The spiked mace would not do any additional melee damage, it would just look cool.
It would do the same damage as swords and deteriorate just as quickly, but if you right clicked you could throw it, about a quarter of the arrow's range. You could pick it up off the ground and throwing it would do double the damage to the durability that a normal attack would. Spiked maces would do one extra damage when thrown.
Perhaps, for the thrown nunchuck idea, if it hits a block, it transforms to the dropped item (if you get what i mean, i had trouble explaining that). That would be similar to thrown eggs spawning chickens, so you replace the eggs with the nunchuck, and the chicken with the dropped item.
by this, do you mean that if I throw a nunchuck at a creeper, the nunchuck would become 1-2 sulphurs?
also, in the first recipe, would the diamond be replaced by whatever item the tool will be(planks, cobble, iron, gold, diamond)?
and the third recipe, that looks like a good battle axe idea.
Regular Mace: Same damage as sword, but right-clicking will break a targeted block instantly if not bedrock (some circumstances apply). Slower attack time.

[] [] = Mace Head
[] []
Flail: Same damage as a sword. Slower attack time. Right-click to throw it; will slow down a target.

[] [>>-i>] [] [>>-i>] = String

Nunchucks: Same damage as a sword. Quicker attack time. Smaller durability.
[] []
[] [>>-i>] [] = Stick, Iron Ingot
[] []
And just for kicks and giggles.
Throwing/Skinning Knives: Left-clicking on an animal will give you max drop + 1 of the animal & kill the animal. Right-clicking will throw the knife, causing same damage and you will be able to pick it up again.
[] [] []
[] [] = Iron ingot
[] []
Mace (the pepper spray kind): Right-clicking within a short distance of an entity will blind it causing it to stop attacking and panic.
Here's another idea for maces: Since blunt damage is more likely to be more effective against skeletons, maybe you should make maces do normal damage to other mobs, but double damage to skeletons and spider jockeys?

Big props to greybacon for the Mewtwo skin used in this image!
the mace head can be made of any material that weapons can(i.e wood, stone, iron, diamond, gold) using the following recipe.
[] [>>-i>] []
[>>-i>] [>>-i>] [>>-i>]
[] [>>-i>] []
[>>-i>] =material
then, if you want a spiked mace:

[] [] []
= mace head
then, to make the mace:

= mace head/ spiked head.

also, if you do
]" title="-<->" />
=unspiked mace head
]" title="-<->" /> =string
that would make a thing where you throw it at an enemy and it wraps around their legs, slowing them down.
Perfect anti-Creeper weapon.

or this.
As in, if I chucked it at dirt, the nunckuck would drop? or the nunchuck AND a dirt block?
Let's talk about all the recipe's that should be added in the mod and then I'll update the main post and title. :biggrin.gif:

damage of a diamond sword on left click, and on right click
* dealt half of the leftclick damage

I once asked a friend on minecraft, "If the Nether is where the dead go, where do they go if they die in the Nether?" He replied "Canada."
edit: not as major as I thought.
