When I went on my modpack yesterday, I walked around my base for a bit, I then went outside and flew around the world, exploring new chunks, etc. Whilst, flying around the world my fps rate was in the 100s. It usually increases when I am either in my base or underground (170-200+).
P.S Also I'd like to mention that In the settings, I set my FPS rate to unlimited and my render distance to 10 chunks (I will be increasing it to the maximum of 12 in the near future provided it will run fine).
Also, I just wanna ask. I pressed F3 to see the statistics whilst playing. When I do so much as walk/move in my base I get quite a bit of chunk updates. I took a few steps in my house and got about 80 chunk updates till I stopped and then the number gradually kept decreasing until it reached to 0. Was just wondering if this was normal?
Ah I see. Thanks, i'll be sure to keep that in mind!
Also, I've read somewhere that Minecraft is a very CPU intensive game. I currently have the Intel i5 2500 3.3 GHz CPU (from 2011), even though it runs fine with other games, am I better off upgrading it to a better/newer one to improve performance? I've seen video's of Direwolf20 play his own 1.7.10 modpack (with about 150+ mods) and he seems to run it fine even with 3-4GB of RAM allocated. Despite Java not being able to handle masses amount of RAM, I've also heard from someone that the type of RAM can play a significant role in performance, though this is just from what I've heard. I.e ddr4 RAM is better than DDR3 (the RAM I have is ddr3 1333MHz).
