Okay so I have a modpack I created using MultiMC for 1.7.10 which has the recommended forge version installed (1558). The mod list is as follows if anyone is wondering:
Aether 2
Aquaculture
Atum: Journey Into the Sands
Better FPS
CandyCraft
CloneCraft
ComputerCraft
Copious Dogs
Elemental Creepers
Flans Mods
Flans Modern Warfare Pack
Flans WW2 Pack
Flans Ye Olde Pack
Gems+
Hats
Iron Chest
Ice Cream Creepers
Lumy Skin Patch
Malisis Doors
Metallurgy 3
Mo Golems
Mr Crayfish Furniture
Not Enough Items
Project Fruit
Project E
Psychedelicraft
Q-Craft
Rei's Mini Map
Sports Mod
Statues Mod
TrainCraft
Tube Transportation
Twilight Forest
Vending Machine
Web Displays
Plus the core/compatibility mods that help these ones to run. So it total 48 mods installed, and I am planning on adding more in future.
However I have been having issues with a mod (technically two), and that this Gilded Games Utilities, the mod that runs Aether 2. The latest official version (1.9) gives me lighting bugs (that I have mentioned on another thread) and the unofficial fix (2.0) which gets rid of the lighting bugs, takes a big toll on my FPS for some reason I am not sure why (then again my CPU is over 10 years old and have only 5GB allocated of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM). First of all, I doubt it is an issue to do with forge but I could be wrong, I have yet to test it out with the newer forge version. But I was told by the developer of the fixed version of Gilded Games Util to update my forge to 1614. However, I have read somewhere that updating my forge version can break certain mods, which has kinda put me off the idea.
Instead of doing this I have been planning on upgrading my PC parts as best as I can (Have DDR4 RAM instead of DDR3, and an Intel Core i9-9900 to replace my i5-2500k) in hopes that it would be able to run my modpack with the fixed version of Gilded Game Util better without having to update forge. But just in case if it is indeed a forge issue causing the slower FPS on one version of the mod, and lighting bugs on the other. Is it really worth it and will it genuinely mess up my modpack?
P.S I have noticed Project Ozone 2 has the fixed version of Gilded Games Util in it, as well as 200 mods. I was wondering what version of forge do most people play that with?

For MC 1.7.10, 10.13.4.1614 is the most current version. I recommend using this version of Forge for MC 1.7.10.
