but wait, that's not woodland D:
Anyway, regular lizards? We have crocodiles and snakes, so why not...
crayfish? basically small brown lobsters that spawn in shallow water near grass?

Idk, obviously there are waters in woodlands but maybe I should make some topics of other biomes? Make a series to collect all ideas?

I much approve of this mod! I think Notch should add something to this affect, simply because it gives the game a little bit more complexity, but not to the point that a new player won't understand. (The more stuff you have in a game can mean the better, or it can be fatal to new players due to its complexity.) Keeping that in mind I think that a few changes could be made to this, although it is just an idea, but I much enjoy the mobs an more.
My favorites would probably be the insects such as ants & ant hills, bees & beehives (maybe honey for food?), flies and butterflies. I had an idea for flies, after an animal or npc is killed, the body doesn't instant disappear, instead a carcass is spawned and attracts carnivores, such as flies/falcons/ants/zombies/ect.
Oh and another neat thing to add would be npc relationships or behaviors, like for example. In a natural habitat, hawks would swoop down and eat snakes. Or ants would attack a grasshopper and eat it. This would be especially cool because it would add to the atmosphere of the animals, though it wouldn't do anything besides that...
Once again, loving the idea and hoping to see these in mod-form one day?
Ok, I will put the ideas on the OP. Maybe today or tomorrow (not much time on pc today). Good ideas folks :smile.gif: The witch would be fun, but I don't think fireballs and forest is a good combo.
Yah but maybe instead of fire, she attacks with electricity? just a thought....
i am definitely going to stay active with this post, keep up the great work!

Great idea for a mod, adding in new creatures is great for diversity, but please try not to flood the lands with a new and interesting creature, every square, i still remember the rock men,( from another mod) everywhere I looked and noisy let me tell you, that mod didn't stay on for long, so please take care and set up your spawn list with care, please also take into account the fact that your mod will be integrated with many other creature-mods, there needs to be a balance kept thru out the game when new creatures are added, I'm very much looking forwards to adding in your new creatures, I kind of agree with some posters about the individual insect models you have planned, slowing down and lagging the game, but adding in insects is still agreat idea, in Neverwinters nights the community came up with using insect swarms
Insect Swarm, a small dark buzzing cloud of black insects, floating just off of the ground or up to treetop hieght, if you go to close they attack, when they attack they pass straight thru the player doing damage, flying in and out attacking in a figure 8 flight pattern, would pretty much be the same for any type of aggressive insect swarm, they can also fly over water and would be considered to be un-common to find.
Passive types;
Fireflies - like to hang around trees, only come out at night.
Moths - like to hang around torches, only come out at night.
Annoying flies - these just follow you around...a lot. Only come out during the day and disappear at night.
Butterflies - sometimes will follow you, daytime only.
Aggressive types;
Bees - come from a hive, daytime only, don't get to close, likes flowers! - Uncommon 1 to 3 hearts damage per attack.
Sand flies - spawn on sand only, will fly anywhere, don't get close, will follow you, daytime only. -rare 1/2 a heart damage per attack.
Wasps - day and nighttime, will fly anywhere, don't get to close, always looking for a new place to make a nest, will follow you. Rare 2 to 4 hearts damage per attack.
Hornets - bigger and nastier than wasps, likes nesting in spiders bodies or hives, dangerous and very rare, 4 to 6 hearts damage per attack.
I hope that I haven’t put you off in anyway, I also hope that I have given you some things to think about while creating your mod, I hope you stick with it, keep up the good work. :smile.gif:

"Ya'know if you throw in a couple of creepers, you might have the crowds attention."
These are really great ideas :biggrin.gif: Maybe there could be koalas who hang out in trees? And in desert biomes there could be scorpions? There's so many different ideas that could be put into this. It definitely has my support and I hope Notch sees this and likes it too.

I like your idea but I don't think you understand. These are IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS that I gathered. I'm not a modder (yet)! I say that in the OP. This topic is mainly so modders can get interested in the ideas so they will make em. I agree with you that adding them all is to much, but I like the ideas that I get and the more ideas, the more chance of a modder accepting one.
This is a great idea, but the only thing I've seen that could be a problem is that the spike arrows should be weaker than regular, since they use less resources, unless getting a porcupine spike would be harder than most resources, and most of the models you made have no eyes. But those aren't huge problems. Overall, fantastic job, you should show this to Notch.
Added a lot of the posted ideas and some of my own to OP. I will add new topics on Desert/Savanna Biomes, Island/Beach Biomes and Alpine/Artic Biomes. Get ready to post your ideas there :3
Squirell:Lives in and near trees,is always docile to the player, but will attempt to kill hostile mobs.can be given a nut to tamed for a small time, can be given a golden nut to be constantly your pet. Will bring you nuts if its your pet.(Nuts are a food)
Beavers:They eat anything wooden and craft a base, could use lines of code from builders mod.the eat the sticks
on your tools, leaving you with a tool head, wich can be crafted into tools again,or thrown.
Forest Bandits: Bandits are aggresive, but smart, they have a camp and use iron tools(or their own) and their own specific armor, wich is between leather and iron.it is dropped on death. They use multiple weapons, including bows, swords and new specifics also dropped on death.
Imp: Imps are small, and can fit through 1 block tall areas, they are strong and use a ranged fireball attack.the are around 3 times faster than the player and jump 2.5 high instead of one, however they are neutral ,not agressive.
They drop Imp flesh, wich can be used to reinforce armour, making it stronger.
Lost Merchants:They drop rare items, like lapis luzuzuzz whatever its called and occaisonly diamond.they weild iron
swords and are neutral towards you.they have around 35 health though.
Elementals: Elementals are Neutral but VERY strong.they come in 4 variatons.Air,Fire,Water and Earth.they have various attacks depoending on what type they are.Water:Flood wich lasts long enough to deal 3.5 damage.Fire sets you on fire to deal around 2.5 damage,or let loose a lava flood, dealing 7 damage.Air:Suffacotes you to death.Earth:Creates and eathquake, wich makes you fall to your death.Water has 120 health, all others have 75.
Panthers:Panthers are fast and strong. They saty out of sight while they follow you,and if you turn your back, they pounce, knocking you onto the floor for 0.5 seconds and knoking out any weapons you have in your inventory, wich fly out like and arrow and stick in nearby blocks, waiting to be recollected.
ITEMS:
Reinforced Armour(All types):Have 50 more hits than regular armour
Imp Flesh:Used to make Reinforced Armours
Bandit Armour:Between Leather and Iron, can be reinforced with flint to maken studded Armour.
Long Sword:Deals 2 more damage than a regular sword, only found by killing bandits
Spears:Same as long sword, but deals 2 LESS damage, but has 1 block further reach
Battle axe:Deals 2.5 more damage than a sword, only found by killing bandits
Dagger:deals 1 less damage than a sword, only found by killing bandits.
Club:made using three stick going up,can be found by cilling bandits as well.
Silk:Silk is used to make darker red silk blocks,Merchants drop them 1-3 on death.
BLOCKS:
Mud:Acts like slow sand, but sticks to you for 5 miniutes after they are trampeled on,however it is not as potent as slow sand, and washes of in water,it can be mined, producing 4 mudballs, wich blind mobs when thrown at them, can be crafted back into a mud block, wich can be used as compact storage, traps,or combined with a bucket, and then smelted to get a mud bucket, wich is pured, producing a new liquid thats slown everyone down 75 percent.
Copper:can be combined with Iron to make a hybrid, used to make spikes for traps.

That's because they are not textured. If you READ, he says he is not a good texture artist.
