with a redstone current that controls the flow of lava/acid/water. You can build an alchemy machine with 3 channels each containing a lava/acid/water spring block all going into one bin, with floodgates controlling the channels. With some intricate planning and a 5-clock you can connect all the floodgates to open and close. By the order of the liquids you can make an ore in the bin.
acid-water-lava = coal
water-acid-lava = iron
water-lava-acid = gold
acid-lava-water = diamond
lava-water-acid = obsidian
lava-acid-water = smoothstone
water-lava = obsidian
lava-water = cobblestone
Anything else = random material (you might get lucky, you might not.)
At the top of the room you have a floodgate that blocks an acid passage. The floodgate is controlled by a Block Pressure Plate at the bottom of the bin. Once the ore block is formed, the Pressure Plate activates, opening the floodgate at the top of the room, where acid will flow downwards and break the ore, thus giving you a material.
Optional: Add a sorter for the ores, with coal/redstone/diamond/obsidian going into one conveyor for immediate collection (stored in a chest with the chest mod) and the iron/gold going into another for smelting, THEN collection.
Optional #2: Add MORE sorters to make different chests for different materials.
Optional #3: Add an auto-planter with an acid current going downwards to collect wood.
Optional #4: Make specific alchemy machines for specific materials.
Optional #5: Add a mob-killing machine just for fun.
And then you can combine this with the chest mod and floodgates that collects stuff when touched and there you go. Your factory. It is the best Idea I have ever had.

It is a rather cool idea but the problem is that the mod would take forever to design & at the moment probably not possible. I am not much of a modder but I am working on my own mod. Again, if this where possible, It would still be full of bugs. Still a good idea.

It is possible, just very hard and complated to create. For instance, I doubt many people ever thought someone could make a plane mod... yet they did!
